What happened in Turkish football today? 11/04/2019
Trabzonspor would need to carry on showing attacking game against Bursaspor
With Turkish football community having its full focus understandably to Fenerbahce - Galatasaray and Besiktas -Basaksehirspor games, there are other very important and crucial games taking place this week, with Bursaspor and Trabzonspor are being among them.
Trabzonspor current aim without doubt is primarily to secure its top 4 places which is close to do so and also fighting for 3rd spot as with result of this weekend games it could get even closer to that aim while Bursaspor does urgently need point/s to get further from drop zone as it is only 1 point ahead of Goztepe. Stating that, Trabzonspor is providing strong performance right now with finding many goals and having great confidence so without doubt Black Sea side would be coming out as strong favourites, but Bursaspor would be aiming for sure to provide defensive game and do its best to prevent Trabzonspor to create any attacking game. Key for Trabzonspor would be for sure to provide similar performance which it did during last week game against Antalyaspor and be self-confident for sure. Meanwhile, Bursaspor needs to prepare for game knowing that Trabzonspor would provide that kind of game.
Trabzonspor as been mentioned would be favourites for game but compare to last week their are likely to recieve strong defensive opponent during game but an attacking game should be doing trick for them.
Fenerbahce player Mehmet Ekici has recieved 3-game ban from PFDK.
Professional Football Disciplinary Committee (PFDK) has announced that Fenerbahce player Mehmet Ekici who has recieved red card during Ankaragucu game during Super League 27th week game has recieved 3-game ban.
Apart of missing Galatasaray derby game on 14th April, he would also not be available for his ex-club Trabzonspor and it was also pretty interesting to see him not being aware of what he has done during this game providing shocking reaction. If until today, he was still not aware of his actions than this ban should provide him to the senses. Stating that Fenerbahce head coach Ersun Yanal following last week game has stated that he would talk with players regarding those actions. It was also pretty unacceptable taking account that it was prior such an important derby game and also generally as he didnt recieve many game time due of injuries. This actions even through did come from instant reaction still is not acceptable and in fair manner PFDK would make you pay price at the end.
This 3-week period would leave for Mehmet Ekici to think about his actions as he would be viewing next 3 games including derby from outside of field.
Attackers would decide result of derby game.
Countdown towards derby game between Fenerbahce and Galatasaray carries on as among one of the main questions is about how defence both sides would be performing on 14th April.
With Fenerbahce having defence issues from start of the season and also Galatasaray 2 key defenders Luyindama and Marcao not being available due of cards ban, it would be important how both defenders would be performing. When cancelling out both defence issues at both sides, it needs to be stated that Galatasaray does have an upper hand as their attackers are showing better performances while Fenerbahce attackers are having very poor performance and not able to score even basic positions as been viewed at many games. Stating that Fenerbahce did provide good performances so far during derby games, so this weaknesses from attackers could be stopped in this game as every player from both sides would be seeking to score goal. In addition, Fenerbahce has an upper psychological hand by not losing 20 years to Galatasaray in its home ground and this issue could also affect performance for attackers at both sides.
With defence not being at great form from both sides, role of attackers would seem to be playing most important role and their performances would be key for how game would be progressing.
