What happened in Turkish football today? 11/03/2024

Besiktas continues unstable and ineffective performance with losing to Gaziantep

Besiktas continues its unstable performance at the league as it has lost to Gaziantep at away game with 2:0 as it didnt provide much fighting performance and has failed to get control of the game for 90 minutes.

Even through when looking at the position of the table, this outcome could be seen as unexpected one but taking account how Besiktas has performed in recent weeks it shouldnt be seen as much surprise when taking account how team performs during this season and especially with Fernando Santos. One of the areas which Besiktas has failed is to show any reaction when getting 1:0 behind which led to Gaziantep to control game as it wished and with 2nd goal did get deserved win while Besiktas continues show worrying signs.

Gaziantep meanwhile did show great start with its newly appointed coach Selcuk Inan which without doubt did motivate his players for the game and has provided optimistic and organised game and does hence provide important signs for upcoming weeks.

Besiktas continues to show some worrying signs both with result but more important performance wise and hence would need to improve level of performance on the field.

Fenerbahce gets crucial win at controversial game.

Fenerbahce has got a win at pretty difficult and controversial against before-last team Pendikspor with 4:1 scoreline in the game where Pendikspor side actions and referee Kadir Saglam decisions has dominated game.

It needs to be mentioned that game could be divided into two halves where it has been noted more due of factors not directly related to football quality. Pendikspor did waste time for most amount of 1st half via lying on the field for long time and also negative reaction which Fenerbahce did have due of such attitude while 2nd half could be seen that referee Kadir Saglam was making decisions closer to Fenerbahce which led him to not getting likely games until end of the season. Still, it does need to be mentioned that Fenerbahce players did again show their attitude to win game and did get goals after 60th minutes with 3 of them coming in the last minutes of the game.

Fenerbahce carries on its intense title race with Galatasaray and has shown right attitude especially in 2nd half.

Arda Guler scores his first goal with Real Madrid

Real Madrid player Arda Guler has scored his first goal at his club as he found last goal of Celta Vigo making final scoreline 4:0 and this goal could provide him  much more confidence and motivation for rest of the season.

Coming out from substitutes, Arda Guler has been highly focussed at the game and even through it could be argued that task of Real Madrid during game has been fulfilled this goal very likely would provide strong confidence boost towards player and would be able to start recieving more playing times in upcoming games. With this season due of injury and later being in substitution, it was important for player to stay focussed and worked on which he did and been rewarded with such goal at one of the leading clubs in world.

This goal as been noted is being very important for his career in Spanish side and would have important confidence boost for upcoming season.
