What happened in Turkish football today? 28/05/2019

Some internal and external chaos and crises has provided motivation to Galatasaray.

Interestingly crises and chaos situations has provided an additional motivation to top teams which later has moved that team into winning league title and this situation has been also case during this season without doubt.

In fact, when things was going smoothly to some extend Galatasaray didnt provide high level performance which has also affected to its poor performance at Champions League at relatively easy group. And it chances for league title by some has been seen as not very high when entering to mid-season break as it was 6 points behind league leaders Basaksehirspor, which later has raised to 8 points. However, when it had an issue with TFF after head coach Fatih Terim and high number of players has recieved high heavily bans from Fenerbahce game it has managed to show togetherness and getting good result and during another crises, this time internal, when Galatasaray administration didnt approve CEO performance of Mustafa Cengiz team has carried on showing good performance. With also Basaksehirspor showing poor results towards end and also self-belief from Galatasaray it has managed to reduce point difference from 8 points and get league title with 2 point advantage with most important key beating them at home at winner take it all game on 33rd week.

Galatasaray didnt have all-around great season but it had great motivational boost, concentration and performance raise during last 9 weeks for sure.

Basaksehirspor has lost 8 points advantage at top and this factor shows team has issues.

In other hand, Basaksehirspor has entered to last 9 weeks of the league with an advantage of 8 points and it was expected that it would be able to get league title with expectation that game against Galatasaray might be a formality, but quite opposite that lost its league title in that game.

In fact, if Basaksehirspor didnt lose its 8 points towards end it could be stated that team would have deserved its league title as it has dominated and has shown most stable performance up to 25th week. But when you lose strong advantage as 8 points with 27 points still at question, you would quite naturally recieve high amount of criticism. In fact, in this case, Basaksehirspor should consider itself lucky for having lack of fans as if it had strong fan-base than supporters would not treat lightly for side to lose such good opportunity. Club without any fans base once again it needs to be stated would have trouble at getting any success and fighting for league title for sure and this issue would always be an issue for them and its hard to solve as many football followers despise them due of connection with government. Meanwhile, their are talks that number of key players could be leaving during summer transfer window which would provide high amount of loss of strengths to side.

Basaksehirspor as been mentioned earlier need to find ways how it can win league title with all disadvantages it has in its hand in upcoming season.

Besiktas didnt have great season for most part. 

Even through Besiktas did have some high performance during this season in overall it could be stated that it didnt have great performance during number of reasons.

During beginning of the season, its main issue has been of lack of performance from attackers which has led for team to be less creative at the front following recent seasons performance and has lost that dominant performance it has shown. High number of losses and lack of creativity did provide lots of factors for it to get wanted result but with average point of league especially in beginning being low it has kept them chances always for league title. With purchasing Burak Yilmaz did provide strong push for team but rumours that head coach Senol Gunes could be joining Turkish National Team and put this side into 2nd aspect has provided high amount of tension at the team. Interestingly, after it has become that Senol Gunes would be coaching both sides until end of the season, Besiktas has provided strong performance and once again has founded itself at title race until losing to Galatasaray in 31st week. Hence, Besiktas had a difficult season which affected to results and also factor that it has ended league at 3rd place.

Right now its need to find good replacement for Senol Gunes who would be able to bring performance level which has been seen from team 2-3 years ago.
