What happened in Turkish football today? 05/01/2022

Besiktas has won 2022 Super Cup through penalties.

Besiktas has won Turkish Super Cup 2022 with getting win following penalty kicks with 4:2 scoreline following 1:1 score at 120 minutes and to some extend getting triple from previous season.

It needs to be noted that Besiktas did provide two different halves at 90 minutes as it been side which dominated game for first half and did lose tempo during 2nd half and even more on extra-time. However, what brought win for Besiktas has been much more effective taking of penalty kicks during that period with Ersin Destanoglu saving important shot on 2nd penalty. To some extend, Atiba Hutchinson has been player which did show performance which did bring dominate storeline of the game with scoring on 34th minute and also scoring own goal on 74th minute during playing position from Gural Vural. Only issue from winning this title is being clear that Besiktas didnt show full high tempo for 90 minutes which could be affected on Super League.

Antalyaspor needs to be stated didnt provide high tempo game on 1st half letting for opponent to be side to control game and didnt look like side which could turn around game but game did change entirely on 2nd half with Antalyaspor showing high tempo with Besiktas being side to be losing which led to high amount of positions with leading for Hutchinson to be making mistake from Guray Vural. With lacking last touches, Antalyaspor did show effective game which led for them to get tired for extratime as it show some crucial tiredness which did look even more on penalties.

Besiktas did get important title with to some extend ending previous season with triple and would get some motivation for upcoming games.

TFF will not accept supporters without boost jabs.

TFF has revised some rules regarding of entrance to the stadiums due of Covid 19 Omicron rapid current spreading in Turkey, stating that supporters who didnt get boost jab following 180 days of being sick from Covid19 will not be allowed to stadiums.

With rise of daily Covid19 cases being doubled in less then weel, Turkish community is currently being focussed into how keep number of cases into control without returning to strict restrictions and lockdown. One of the attempts has been at the stadium, calling supporters to be getting boost jabs including ones who did suffer from virus with calling every supporter who has recovered in 180 day to get boost jab or otherwise it would not be allowed into stadiums. Without doubt, this decision would be interesting to see how it would affect into number of supporters in the stadiums and also how effective would be to prevent rise of cases among supporters.

Meanwhile, there are talks that TFF is currently discussing if start of 2nd half of season should be delayed due of high number of players being infected.
