What happened in Turkish football today? 01/09/2022

Trabzonspor could have tough time against Umraniyespor.

Turkish Super League 5th week is going to start with Umraniyespor and Trabzonspor as title holders would be seeing this game as good opportunity to regain its confidence but it could be tough fixture.

Without doubt, Trabzonspor would be coming out to this game as favourites when looking at the quality of the squad but it might not be as simple from first glance. It needs to be mentioned that performance which been seen from Umraniyespor has been positive and even through it does struggle to get wins, it does provide some pressure towards opponents. Trabzonspor on other side is being side which been mentally negatively affected with recent results, not winning for 3-weeks and losing some players during this summer transfer window with Cornelius joining side. Trabzonspor is going for some changes and hence it could be having some issues at game against Umraniyespor.

Therefore, Trabzonspor are favourites but it could become pretty tough game for them in the end of the day.

Serdar Saatci signs 4-year contract with Braga.

Braga has purchased Besiktas player Serdar Saatci for 4-years as player has been willing to join European side since start of the season.

It needs to be mentioned that there are some windows openning for Turkish players during this summer transfer window with Serdar Saatci being latest players who has used such an opportunity. With taking account that Saatci has been takn out of squad due of reaction towards Valerien Ismael in pre-season period, it has been also good development as it was unclear when he would be forgiven. Saatci could have some time to get adapted to Portuguese league but he does have capacity to show some good performance and become one of key defenders in his side.

This been good move by Serdar Saatci where he could develop into good player without doubt.

Trabzonspor signs Umut Bozok

Trabzonspor has signed Lorient player Umut Bozok as he does join as reigning goalscorer of the previous season during his stay at Kasimpasa.

Umut Bozok is joining side with expectation that he would be able to continue such positive attacking game and his familiarity with league but as been noted on previous blog entry, he could be needing some time to get adapted to this league without doubt. Therefore, being at the team with different expectations, he could be having some issues with getting into high level performance as he is not used under such circumstances.

There were reports that club did sign him as Andreas Cornelius, but with signing of Maxi Gomez at short time, it does look like it would not be case.
