What happened in Turkish football today? 15/11/2022

Scotland will give good test to Turkey in friendly game.

Turkish National Team would play its international friendly game among two strong opponents, with one of them being against Scotland in Diyarbakir as this game is expected to be good test for side prior to Euro 2024 qualifying campaign to be starting in March.

With Turkey to some extend is going through dissapointment for not getting to World Cup and also not very good ending to Nations League even through it did approach its aim to be promoted to League B, as it needs to be mentioned that it would be playing a friendly game against side which also has set an eye for World Cup but didnt qualify in same manner as did Turkey through play-off games. It needs to be mentioned that differences between sides are being more or less same especially when taking account that Scotland are showing some improvement in recent years, even through not very significant ones. Also it is seen as good test and comparison with Wales. There is high chance for lots of younger players to be recieving playing time meanwhile from Turkey.

Hence, it would be good test for both sides to check their current condition and for coaches and could be tactical game with this in mind.

Choosing Diyarbakir as hosts of the game has reasons outside of football

Meanwhile, Turkish National Team would be playing its first game at heavily Kurdish-populated city of Diyarbakir due of some extend political and sociable reasons.

It needs to be mentioned that Turkey are doing lots of investment and works of Diyarbakir region which includes improving football facilities and modernising its stadiums including Diyarbakir Stadium where game would be taking place. Hence, to some extend this is being to some extend propaganda move in sense of location and would be focussed to make sure that game and also supporters would be providing good image both of city and whole nation as whole due of political reasons without doubt.

Hence, this is being also move to advertise city by hosting game there without doubt by TFF.

Fatih Karagumruk has changed stadium to Erokspor stadium until end of the season.

Fatih Karagumruk has announced that rest of the games of the season would be played at Erekspor stadium as Ataturk Olympic Stadium does provide lots of issues to team and did in general to other clubs for long time.

Due of being pretty outside of Istanbul geographically and also having an issue of strong winds due of location has provided lots of players on field which is being especially case during winter months. Also being an olympic stadium it is having an issue of being far from supporters stands due of track. With having lots of stands at the stadium, it always had issue to fill up stadiums even at big games. Erokspor stadium is being smaller stadium of side which competes at 2nd league but it doesnt have distance, weather and supporters issues in design and location and hence without doubt is being right decision for Fatih Karagumruk and this could turn into some positive results for the team.

Without doubt, Fatih Karagumruk did make right decision and would have an important effects when league would be resumed after World Cup.
