What happened in Turkish football today? 12/02/2020

Away goal by Bammou has helped Alanyaspor to get to semi-final.

Alanyaspor has qualified to Turkish Cup semi-final despite of losing to Galatasaray with 3:1 scoreline but goal from Bammou on 32nd minute has become crucial goal as it helped them to get through with away goal rule with 3:3 aggregate scoreline.

It needs to be admitted that compare to 1st leg Galatasaray did show much more focus to the game and did provide strong attacking game with creating chances until last minute and giving it all. In fact with 1st leg not very strong squad which Galatasaray came out it gave view that it didnt give high improtance to competition but with way it has performed in this game provided different view. Stating that among finding either 2+ goals in this fixture it did have difficult tasl of not conceding against team which provides very strong attacking perfomrance scoreline in all games recent week and being among sides running for title. Specific notice should be given to Adem Buyuk without doubt who has found 2 goals and carries on providing strong performance showing even better performance which would been make him provide some pressure without doubt to Falcao and Terim possibly making difficult choice between two players. Galatasaray needs to be praised for giving their all to get to semi-final but conceded goal and more important 1st leg made them pay in this tie.

Alanyaspor with providing high level performance in recent weeks did come out to game with favourites to get into semi-final even through expectation for them to win game have been low and this has been played crucial role in this tie. With showing right reaction at finding goal after conceding on 1st half and hence getting away goal advantage has led for opponent to find 3 goals and even through their did have difficult period after score became 3:1 on 85th minute it still managed to do so. It was crucial for them to score goal and their did just that so it was mission accomplished for them.

Alanyaspor did manage to convert their good performance in league to Turkish Cup too and can set difficut but technically possible aim with historical double this season while Galatasaray would be satisfied for effort given today.

Fenerbahce showed calm performance against Kirklarelispor

After securing its semi-final ticket to the Turkish Cup from 1st leg game, to some extend 2nd leg game for Fenerbahce against Kirkalerispor as been noted before hand has been formality game for them as it got to next stage with 4:0 aggregate scoreline.

It needs to be noted that game to some extend has been played in such manner with Fenerbahce controlling game with not raising tempo into very high pace with Kirkalerispor providing much more better performance especially taking account that side is 2 divisions below them. Kirkalerispor for sure, regardless how tournaments ends and not referring to Fenerbahce results, did provide most memorable performance in competition and did mark their mark without doubt. Meanwhile, without doubt main focus for Fenerbahce has been newly-signed Simone Fallette who started game and Hasan Ali Kaldirim who did come out from injury with both players providing strong and confident performance even through its hard to measure both players in such game.

Fenerbahce now would be focussing to Super League as it would be playing against Ankaragucu where it would end its loss period in the league.

Sivasspor and Antalyaspor would start from scratch in 2nd leg.

Without doubt one of the awaited and unpredictable tie during this Turkish Cup quarter-final has ended up being Sivasspor and Antalyaspor as both sides would be playing from scratch due of 0:0 result from 1st leg.

It needs to be noted that Sivasspor who has been seen as main title contender when we entered to new year break, did lose some points in recent performance and seems not to provide same level performance mainly due of injuries. Therefore, this game against Antalyaspor it could be treating as turning point and see it as opportunity to regain motivation for Trabzonspor game this week. Antalyaspor which doesnt provide strong performance in recent weeks meanwhile would also take this game seriously and provide high level performance. It needs to be noted that taking account Sivas is having very cold winter, weather could also play role and there is even possibility for game to be postponed even through it would become clear tomorrow.

It would be intereresting game with both sides would give them all for sure both due of 1st leg result and to gain motivation for rest of season.
