What happened in Turkish football today? 02/04/2019

Galatasaray didnt manage to control game even if it had higher possession of game.

Turkish Cup semi-final 1st leg game between Galatasaray and Yeni Malatyaspor has been ended with goalless draw as Christian Luyindama red card at 71st minute has become main position of the game and has created high amount of protests from Galatasaray side.

It needs to be stated that Luyindama red card has been led for careless raising his leg and touching to the shoulder of Yeni Malatyaspor player in uncontrolable manner and has this protests from Galatasaray head coach Fatih Terim and players would be seen as surprising and needless. It needs to be noted that Galatasaray didnt provide great game and wasnt able to get needed tempo of the game and didnt manage to get many chances during game. It is true that Galatasaray had higher possession compare to Yeni Malatyaspor but this has been mainly due of the factor that Yeni Malatyaspor has allowed their opponents to control ball but didnt let them to raise tempo with defensive game. Galatasaray has lost its advantage of home ground with ending game with 0:0 scoreline and it didnt provide strong performance at home ground.

In other hand, Yeni Malatyaspor even looked to be also passive side but it has been actually which was controlled game and has prevented Galatasaray to raise tempo and create high amount of the chances. Only downside of Yeni Malatyaspor could be seen for not scoring goal at away game with taking account that it had recieved some of the chances as game has been progressing. This could also been noted especially as opponent has been played last 20 minutes with 10-men. Still, Yeni Malatyaspor has got advantage of the tie as their are more likely to provide much more attacking game at home ground even through it would aim to prevent Galatasaray to create chances.

Apart of having 2nd leg in 2 weeks time at the Yeni Malatyaspor, both sides would be playing against each other at the Super League on 6th April as Galatasaray would need to play better game as it cant afford to lose points at its title race.

Akhisarspor would aim to defend its title with going through Umraniyespor barrier.

Akhisarspor which are close to be relegated from Super League at the end of the season as team is
located at last place, would be taking without doubt its tie against 1st league side Umraniyespor at Turkish Cup very seriously.

It also needs to be remembered that Akhisarspor are defending their title at Turkish Cup which without doubt has provided strong motivation during this season competition and would also provide confidence for tie against Umraniyespor. It has been observed that side has provided an additional motivation and focus so far at the competition and would certainly aim to show strong performance.
It also needs to be reminded that despite it would be playing against side which is from lower division, it has got a surprising wins against Fenerbahce and Trabzonspor on previous rounds and hence has strong self-belief on their own hand for sure. Actually, Akhisarspor will not be seen as favourite in fact as despite of being at different leagues, Umraniyespor has better form when coming to this game.

Akhisarspor needs to stay focussed and show strong game if it doesnt want to experience unexpected surprising result against motivated opponent.

Umraniyespor has nothing to lose in this tie.

Umraniyespor would be aiming to carry on its impressive and surprising performance at Turkish Cup as it would be playing against Akhisarspor who also takes this competition seriously this season.

Umraniyespor would be coming out to the game with high confidence and focus to get to the final of the competition for 1st time in its history and also would mark an important mark in history of competition with becoming side from lower division to achieve getting to final for long time. This factor would certainly affect to motivation of the side and confidence and would give their best against Akhisarspor knowing that it has nothing to lose but would gain a lot if it achieves this difficult task. As been mentioned above, Akhisarspor are now having good season at Super League and are at last place, which in some extend provides opportunity but in same time it can meet with highly focussed Akhisarspor so it is important for Umraniyespor to stay focussed towards game from start to end if it wants to provide historical result and achievement in this semi-final tie.

Umraniyespor arleady has wrote history at the competition but it would be aiming to carry on with getting through Akhisarspor in this stage.

Galatasaray 0:0 Yeni Malatyaspor
