What happened in Turkish football today? 01/10/2021

Galatasaray got very important point against Olympique Marseille.

Galatasaray has got very important goalless draw against Olympique Marseille during Europa League Group D 2nd week, but its hard to state that it showed strong attacking game.

Stating that, it needs to be aware that side did play against strong opposition who did come out as favourites so providing focus to defensive game could be highly undestandable and even through Olympique Marseille did provide high tempo during 2nd half, right positioning of Galatasaray did prevent important role as there were moments when ball was prevented as it was getting closer to goal. In addition, side been pretty lucky on penalty position which was given by referee but been rightly cancelled from VAR as it showed how to use this system in effective manner. Still, even through it didnt show much attacking game it needs to be noted that Galatasaray does provide much better game in Europe this season than on league.

It does look side is more focussed into performance in Europe right now and Fatih Terim needs to focus how it can show top game in Super League too.

Fenerbance loses concentration when getting behind.

Fenerbahce meanwhile seems to be showing quite opposite to Galatasaray as its performance in the Super League seems to be much better compare to Europa League as it lost to Olympiakos with 3:0 scoreline at home.

Even through Fenerbahce did show pretty good start of the game with getting control of the game to some extend, after conceding goal it did lose its concentration and tempo which been reduced even more following 3nd goal. One of the observation which been seen clearly has been factor that side looks to be failing to show comebacks after getting behind due of concentration and this factor been identified from Pereira for sure and he would need to work on this as this would affect during upcoming games both in league and Europe for sure. Therefore, this been very dissapointing game for Fenerbahce and shows that it needs to be worked on for upcoming games without doubt.

Fenerbahce did provide pretty poor game especially taking account at home and there are valuable lessons.

Trabzonspor would focus to solve its downsides as it would play against Kayserispor

Trabzonspor would be getting back to the league with away game against struggling Kayserispor as it would be focussing not to make mistakes with red cards which costed them points in last 2 games.

Trabzonspor which is being only side among "big 4" not to play in midweek, did have opportunity to go through previous 2 games which ended with 2 draws and 2 red cards and did allow Avci to work on developments for side which he did work. Due of point situation in the league, Trabzonspor is still being strong contender for leadership and might even enter as one to national team break so it could solve this issue as early as possible and provide much more confident. While, Kayserispor could learn some lessons and could provide tactically pressure to its opponents and prevent them to get into much attacking opportunities if it wants to get 3 points.

Trabzonspor hence did get time to get to this game compare to others and time would show if it would be able to show much more careful winning game.
