What happened in Turkish football today? 04/10/2023

Galatasaray got significant win against struggling Man Utd.

Galatasaray has got an important win against Manchester United at Old Trafford with showing strong character and belief as it won game with 3:2 scoreline while being behind twice during game and has put itself into good position to get to the knockout stages.

Even through Manchester United did come at poor form, there were some worries that Galatasaray would have difficult game as team would be able to provide different performance and be differently motivated and this to some extend has been case as Manchester United did provide an effective performance for some parts of the game and did go ahead. It needs to be also stated that it took time for Galatasaray to get into game as it didnt look in strong performance at the start of the game but after conceding did show good reaction as in fact it did during 2nd goal. Meanwhile, for 2nd time Mauro Icardi has scored a goal short while after not converting penalty kicks which shows that this position raise hunger for him rather than affect negatively.

It needs to be mentioned that this win should not be over praised as does some Turkish media as it did play against not strongest Manchester United but should be identified as important one in same time.

Besiktas will need to see Lugano game as turning point of whole season

Besiktas would be coming out to an important game against Lugano during Conference League both to regain confidence and morale in general and also keep their chances for knockout stages alive after draw with Club Brugge.

With looking results and how Besiktas performs, it needs to be mentioned that it does come out in similar manner as does Manchester United to Galatasaray game as on paper and history it looks to be favourite, but taking account recent results and most important performance of the team, it wouldnt be sadly big surprise if Lugano manages to get positive result for them. Besiktas could be using this game meanwhile into positive note with providing strong and attacking game for 90 minutes and find goal as it would as been mentioned both make their chances in tournament favourable and also get confidence for upcoming games.

Besiktas would need to see this game as possible turning point and should treat it in the field.

Fenerbahce expects to show strong dominant game against Spartak Trnava

Fenerbahce would be aiming to continue its winning run with rising it to 15 games since start of the season, as it would be coming out as strong favourites against Slovakian side Spartak Trnava.

Fenerbahce is expected to get 100% from this group stage and it would be playing against against weakest link at the group and is also expected to score some number of goals as it score 13 goals in last games including 4 against Nordsjaelland. An important issue for Fenerbahce would be to stay focus which it also manages to do in recent games and show dominant game. Spartak Trnava meanwhile which would be without doubt be aware of both its and opponent capacity likely would show defensive game with looking to fast counter-attacks to which Fenerbahce would be able to show response.

Fenerbahce is showing dominant game in last games and for sure would be expected to continue to do so against Spartak Trnava.
