What happened in Turkish football today? 15/12/2017

Bursaspor has capacity to give some worrying time to Trabzonspor

Following Turkish Cup 5th round 2nd leg games, excitement of Super League would be starting with one of the main games of this week between Trabzonspor and Bursaspor where both sides does come in good form even through Bursaspor did lose last week to Fenerbahce.

With also both sides gaining motivation and confidence from getting through to last 16 during midweek games, both sides would be meeting with each other. Even through this are among games which are too close to call, it needs to be stated that Trabzonspor are coming out with 4 wins back-to-back at the Super League and are in high motivation and it wont be an easy task. However, task for Trabzonspor is not either easy as it is known that Bursaspor head coach Paul Le Guen during last week against has shown great respect to Fenerbahce and it is unclear if he would be precautious in same manner. Meanwhile, there was worrying news that Le Guen has felt unwell during bus trip after landing to Trabzon after plane and was taken to hospital but expected to be pleasant at the game tomorrow. This factor might provide more motivation to Bursaspor player to make their coach happy.

Therefore, even through Trabzonspor does come out with statistically great form its not playing its best game yet and win by Bursaspor will not be seen as big surprise.

Last 16 draw for Turkish Cup has been taken place today.

With Turkish Cup 5th round ties being over there was taken draw today for last 16 stage which did in fact provide pretty favourable result for big clubs with possibly Trabzonspor having toughest draw as it would meet with winners of Turkish Cup Konyaspor.

However, even through without doubt Konyaspor does take Turkish Cup in serious manner their are not in good form and it needs to be stated that two ties which would take after next week and 2nd leg at mid-January promises to give pretty exciting game to view. Another big 4 teams which has got a tough opponent, since its also Super League side is Besiktas as it would be meeting with Osmanlispor which with poor performance at Super League could aim to win Turkish Cup as sign of prestige. With Besiktas likely to get more closer worrying about Bayern Munich game at March might even provide some hope for Osmanlispor. Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, Basaksehirspor would respectfully meet with Bucaspor, Istanbulspor and Giresunspor which are at division below are expected to show good performance during this ties.

So, with Turkish Cup getting into more exciting stage we could see pretty good last 16 games as games would be much tougher for sure compare to pretty straightforward 5th round games.

Fatih Terim waits for official offer from Bosnia and Herzegovina Football Federation

Bosnia and Herzegovina administrator Tarik Hodzic has stated today that Fatih Terim seems to be interested to be appointed as countries national team head coach role and currently waiting for official offer from Bosnia and Herzegovina Football Federation.

There were reports from meeting that it was going pretty well but there might be disagreements with salary as Fatih Terim would be expecting much higher salary compare to his predecessor, but this development either shows that Terim has changed his view or doesnt represent the truth. Bosnia without doubt after pretty unsuccessful World Cup 2018 qualifier aims to bring someone who has great experience and have some cultural connection with country and Fatih Terim could be best option. There is also reports that Bosnia are interested to appoint also Sven-Goran Eriksson who has also great career but doesnt have that cultural touch. This news is likely to develop even more and it is curious if deal would be made before new year.

It needs to be stated that this option for Fatih Terim would be good one and would in fact calm down Galatasaray administration and head coach Igor Tudor as talks of his replacement with Terim carries on at media.
