What happened in Turkish football today? 20/06/2019
Genclerbirligi has appointed Mustafa Kaplan as club's head coach.
Genclerbirligi has appointed Mustafa Kaplan as club's head coach for 1 year, as he joined team from another Super League Ankara side, Ankaragucu after providing reasonably good performance and paying an important role to keep side at top league.
As it was stated on earlier blogs, Genclerbirligi does see this season at showing good comeback to the Super League after being relegated to lower league at previous season. Being side which did show mark at top league, one of the main aims to make sure this team would be able to show strong and confident performance at top league is to get coach who knows how to work at this circumstances and Mustafa Kaplan has shown that he is capable to overcome this with his performance at Ankaragucu. It needs to be stated that this appointment is being seen as good decision and Kaplan has all capabilities to move this team forward and lead team to have a season which it fans has missed after 1-season absence.
Time as always would show if Mustafa Kaplan would be successful at Genclerbirligi but for now it doesnt look to be any reason why he shouldnt have good season at his new club.
Yeni Malatyaspor has signed Moryke Fofana for 2 years.
Yeni Malatyaspor, who as known would be earliest team to open season due of Europa League 2nd qualifying round games, has signed Moryke Fofana for 2 years after player has shown good performance during last season.
As it is known, most of the clubs during this summer transfer window among expected to be going quiet, has also provided main focus into players who are experienced to this league, at least with with early signings. Yeni Malatyaspor 1st signing of this summer has also been done in such manner, as among Fofana being used to the Super League but also shown pretty good strong performance with Sivasspor during last season. With also Yeni Malatyaspor primary aim for now is to get to the Europa League group stage, which it needs to play in total of 6 games at qualifications, it would need to get high quality players and Fofana are among them. Surely, he would be able to move team forward at each front for next season with such transfer.
Moryke Fofana does look on paper at least as good transfer for Yeni Malatyaspor and as player would be able to push forward during next season.
Emmanuel Adebayor has left Basaksehirspor.
Basaksehirspor player Emmanuel Adebayor after providing some good performance in recent season has announced publicly that he will not stay at club with his farewell message.
It was known that Adebayor would be leaving team as soon as season has ended as he didnt provide good performance towards ends of the season due of old age and also not being able to provide high level performance physically. However, it needs to be noted that Adebayor has provided strong and memorable performance being among one of the main reasons for side to provide high level performance for league title during last 2 seasons. Meanwhile, it also expected that Adebayor could be staying in Turkey possibly even joining Besiktas or Fenerbahce where his role would be mainly of providing his experience to younger players rather than provide affect on the field.
Emmanuel Adebayor as been stated did provide good performance to Basaksehirspor and played an important role for team to find itself at title race in recent season but with his age it was time for him to leave club.
