What happened in Turkish football today? 07/03/2018

Besiktas sends complaint about PFDK decision about Quaresma 5-game ban.

The 5-game ban which was given by PFDK towards Besiktas player Ricardo Quaresma during Turkish Cup semi-final 1st leg  game has been continued with club aiming to reduce this ban to one game and delay this decision.

Besiktas aims to show towards PFDK and TFF that actions which has led for angry response from Ricardo Quaresma has been provocated from Fenerbahce player Josef de Souza and Mehmet Ekici. Club stated that the ban should be taken alltogether and insted those Fenerbahce players should be referred and recieve bans for their provacative actions. In this argument, Besiktas has also send videos and photos from that incident aiming to prove that their are correct  regarding those complains and argument that Quaresma has been provocated for providing those actions. This is without doubt a direct action from team due of recieving 5-game ban and direct criticism to PFDK.

It needs to be taken account that even through PFDK might take into consideration arguments about
Fenerbahce players it is very unlikely that it would change Quaresma plan drastically with at best it being fallen to 3 games.

Galatasaray sacked Cenk Ergun from football director role.

It became clear from media reports which has been made earlier this week that Galatasaray has sacked its football director Cenk Ergun who has provided high number of role during recent period especially during reign of Dursun Ozbek at the team.

However, with Mustafa Cengiz getting appointed as CEO of the club and going through big changes inside the administrative side of the team, role of Cenk Ergun has become less and less and his appearances at the media has been reduced to almost none. Therefore, the factor that Cenk Ergun has left team should not be seen as big surprise and was awaited factor. Mustafa Cengiz until now has been mainly busy with providing some number of the changes both at economical factors and controlling situation but didnt provide crucial changed factors up to now. Cenk Ergun sacking without doubt has also been motivated from Galatasaray head coach Fatih Terim who was seeking to bring to the team his own man at the team as much as possible.

Right now, there are rumours that Bursaspor are showing interest to appoint Cenk Ergun as club's sports director and time would show how Ergun would look for such offer from Super League side.

Galatasaray will go through drastic changes with players contract next season.

With Galatasaray CEO Mustafa Cengiz focussing into reducing debt and raising gain to the club in upcoming period, he is planning to go to drastic changes with contracts with taking away additional aspects which are based at the contract.

This move without doubt has been motivated prior to UEFA meeting regarding of their FFP situation and reduce of recieving harsh fines and ban from European tournaments during next season. Mustafa Cengiz during summer transfer window deals aims to take away sections such as paying for taxes, finding and paying for house rent and also car rentals and also take away all of the bonuses expect of performance bonuses. Even through this changes does sound reasonably, most of the contract with Galatasaray players especially with foreign ones are including those factors and might lead to some issues especially with current players as until now their had enjoyed this luxirious. But with team seeking to raise its gains and reduce debt it needs to be noted that those changes are crucial for a team and should be explained like that towards players so their understand.

With UEFA meeting coming on 9th March, Galatasaray CEO Mustafa Cengiz has many works to reduce among of damages which it can get from organisation but it does look like it would be able not to get ban from European competitions on next season.
