What happened in Turkish football today? 23/05/2023

Trabzonspor would focus to end season at high note with comfortable win.

Trabzonspor has got a confident win against Fatih Karagumruk with 4:1 scoreline as it needed for confidence and motivation to get such win as it has stayed out of aim and doesnt provide good results on field in this tranformative period.

As it is known, this blog has been defending Nenad Bjelica for providing some trying and experimenting football with field which did led for side to lose games but it needs to be mentioned that home supporters are being one of the most demanding supporters in this league and hence it would been important to win game. Trabzonspor did provide such an attacking game with Trezeguet proving himself to Nenad Bjelica to be starting 11 player.

Hence, Trabzonspor did get very important win without doubt and would now focus to end season with 100% record in upcoming 3 games.

Fenerbahce are aiming to win Turkish Cup but...

Fenerbahce would be coming out to 2nd leg of Turkish Cup semi-final against Sivasspor at home ground to turn around 0:0 aggregate scoreline as it still aims for double in this season.

It needs to be mentioned that aim for Super League title is being out of their hands as it would be hoping for Ankaragucu to beat Galatasaray, but things are different at Turkish Cup as their would be aiming to get at least  one title in the end of the season. Fenerbahce will be coming as favourites due of 1st leg 0:0 scoreline and are likely to show much more attacking game compare to 1st leg but it needs to be mentioned that Sivasspor did set main aim for this season as Turkish Cup so it wont be easy game.

In addition, if Fenerbahce does get to the final this would provide some confidence for next week league game against Antalyaspor and also to derby game if scenarios would turn how they wish.

...Sivasspor also taking this tournament very seriously.

As been noted, Sivasspor which didnt have very good season in the Super League has set an eye to Turkish Cup both to end season at high at what seemed to be not very successful season and also get once again ticket to Europe.

Sivasspor hence would be expected to provide a controllable game as it would be playing against quality Fenerbahce side but would also look for some chances as players would be coming out with different confidence. Taking account that mindset for weeks Sivasspor only aimed for Turkish Cup it could be easy for them to get concentrated to this game regardless how it performs at league. Sivasspor would be coming out as underdogs due of quality factors and also playing away but it does capacity to get surprising result and get to the final.

It would be expected to be a good game as both sides would be aiming to get to the final of this competition for sure.
