What happened in Turkish football today? 09/06/2020
Trabzonspor had among best training period before resuming league.
Our blog due of restart of the Super League on 12th June, would be focussing into top 6 clubs which still could be referred as title contenders for next 2 days with discussing into their chances for league title in this new normal period, starting with league leaders Trabzonspor.
Foremost, it needs to be noted that Trabzonspor has been among clubs which didnt have any big issues during this 2-month lockdown from football period without reporting any cases at whole club which allowed them to carry on training session in the full manner with affecting its training session. Another aspect which would be seen as disadvantage is with completing its games without any fans. With whole Trabzon and also having some fanbase from whole Black Sea region, it does get to some extend even more bigger support then Istanbul clubs but it would not getting this support which could become crucial especially at games when it would need additional boost when things wont go perfect for them.
Still, ability to train in full level during this difficult time for everyone does provide them strong advantage for this league to be resumed.
Basaksehirspor could use no supporters for its own advantage in last 8 weeks.
As been noted, lack of supporters for most of the club does provide disadvantage as their been pushing force to the team. However, 2nd place Basaksehirspor could treat this issue as own advantage.
As it is known, Basaksehirspor is being pretty low and in fact our blog did identify this aspect as main reason for club to lose title during last season when it had 8 point advantage in one point. However, this could turn into advantage for them as club would be playing more or less in familiar performance as it did for most amount of time. While many clubs in Super League at their own stadiums used to be pushed by their own team, lack of them could be also help to them during away games also as difference with home/away does get less in such circumstances. Meanwhile, it is also been observed that club didnt have high number of effects from Covid19 in unwanted manner.
Therefore, Basaksehirspor could use this no supporters aspect in own advantage in this unusual title race.
Galatasaray did go through difficult Covid 19 break
Galatasaray which are 3 points behind league leaders would be among clubs which might be pretty tough to show top performance when leagues to be resumed as it did go through some difficult period especially when Covid19 entered to Turkey and also playing without supporters.
Galatasaray as remembered did take leading role when calling for leagues to be postponed, but as time went by and fear of Trabzonspor to be called champions and also financial issue start showing themselves has led them to call for leagues to be restarted. During this period its head coach Fatih Terim, administrators Abdurrahim Albayrak and Yusuf Guney got Covid 19 and had went through recovery, even all 3 are fully recovered it did had psychological outcome to whole club. Surely, not playing with supporters which for years played important for side to win game in such difficult games would not be missing. Galatasaray did have great run of results before leagues postponed, but would their able to come back strong in such circumstance is uncertain.
Its hard to call how their would be resume league in such circumstances for sure without doubt.
