Galatasaray did get unexpected draw against Zalgiris
Galatasaray has started both its Champions League campaign and also 2023-24 football season with an away draw game against Lithuanian side Zalgiris with 2:2 scoreline with all goals coming during 2nd half.
It needs to be mentioned that synthetical field at LFF stadium did have its impact to performance as Zalgiris did feel to be more comfortable and hence this led for side to control game and create some chances during 1st half. Galatasaray still did try to get some control of the ball and did have some very good chances but still did have trouble to get full control of the game especially during 2nd half as Zalgiris did find goal on start of 2nd half. In fact, Galatasaray did have trouble to get an equaliser but it did find goal with Abdulkerim Bardakci on 75th minute and with goal coming from Halil Darvisoglu getting ahead did provide hope that it turned around tie however lack of concentration has led for side to concede goal from Katzuakis and hence led for tie to be still open for 2nd leg.
Zalgiris did come out as underdog for game but still has provided pretty brave football and has aimed to provide lots of pressure towards Galatasaray and it achieved that which led them to find goals as game progressed and has kept some chances alive for 2nd half.
Without doubt, this result would be seen as dissapointing for Galatasaray but 2 goals coming between 75-78th minute has provided side to look forward for 2nd leg at home where it would be coming out as clear favourite.
Fenerbahce will start its Conference League campaign
Fenerbahce would be starting its 2023-24 season at Conference League with 2nd qualifying round 1st leg game against Moldavian side Zimbru as it would be coming out as favourite and would just need to focus to provide strong performance.
With having high number of transfers during this summer transfer window, Fenerbahce has set an important message to everyone that it has high aims for this upcoming season and it would be starting such period with a game against Zimbru at the game where it would be coming out as strong favourites. As the case, with other Turkish sides on this stage of tournament it would need to stay focussed and not let Zimbru to get into game and otherwise it would be having simple game.
Playing at home ground it would be aiming to get advantegous scoreline without doubt and hence we could see an attacking side.
Ali Palabiyik has ended his referee career.
Turkish referee Ali Palabiyik has announced that he has ended coaching career which lasted for 23 years and did have some good moments and bad moments.
When looking at Palabiyik performance at Super League referee he has been seen one of the best referees in Turkey with showing very good performance and has shown some memorable games including derby ones and also been during almost his career as FIFA badged. It needs to be stated that he did resign from his own will possibly from high number of pressure he did recieve from TFF and general from media.
Such decision does show also that referee doesnt feel themselves comfortable and also that they under pressure.
