What happened today in Turkish football? 28/09
Deniz Coban resigns but its not his fault
Undoubtedly, the most discussed event which took place today was apology and resignation of the Turkish referee Deniz Coban during 6th week Super League game between Kasimpasa and Rizespor.
Coban following the game during TV interview with Kasimpasa head coach Riza Calimbay, Coban has approached to Calimbay and has said that he is very sorry for making wrong decissions including last minute penaly decision to the Rizespor, which has brought 1:1 scoreline.
At the interview, Coban has said that he was coming to the end of his career which could be reason for his poor decisions at the game. Even through Coban has tried to personalize to his mistakes, this not only his fault but fault of all Turkish football.
Only yesterday during derby game between Besiktas and Fenerbahce, game's referee Halis Ozkahya has made numerous decisions such as did ball go out prior to second goal of Fenerbahce, was first goal offside or not. Even Calimbay following game said that he can't focus into analysis of game and is sadly shocked of announcement by Coban.
Central Referee Committee needs to make sure that it teaches its referees in correct manner according to rules book and teaches them to make fast decision or those problem will carry on in Turkish football.
Ertuglul Saglam should be given second chance
Second headline of the day has arrived also from another game, this time between Bursaspor and Eskisehirspor, which also arises long time problem of Turkish football, and not specifically, which is own fans booing head coach of its team.
Ertuglul Saglam, head coach of Bursaspor, has experienced worst experience which could happen to any coach at his career. It is true that Bursaspor is not having great season and had only 3 points prior to today's game and was at zone of relegation.
However, Saglam has arleady proven to its fans and whole Turkey that he is great trainee by ending monopoly of titles by Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, Besiktas and Trabzonspor. Plus, its only start of the season and Bursaspor can become better.
It is important to note that Bursaspor has lost all its good players mainly to Fenerbahce in summer transfer window, so it is normal for club to have difficult times but it does not mean club is unable to solve as season progresses, but negative reaction by fans won't make process faster. Thankfully goals by Necid and Faty has brought some hope to the struggling team.
Pereira needs to understand psychology of the club
Today during beginning of education year in Turkey, Fenerbahce head coach Vitor Pereira has met with some of the students. During the meeting, Pereira said to the media that he will do his best to make team championship in the end of the season. Pereira is capable and is highly expected to make club champions but for now he has some issues to solve at the club.
Firstly, Pereira seems to have problems to manage his star players and understand psychology of the whole squad. Robin van Persie and Nani had shown arleady numerous times that there are unhappy with decision made by Pereira towards them and whole to the club during games. Nani had criticised substitutes made by Pereira and Van Persie clearly said he is unhappy to be sitting in the bench.
Secondly, it seems that Pereira has problem, which Slaven Bilic had with Besiktas, which is losing important games so far. Apart of game against Atromitos, Pereira has lost game against Shaktar Donetsk ,Molde and Besiktas. Main reasons of this defeat was lack of concentration and mistakes at defence.
