What happened in Turkish football today? 28/06/2020
Basaksehirspor is being more advantegous from draw despite not providing great game.
Basaksehirspor manages to stay at the top of the table with 5 weeks left until end of the season, despite of drawing against Galatasaray with 1:1 scoreline and not providing very effective performance apart of start of 2nd half.
With both Trabzonspor and Sivasspor losing 2 points and playing with Galatasaray who had absences of some of its key players, Basaksehirspor did come out to the game with good opportunity to open its point difference against its main rivals. It needs to be noted that as usual Basaksehirspor did start game on more or less in its own control with letting game to be played in pretty slow tempo which will be going into its advantage, as it could be struggling with game played at fast tempo. It did been noted above Basaksehirspor did start 2nd half in pretty good performance looking for chances back-to-back and with finding crucial goal by Aleksic. However, even through it could been accepted, control of the game did go into hand of Galatasaray who started showing much more attacking performance finding goal with Akbaba and continuing in same manner after scoring. Meanwhile, one of the unexpected event has been for Edin Visca to get his 1st red card in his Super League career which did go into hand for Galatasaray. It needs to be noted that Mert Gunok performance with crucial saves which kept side at the game. Surprisingly towards end of the game, Basaksehirspor looked to be more panicked and making mistakes even through it condition in the table could lead them to be more in control.
Galatasaray who did come out to the game with 8 points behind of Basaksehirspor, it was expected for them to give their best performance. Even through compare to both teams, Galatasaray looked to be more in control of the game but still absences of its players did affect to its whole game and couldnt provide needed tempo to find needed goal as it is hard to beat Basaksehirspor with providing medium tempo game. Still it needs to be noted that Galatasaray provided right attitude as it provided strong attacking game and does keep its title hopes arrive even through it does have difficulty to achieve it as with possible 15 points left this season, it is being 8 points behind from Basaksehirspor. Therefore, it does look best option for them is to stay focussed for rest of the season, especially against Trabzonspor as win in that game could help them to become runners-up and get Champions League spot. Overall, its performance is being good but its key for not winning been not getting into tempo it seeked for.
Despite of losing 2 points and providing worser performance then Galatasaray, to some extend winner of this week been Basaksehirspor as it kept top position and kept same point advantage prior to this week for title.
Sivasspor continues losing point and gets further from title hopes.
Sivasspor did lose unexpected points during Super League 29th week game against Kayserispor and did put its chances for league title into difficult task as it finds itself 7 points behind league leaders Basaksehirspor.
Apart of raising point difference with leaders with 5 games left until end of the season, what is more worrying is that it did provide some performance since league has been restarted and does provide view of not being ready for end of the season, factor which been mentioned from coach Riza Calimbay several times prior to restart and following it. It needs to be noted that Sivasspor did start game with high tempo creating chances back-to-back and did even got penalty kick which wasnt converted by Mert Hakan Yandas. In fact, with missing penalty kick performance level of Yandas and also by whole club it did lose whole control with Kayserispor looked to be more effective and with gaining confidence as game progressed, Kayserispor did score goal during last minute of 1st half. This performance does provide some worrying image. Meanwhile, penalty goal during 2nd half is being pretty questionable if it was outside penalty kick.
Kayserispor on other side did get important win in its aim to stay in the league and despite still ending week at relegation zone, it finds in same point until safe zone and for sure this win against title contender would provide motivation and confidence for rest of the season.
Sivasspor did lose crucial game against Kayserispor and would have difficult task to focus into rest of the season as it doesnt look to be providing confident performance in recent weeks.
Trabzonspor loses crucial points during title race
Trabzonspor continues losing very important points during its title race, as it has lost 2 points during previous two games this time against last-place Ankaragucu and does provide some worrying image prior to next week game against Galatasaray.
It needs to be stated that Trabzonspor did start game in perfect manner it could as it found goal from Alexandr Sorloth during 3rd minute of the game but rather then providing strong performance following such goal, it provided very slow tempo to an extend which was suitable for Trabzonspor. It needs to be noted that during whole season, Trabzonspor does provide high number loss of points when getting ahaed and despite being on 2nd place and among title favourites, its been most team to lose points like that during this season. Without doubt club needs to find solution to this and not repeat it for last 5 games if it wants to get title in the end of the season. Meanwhile, there is been high level of complaints regarding of penalty decision but it needs to be noted that it was right decision since Pereira did play with hand.
Trabzonspor does provide some worrying image and even through it does have number of injuries, it does have squad which need to win games while fighting for title.
