What happened in Turkish football today? 03/06/2020

Gaziantep has announced that all Covid19 results are negative.

Gaziantep has announced that following tests which it has run for Covid19, it didnt get any positive results which means that we keep recieving some positive news regarding of this virus and hopefully same news would be arriving from all clubs until end of this season.

As been noted beforehand, especially at Turkish football community, it has become new norm for going through high number of the tests as we would be recieving such news by each day as at least one Super League would be going through tests and then announce results within 48 hours. With clubs and players currently being located at intense isolation and facilities been looked after and going through regular cleaning period would mean that possibility of virus to be spread is very low. Of course, with league starting after 8 days it is crucial for results keep coming negative.

Even through Turkish football did experience some numbers of positive results, right now things are going into right direction and under control at clubs.

Basaksehirspor and Trabzonspor showing support to name next season after Doctor Cemil Tasikcioglu.

Basaksehirspor and Trabzonspor have joined to respect which was provided by Besiktas to name 2020-21 season following Turkish doctor Cemil Tasikcioglu who had been among doctor which looked to first cases of Covid19 patients and had been infected by it and passed away.

As it is known, TFF so far has named its Super League seasons during past season after legendary personalities at Turkish football with so far them being from top 4 clubs. However, in very meaningful manner, it could stop this tradition and provide exception with naming against Cemil Tasikcioglu who became among key names and symbols during Covid fight, that still continues, in Turkey. Therefore, it should be seen pretty clear why clubs are showing such interest and would provide repsect to one of the names who tried to stop pandemic spreading wildly in this country.

With 3 clubs showing support for such suggestion it would be expected for other to follow suit in short period.

TFF would not allow friendlies prior to restart of the season.

TFF had declined respect from Fenerbahce to play friendly games prior to restart of Super League, hence making it also clear that this would not be supported despite of some clubs wanted to those to take place.

Even through friendlies would make clubs into much more ready condition prior to restart of the season on 12th June, this games would not be regulated and controlled hence would not be able to provide guidelines without strict control. This decision it needs to be noted even through sportive manner could be seen as problematic, health sense it is highly understandable as TFF would not like to have unwanted circumstances if friendlies to be played.

It needs to be noted that similar decisions has been made across Europe where preparation for restart of the season would be taking place at short period.
