What happened in Turkish football today? 30/05/2019

Turkey has got an important motivational boost prior to Euro 2020 qualifiers. 

Turkish National Team has managed to win international friendly game against Greece with 2:1 scoreline and has kept its motivation and confidence prior to Euro 2020 crucial qualifier games against France and Iceland at high status with providing tactically good game.

It has been stated that game against Greece has been even more important game in sense of testing its strength prior to France and Iceland, as Uzbekistan is a team which Turkey would be expected to win without much issues to all respect to the opponent. It needs to be stated that Turkish National Team has started game at highly attacking performance which is way team was expected to pay with Senol Gunes as Gunes has shown in previous years including in Besiktas at focusing to providing positive and attacking game. With fast-paced game Turkey has managed to find 2 fast goals with Cenk Under and Hikmet Karaman. It needs to be stated due o tirednes from newly-ended Turkish league and also in similar cases with Greek league also ending recently and also aiming not to have injuries prior to important qualifiers teams start playing much more controllable game and not providing too much technical game and have reduced tempo. In overall, however Turkey has shown very good performance with only downside of conceding goal at last minute.

It needs to be stated that Greece did provide reasonable well performance but it did look like it wanted to get a win from this friendly less than Turkey as it didnt provide similar tempo game as did opponents towards end of the game. Still it was good game for them to check their status prior to their own games.

Turkish National Team did win against Greece and as been mentioned this win is important for them to raise motivation and confidence and winning habit prior to Euro 2020 qualifiers. It is know important to carry on like that against Uzbekistan on 2nd June.

Bursaspor has been relegated even with playing most amount of Turkish players this season.

Our brief summary of performance of the team which has been relegated from Super League during this season is going to be started with Bursaspor which are among one of the teams which Super League tends to be associated for many years.

In fact, Bursaspor as would been remembered has got league title back on 2009-2010 as it being one of the most memorable performances for the club but Bursaspor for many years has been seen as one of the teams to get good result even apart of that season. Coming to this season, what it is most sad with this relegation that its been club which has provided highest amount of playing time to Turkish players during this season and could been one of the leading defenders of changing of foreign players rule,if there wasnt fact that it was relegated. It also needs to be noted that team has got high amount of debts and financial issues which has also affected to its performance. With adding that for many games team didnt provide right focus and fighting spirit it has been relegated with especially draw against Goztepe in penultimate week doing its harm.

Bursaspor would need to learn lessons from this season and find ways how to improve as team and more crucially back to Super League after 1 season for sure.

Erzurumspor did leave some positive memories in this season.

It needs to be stated that, at least from writer of this blog, one of the saddest relegated team during this season has been Erzurumspor as it was team which was seeking for providing positive performance during whole season but lack of quality has affected to team.

It needs to be noted that even through it has lacked strong attackers at its disposal, it has always aimed to provide positive football and an attacking game however some financial issues at the team and also strong differences between sides has affected to the team performance during this season. Stating that it doesnt mean that team has been unlucky as not having players which are suitable to top division its hard to get right result and does provide great example and lesson, even through financial issues at club could be shown without doubt as an excuse. Erzurumspor as club and some players did get an important lesson from this lesson and in fact could aim for top league once again during next season.

Erzurumspor did get an important lesson and did get positive view from Turkish football fans and surely many people would like to see them to be back after next season to top league.

Friendlies against Greece and later Uzbekistan pure aim is to test new names at national team.

Prior to Euro 2020 crucial qualifiers against France and Iceland next month, Turkish National Team has decided to have 2 international friendlies to check conditions of some players prior to such crucial game and also look in general if team is ready for those qualifiers.

In fact, it needs to be noted that Turkey, if not mistaken, is only team at Euro 2020 qualifiers who would playing friendlies prior to qualifiers and even through choise of Greece could be good for motivation and confidence, Uzbekistan could be seen among aim to check new names at the team. With Greece also having an important Euro 2020 qualifiers coming in the same period, both teams would very likely aim to see their conditions of the players in similar manner. Among referring to this games as friendlies in Turkey, it mainly been referred preparation (hazirlik) games and this is very likely those games would be played in such manner. In fact, for viewers it would need to be expected high level performance from both team but still it could be good reason to view to check new names at national team and how their feel at this role and are their prepared for crucial games like against France and Iceland.

Again, pure result of this game is to check conditions of youngsters and new names at national team and hence expecting and predicting result could be difficult one to see.

Trabzonspor has shown best performance in recent years thanks to youth players.

Coming back to wrap-up of previous season, it needs to be stated that even through Trabzonspor wasnt specifically close to league title towards end and did end league at 4th place, it still managed to show its best performance during recent seasons and provides strong promise for future.

Trabzonspor key for such successsful performance as it is been mentioned at our blog during whole season has been performance of young players and also strong support their recieve both from technical and administrative performance. Among with some youth players from academy who became known to public from last season, it needs to be stated that many players from this season also from academy has shown great performance. With also its foreign players, mainly with own experience, providing good performance has moved team forward and have a season which would make number of Trabzonspor to be proud of their team. What makes it even more pleasant that
Trabzonspor aims to carry on such focus into its youth players in upcoming season. Only issue which team does have its issues with UEFA regarding of FFP and due of that would need to only spend 2 million euro during summer transfer window so it needs to use what it has in hand into maximum for next season.

This team could be able to fight for league title next season, it might not be enough still at winning for it, but it can provide some fight until end of the season. With still summer transfer window to take place, this view of course could change into both directions.

Yeni Malatyaspor has shown better performance which was expected by them.

One of the main surprises of this season has been Yeni Malatyaspor which has shown great performance especially during 1st half of the season and even found itself at the zone which could be referred as league title. Even through in 2nd half it showed not similarly stable performance, it still managed to show great performance and end season at 5th spot.

With only being at Super League for 2nd season and also providing average performance last season, Yeni Malatyaspor has been expected to end season at middle of the table but it has shown better performance thanks mainly to its great start of the season and great performance of number of players like Guilelhme. Even through as been mentioned its performance has become a bit more unstable in 2nd half of the season its still provided good games and has got Europa League last spot, even through it does need to thank Galatasaray at winning Turkish Cup and also Fenerbahce for beating Antalyaspor in last week. What is crucial now for a team is to focus into summer transfer window as it would be aim at first to go through qualifiers at Europa League and show good performance at group stage.

Now, Yeni Malatyaspor need to build with achievement it had shown during this season and provide high level performance and dont experience drop of performance which been seen by some clubs in next season.

What happened in Turkish football today? 28/05/2019

Some internal and external chaos and crises has provided motivation to Galatasaray.

Interestingly crises and chaos situations has provided an additional motivation to top teams which later has moved that team into winning league title and this situation has been also case during this season without doubt.

In fact, when things was going smoothly to some extend Galatasaray didnt provide high level performance which has also affected to its poor performance at Champions League at relatively easy group. And it chances for league title by some has been seen as not very high when entering to mid-season break as it was 6 points behind league leaders Basaksehirspor, which later has raised to 8 points. However, when it had an issue with TFF after head coach Fatih Terim and high number of players has recieved high heavily bans from Fenerbahce game it has managed to show togetherness and getting good result and during another crises, this time internal, when Galatasaray administration didnt approve CEO performance of Mustafa Cengiz team has carried on showing good performance. With also Basaksehirspor showing poor results towards end and also self-belief from Galatasaray it has managed to reduce point difference from 8 points and get league title with 2 point advantage with most important key beating them at home at winner take it all game on 33rd week.

Galatasaray didnt have all-around great season but it had great motivational boost, concentration and performance raise during last 9 weeks for sure.

Basaksehirspor has lost 8 points advantage at top and this factor shows team has issues.

In other hand, Basaksehirspor has entered to last 9 weeks of the league with an advantage of 8 points and it was expected that it would be able to get league title with expectation that game against Galatasaray might be a formality, but quite opposite that lost its league title in that game.

In fact, if Basaksehirspor didnt lose its 8 points towards end it could be stated that team would have deserved its league title as it has dominated and has shown most stable performance up to 25th week. But when you lose strong advantage as 8 points with 27 points still at question, you would quite naturally recieve high amount of criticism. In fact, in this case, Basaksehirspor should consider itself lucky for having lack of fans as if it had strong fan-base than supporters would not treat lightly for side to lose such good opportunity. Club without any fans base once again it needs to be stated would have trouble at getting any success and fighting for league title for sure and this issue would always be an issue for them and its hard to solve as many football followers despise them due of connection with government. Meanwhile, their are talks that number of key players could be leaving during summer transfer window which would provide high amount of loss of strengths to side.

Basaksehirspor as been mentioned earlier need to find ways how it can win league title with all disadvantages it has in its hand in upcoming season.

Besiktas didnt have great season for most part. 

Even through Besiktas did have some high performance during this season in overall it could be stated that it didnt have great performance during number of reasons.

During beginning of the season, its main issue has been of lack of performance from attackers which has led for team to be less creative at the front following recent seasons performance and has lost that dominant performance it has shown. High number of losses and lack of creativity did provide lots of factors for it to get wanted result but with average point of league especially in beginning being low it has kept them chances always for league title. With purchasing Burak Yilmaz did provide strong push for team but rumours that head coach Senol Gunes could be joining Turkish National Team and put this side into 2nd aspect has provided high amount of tension at the team. Interestingly, after it has become that Senol Gunes would be coaching both sides until end of the season, Besiktas has provided strong performance and once again has founded itself at title race until losing to Galatasaray in 31st week. Hence, Besiktas had a difficult season which affected to results and also factor that it has ended league at 3rd place.

Right now its need to find good replacement for Senol Gunes who would be able to bring performance level which has been seen from team 2-3 years ago.

What happened in Turkish football today? 27/05/2019

Goztepe has used its advantage in last week but it wasnt easy at all.

Goztepe has managed to use an advantage prior to last week as it has managed to beat Ankaragucu with 2:1 scoreline but it needs to be admitted that it was pretty nerve-cracking game for them as their are been close to be eliminated.

It needs to be stated that Goztepe did show good start towards game as it showed both to Ankaragucu and everyone viewing game and being curious about who would be relegated that their dont have plans to be one. In fact, their did found a goal in relatively early moments however Goztepe after that goal has decided to play controllable game and more focussed into securing win with that score. As it is known, it is dangerous tactic and it could them to be relegated as their had conceded goal and Bursaspor was winning its game. Luckily to them with simple mistake provided by Ankaragucu during free-kick due of needless handball, and calmness penalty show of Deniz Kadeh especially taking account that he is missed penalty in previous game, has found a goal which has kept them into Super League for next season. It has been pretty nervous game for them but their keeping detirmination has kept them at the league.

Now, it needs to be noted without doubt that it needs to solve some issues and analyse why it had such a season for next season during summer period and add some names during summer transfer window.

Bursaspor had lots of issues during this season.

Bursaspor did come out to the last week game against Yeni Malatyaspor with right set of mind as it aimed to win game and has shown good control of the game without doubt but this result wasnt enough for them.

Among all of the teams which were fighting to stay at the league, Bursaspor has been most hardest as Yeni Malatyaspor was fighting for 5th spot among Antalyaspor but Bursaspor has provided strong start looking for chances and finding goals in duration of 1st half with also opponents getting red card. But loss of point and some mistakes during whole season both internally and externally has led team not to get enough results and secure its stay at the Super League becoming 1st side in history of league to be relegated after winning league title 9 years ago. Bursaspor needs to have some crucial changes as club and aim to be raised once again to Super League after having 1 season at 1st league division but it wont be an easy one for them and as team it needs to do some crucial changes technically and administratively.

Meanwhile, luckily for Yeni Malatyaspor it has managed to get 5th spot for Europa League as Antalyaspor has lossed to Fenerbahce in last week game with 3:1 scoreline.

Erzurumspor has shown positive performance but lack of quality attackers led them to be relegated. 

In similar manner as Bursaspor, Erzurumspor has shown right performance against Kayserispor as it chances to stay at league has been weakest among other relegated zones side as it needed other teams to lose points.

However, it has shown attitude which it did during whole season which has been at aiming to provide positive football always looking for chances and aiming to show positive side of game with also strong support it has recieved from home fans whole season. An issue which was present at Erzurumspor is lack of quality attackers which hence did push team to have few amount of goals during whole season but as been mentioned an attitute which was shown by players has been very positive and deserve lots of praise. This additute and possibly some additions to the side could lead team to comeback to Super League next season for sure.

Erzurumspor did provide lots of positive view and opinions during this season, but as been mentioned lack of quality forward players has prevented them to find crucial goals which would lead to points which it has missed to stay at league.

Erzurumspor as always showed positive football but it wasnt enough. 

Erzurumspor needs to be most lucky to get through to the next stage as it was waiting for loss of points both from Goztepe and Bursaspor to stay at the Super League, but as other teams it has stayed highly focussed towards game and has managed to beat Kayserispor with 2:0 scoreline.

Erzurumspor in fact has aimed to provide high level performance with positive football which has recieved high amount of praises in this season but due of some lack of qualities in its players didnt manage to stay at the top league after the game. Galatasaray has spend today with celebrating its 22nd Super League title and also 8th title it has got with Fatih Terim even through in same time as expected it has ended season with loss to Sivasspor with 2nd squad.

Galatasaray this season performance has been specifically dramatic and memorable as it has come back from 8 points from Basaksehirspor and even more dramatically for both sides to some extend has secured its league title with a win against Basaksehirspor at its home ground. It needs to be stated meanwhile that yesterday performance has shown that it does need some transfers especially for substitutes as it was visible against Sivasspor that its alternative squad is not in great condition. Still, whole side as always has won this league title and during whole season has shown high level performance especially towards end. Following Galatasaray assistant coach Levent Sahin and administrators has stated that their were dissapointed to end season with a loss but in all fairness this game didnt mean much and it was normal for players not to show whole high performance.

As it was known Besiktas did come out to the last week game against Kasimpasa as it needed to draw game to secure its 3rd place spot to get direct entry and which it has succeeded to do so as it has won its opponent with 3:2 scoreline.

As it was stated prior to last week games, those games for most amount of the teams has been more or less formality games and also for Besiktas losing its title race and also Champions League it was expected that Besiktas could have shown lack of concentration towards game but due of also opponent Kasimpasa which doesnt have also any aims has and also Guven Yalcin hat-trick and get performance for today has provided good result for them. This game has also been last game of Senol Gunes as Besiktas head coach as he would start his career as Turkish National Team head coach, and hence it was also important for side to farewell its coach with good performance and result which it has managed to do so. Besiktas could be only dissatisfied including even after losing to Galatasaray that it didnt use much chance for 2nd spot and Champions League spot as it has lost to Trabzonspor last week. Still, Besiktas did have some good moments and upper performances and does provide some positive signs for next season Europa League as long as it gets good coach and some transfers.
