What happened in Turkish football today? 22/08/2023

Fenerbahce continues its winning run this time beating Samsunspor.

Fenerbahce has got an important win against Samsunspor with 2:0 win from Edin Dzeko and Szymanski as side has provided much more effective and stronger performance during 2nd half.

It needs to be mentioned that due of condition of the field and also possible tiredness, Fenerbahce didnt have much good start of the game as it lacked needed tempo which would been awaited from them and also conceded some chances from highly detirmined opponent which did aim to provide positive attacking game but did lack last touches. Fenerbahce did manage to turn around game during 2nd half with providing much more effective and stronger game as assist from Cengiz Under did once remind everyone great partnership they had at AS Roma and would be accpeted to carry on similar line in this level. Fenerbahce did become only side to win 2 games in the start of the season factor which would provide motivation and confidence against Twente and upcoming league games.

Fenerbahce is not still playing its ideal performance but despite of that it is showing pretty strong and effective performance on the field without doubt.

Galatasaray needs to be focussed at game against Molde.

Galatasaray would be coming out to the last stage of the Champions League qualifying stages as it would be playing against Molde at play-off round at the tie where it would be favourite but it would be toughest test for them since start of qualifying campaign.

To some extend and even through Galatasaray does seem to be one of the classics side to be at group stage at the Champions League, Molde also would be eager to get into this tournament especially taking account that it been mainly competing at Europa League at previous season and hence would be providing strong game. Galatasaray are favourites when looking into squad but Molde is being an opponent which needs to be taken seriously and with Galatasaray not showing good performance in all fairness at away games does mean that it would be providing much more organising game especially at defensive game. It does look like Mauro Icardi would meanwhile play an important role at attacks during this game for sure.

Galatasaray are being favourites but it would need to get its opponents seriously if it doesnt want unexpected surprise.

Sides competing at UEFA competitions will not play this weekend.

TFF has announced that games at the Super League 3rd week game of sides participating at UEFA competitions at play-off rounds will be postponed at upcoming days as all opponents will not also play in respective domestic leagues on weekend.

Games which been postponed have been Istanbulspor-Galatasaray, Fenerbahce-Basaksehirspor and Adana Demirspor-Besiktas as with one games being between Conference League sides has also reduced game to 3 for not playing. It needs to be mentioned that such tactics sort to speak has been used earlier in Turkish football up to 2000's and this time has been introduced not only due of importance but also due of fact that earlier all opponents will not be playing in respective leagues due of same reason. This would for sure to provide time at weekend to prepare for 2nd leg games in such crucial game for clubs and Turkish football in general.

Its being question when games would be moved to but national team break could provide some dates towards TFF as dates would likely be announced in upcoming weeks.
