What happened in Turkish football today? 11/02/2024

Fenerbahce lost 2 points as it failed to provide entire pressure to Alanyaspor.

At the weeks, which both Fenerbahe and Galatasaray cant lose any points at the title race, Fenerbahce did lose 2 points against Alanyaspor at pretty high tension game and did lose its leadership to Galatasaray with same point difference.

It needs to be mentioned that Fenerbahce didnt have great start of the game and did concede pretty early minutes which has led for opponents to get much more control of the game and to some extend has given an opportunity to waste time especially with its goalkeeper Ertugrul Dogan. Fenerbahce did actually control of the game as it did pass around and did get close to an attacking area but did lack of final touches in moment when it needed. It also in fact did start 2nd half in very good note as it score both goals with finding penalty with Dusan Tadic and later Edin Dzeko scoring a goal. However, it did concede 2nd goal too early once again from Augusto. Fenerbahce did provide strong attacking game towards end of the game as would be expected as game has turned into chaos and panic game and it couldnt convert those changes as it lacked final touches.

Alanyaspor meanwhile has provided right reaction to some extend after finding goal as it both in trickery manner has wasted time, reduced tempo and provided some strong defence preventing Fenerbahce to get last touches. With side being close to relegation zone, this point would provide an extra motivation.

Fenerbahce hence did lose 2 points in this title race and did lose an advantage of title race but it needs to respond fast and start to find ways to find wins back-to-back again in such close season.

Galatasaray got another confident win at game which expected to be tough.

Galatasaray has once again got confident win this time against Basaksehirspor with finding 2 relatively early goals as it did against Samsunspor on previous week with only difference that this time it took around 30 minutes.

With Basaksehirspor being on form side during recent weeks it was expected for this game to be difficult but Galatasaray did provided strong organised attacking game and also did focus into defensive game which has prevented opponents to get into any control of the game despite of having some chances into the goal. There were some criticisms and arguments that team didnt provide similar performance in 2nd half but this did come from scoreline and taking account that Basaksehirspor didnt had many dangerous chances even through it did find goal which been ruled out, Galatasaray did keep on control. It does look like in upcoming games key would be to find an early goal as Galatasaray does tend to keep scoreline after its leading game.

Galatasaray hence does continue to provide confident performance on field and with Fenerbahce continue to dominate Super League.

Besiktas will aim to show top game for whole game.

With Besiktas winning last 2 games, against Trabzonspor in league and Antalyaspor at the Turkish Cup, it would be needed to state that it would be coming with good confidence but still does have issues with showing top game for 90 minutes.

Besiktas even through did get some winning ways and did raise to 3rd spot following last week games, it is still incapable to show top level game for 90 minutes and with head coach Santos stating that this is not acceptable it is likely team would work on do improve on that during this game. Kayserispor which did have good run before New Year continues its decline of performance but it could be seeing this game as turning point as Besiktas are not yet at best form.

Besiktas would aim to not only get crucial win in such game but also aim to make its top game performance into closer to 90 minutes.
