What happened in Turkish football today? 10/09/2023

Trabzonspor has signed Nicolas Pepe for 1-year.

Trabzonspor has announced that it has signed Nicolas Pepe until end of the season for 1,750,000 euro until end of the season as it did get an important player at its disposal and is expected to have lots of positive impact into overall performance of the team.

It needs to be mentioned that Pepe did have decline of performance in recent years especially during his stay at Arsenal but it needs to be remembered that he has lots of potential which he did show in recent years and as long he does get adapted fast to Trabzonspor and league it would be expected for him to raise into performance level and become an important player. This week through he would need to work hard during training session to be available for Besiktas game in good condition in the league.

Trabzonspor hence did get an important player at its disposal and hence would be able to show some good performance in upcoming weeks.

Stefan Kuntz should not get all blame.

There has been lots of criticism towards Stefan Kuntz which been building up from start of this Euro 2024 campaign and has been raised even more following draw against Armenia.

As been noted on our early blog entries it is without doubt unacceptable results to almost lose to Armenia as Bertug Yildirim late goal didnt save draw, but it would be still too harsh to say that Turkey as it been unlucky in many chances and has been side to control game. It also needs to be mentioned that Turkish sports media didnt been very good relationship with Stefan Kuntz for long time, calling for resignation for some time now even through stats are not too bad and despite this draw Turkey still has some good chances to get to Euro 2024 even through it cant afford to lose points much. As been in some blog entries here it also needs to be mentioned that results doesnt change much with changes of coaches, so maybe solution should be somewhere else like to youth facilities.

Stefan Kuntz is not possibly getting best result from Turkish National Team but throwing all blames towards him might be also wrong.

2 Qatari clubs are interested to sign Dries Mertens

It has become clear that 2 Qatari clubs are showing an interest to sign Galatasaray player Dries Mertens and could be sending transfer offers and it would be interesting to see how club would react.

Among signing some new names during this transfer window, Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk aim has been to keep players from previous season in tact and he has managed to do so and hence it would not be expected for him to want for Mertens to be sold but as it is known Arabic clubs tend to provide a high transfer offers, with Qatar being one of them, so if this two clubs would send high offers it would be interesting to see how both player and Galatasaray adminsitrators would respond.

Therefore, there could be some actions regarding Mertens future and as always our accounts would follow all developments.
