What happened in Turkish football today? 13/03/2018

Trabzonspor has got an important win against Akhisarspor.

Trabzonspor did manage to show high level of improvement against Akhisarspor during Super League 25th week with 3:1 scoreline compare to other games played in this calendar year and it would need to carry on this performance until end of the season for Europa League spot.

Even through in overall, this season could be seen as another wasted one as it lost its league title chances, it still has chance to end its 50th anniversary season at the Europa League spot if it continues similar performace as it did at the game yesterday. Even through it did start game in pretty poor form without being able to get control of the game starting from 25th minute of 1st half it has improved its performance creating high number of the chances. Even through Burak Yilmaz did find goal, it was important for other players to find goals to get share of goals which seems to be main issue of the team right now. Another important factor for Trabzonspor has been to reduce number of the chances to be created from Akhisarspor only conceding at last moment of the game. Right now, team without doubt has got very important motivational boost and confidence which would be crucial at the game against Yeni Malatyaspor.

Assuming that Trabzonspor has administrative issues and preparing for CEO election it was important at sports side to get such crucial result and keep its hopes for Europe next year arrive.
Besiktas needs to aim for best game against Bayern Munich so it can end competition at high note at this memorable performance at group stage.

Besiktas would be aiming to end its memorable Champions League campaign at the memorable note at its home game against Bayern Munich after it has lost 1st leg game with 5:0 scoreline.

Certainly, 1st leg game would affect to the motivation and focus of the players for 2nd leg game and it could be understandable for them to play game with low motivation but in same time it has good chance to aim for a win and provide some points towards UEFA ranking as Turkey without doubt is among countries which does need points to maximise its involvement at the tournament for near future. Therefore, at the game which by itself doesnt have any aims it is important to provide good football and end this competition at high note and remind everyone its performance at home and behaviour of fans which has dominated this season competition during group stage and has made team one of the most-talked in the world. With Bayern Munich also being relaxed from 1st leg their can achieve that as did Basel against Manchester City last week as their won them 2:1 even through losing 1st leg with 4:0 scoreline.

Besiktas winning Bayern Munich would be wrongfly be related as historical as their lost 1st game with 5:0 scoreline but their win would make at least raise some prestige and also points to Turkish sides at UEFA.

Standard Liege would pay 1.5 million euro option to Galatasaray for Pedro Cavanda transfer.

It became clear that Standard Liege has agreed to pay 1.5 million euro to Galatasaray for transfer of Pedro Cavanda who is currently loaned to Belgian side and this certainly would be good news for Turkish side.

Galatasaray has been sonsidering to sell its player Cavanda for long time and as best resort has managed to loan him to Belgian side Standard Liege, and thankfully their seem to be satisfied with his performance as their agreed to pay 1.5 million euro optional transfer fee to sign him in upcoming days. This would allow to have extra cash and have one extra spot at the times when it does need cash as all other clubs around Turkey. It needs to be stated however that Galatasaray would be hoping to recieve similar kind of news from other unwanted loan players to make its squad easiness and flexibility. This decision could also been seen for Belgian league, to all fairness, being below at difficulty and hence allowed Cavanda to get adapted to league easier.

It is expected that official transfer announcement would be made in upcoming days unless some last minute changes.
