What happened in Turkish football today? 08/11/2022

Galatasaray gets to next round of Turkish Cup in unexpected difficult manner.

Galatasaray gets to 5th round of the Turkish Cup as it played against 3rd division Ofspor as it got win into much more tough circumstances as would been expected since Ofspor did provide good resistance.

Even through Galatasaray did go through big rotation as it given some playing time to normally heavily substituted and reserved players which also consisted high number of academy players. Due of some players being inepxerienced to play high level competitive game, could possibly provided some pressure to them which could also be reason why it has conceded early on game, as Ofspor has scored great goal by Mithad Turkyilmaz. After conceding Galatasaray did raise tempo of the game and looked to be more attacking but it did struggle to go through strong defensive and organised performance of Ofspor. In fact, as it did got equaliser by Haris Seferovic, who continues to be scoring at Turkish Cup, it did look like game would be going to extra-time, scenario which would been unwanted from Galatasaray, but Berkay Kutlu goal on 79th minute has prevented that.

Without doubt, lots of Ofspor has shown very organised game and did perform much better than expected with scoring great goal on 18th minute has provided significant confidence and motivation for rest of the game. Ofspor should be happy and proud with such performance without doubt.

Galatasaray did get through  but it managed to do so in much difficult manner how it would been expected and this result should provide some thinking topic for Okan Buruk and some players on field.

Fenerbahce continues its winning ways beating tough Sivasspor.

Fenerbahce has got an important win against one of the most toughest opponents in the league Sivasspor and has managed to do so with playing with 10-men for almost whole 2nd half.

It needs to be mentioned that games at European competitions for both sides has affected to performance of both sides, as it been played in low tempo for almost 1st half and as Fenerbahce did look better, it still didnt provide enough pressure and has let Sivasspor to control of the game. Interestingly, 2nd yellow card of Michy Batshuayi has turned out to be waking up call for side as it did provide sligthly better tempo and got penalty which has been converted from Enner Valencia with cold-hearted shot but effective shot. With taking account that Fenerbahce didnt win its opponents for last 6 games, this has been significant win among fact that it got 5 point advantage against closest opponents for top spot Basaksehirspor and Galatasaray.

Fenerbahce continues with winning reign and has secured its top position when World Cup break would start as it would meet against Giresunspor next week.

Besiktas will be meeting with Serik Belediyespor at Turkish Cup

Besiktas would be starting its Turkish Cup campaign at 4th round game against 2nd league side Serik Belediyespor as it would be also focussed into regaining confidence and motivation following loss to Galatasaray.

As would be expected, Besiktas would be starting with substitutes and reserved squad at the game where players would have very good opportunity to show their skills to newly-elected Senol Gunes while he would be able to see how his alternative players is capable to perform during game. This would be good opportunity for those players to prove themselves and hence it would be accepted for players to show strong and attacking game. Serik Belediyespor meanwhile would have opportunity to play against big team and would get good experience.

Besiktas without doubt are being favourites and main focus to see how competitive squad will play at competitive game.
