What happened in Turkish football today? 07/03/2024

Fenerbahce got an impressive advantage in Royale Union tie.

Fenerbahce has got an important advantage at Conference League last 16 1st leg game against Royale Union with 3:0 scoreline at away game at the game where it provided strong tactical game and used its opportunities.

It needs to be mentioned that before an opening goal from Michy Batshuayi at 20th minute, Royale Union did look to be more effective and creative at attacking game but it does need to be mentioned that Fenerbahce did show some strong and organised defensive game with Livakovic making some crucial saves. It was also to some extend ironic for opening goal to come from Belgium player Michy Batshuayi who did find himself. After that goal Fenerbahce did look to be more confident and to some extend did play more agressive game but once again didnt forget about defence. With looking like Fenerbahce would be fine with 1:0 win, it did find a great goal from Jayden Oosterwelde when looking into how it was exucited and Dusan Tadic penalty goal following handball has provided result which did make an important step for quarter-final.

As been mentioned above, despite of scoreline Royale Union didnt provide very poor performance as it did play an attacking game especially during 1st half and did fulfill all expectations of being attacking game but couldnt overpass organised opponent defence.

Hence, Fenerbahce did get an important advantage in this tie and could be looking forward in optimistic manner for 2nd leg in Istanbul.

Galatasaray are being favourites against Rizespor but it would be tough.

Galatasaray would resume its title race with home game against on-form Rizespor as Istanbul giant would be coming out as favourite but it would be tough game as opponent would come to game with high confidence and motivation.

As we are entering to last 10 weeks of season which been battle between Galatasaray and Fenerbahce, Galatasaray would be coming with slight advantage of 2 points for last 10 games and it would be aiming to keep this advantage at least after this weekend game as it would be expected to get strong support from its fans. Galatasaray are being favourites as they did momentum following win against Besiktas and also capability to get wins in whatever circumstances. Rizespor on their part would be coming with strong confidence and belief that it could get surprising result and not being under pressure could lead them to show brave football.

Galatasaray are coming out as favourites but it would need to show top level game and provide dominant game on field.

Gaziantep makes deal with Selcuk Inan for head coach position

Gaziantep has announced that it has made principal deal with Selcuk Inan for head coach role after terminating contract with Marius Sumudica on previous day.

Even through when looking solely Selcuk Inan doesnt have significant experience as head coach role he did work for long year with Fatih Terim as his assistant at Galatasaray and hence did get some lessons and coaching view during that period. Having actually pretty good squad and having an aim to get further from relegation zone could provide lots of pressure to Inan but it is manageable and doable thing as long as he gets along with players at team.

To some extend, Selcuk Inan being one of the best options which is available right now and he can get some good results with Gaziantep.
