What happened in Turkish football today? 23/01/2018

Galatasaray has managed to win one of the toughest away games in this season.

Even through it could been argued that Galatasaray didnt manage to show a very good performance during whole game against Kayserispor during Super League 18th week it needs to be aware that it played a game against one of the in-form teams right now at the league and hence did get an important win.

Galatasaray high-level performance during 1st half has been become true from three factors more or less which are been by Galatasaray coming out to find goals as early as possible, Kayserispor not getting into game until 2nd half and also mistakes shown by referee of the game especially with 1st goal of the game which was clear offside by 63 metres. Galatasaray didnt show similar performance  during 2nd half which surely provided some worries for fans but substitutes to Fatih Terim does show that he has solutions to this issue, a factor which was specifically missing from Igor Tudor as he couldnt make an important changes to team as game progressed. Another important issue being that this is been 1st win for newly-elected CEO Mustafa Cengiz who without trouble would do everything for this performance to be continued at least until May.

Galatasaray has also won its 1st away game at the league for Fatih Terim and also first 1st win after 4 games and this would provide high number of motivation for away games in upcoming weeks.

Sivasspor transfers Robinho for 1.5 years.

One of the biggest transfer deals which has been made in Turkey during this mid-season transfer window has been done by Sivasspor which has managed to transfer Robinho for 1.5 years.
There is lots of talks if how successful he would be at the Turkish team as he did provide very good performance during his younger age he didnt show much of the successful performance during recent years and has lost speed and skill so its unclear if such an excitement at the team could turn into high performance. In other words, it is more likely sadly that he would turn to be similar to Samir Nasri rather than Emmanuel Adebayor. However, Robinho might in contrast find this as good chance to show Turkey and rest of the world that he is capable to become a great player and have great season which without doubt high number of Sivasspor would like to see.

The time would show if Robinho would become another player to show his great performance in Turkey or be another transfer mistake which would end up for Sivasspor to spend lots of money for nothing.

Mustafa Cengiz gave arleady signs of important changes after being elected. 

Mustafa Cengiz in surprising manner has managed to become Club's new CEO during Galatasaray early CEO election on 20th January and becoming 1st CEO in club history to provide loss to ongoing CEO.

This election results without doubt does show that all criticisms which was send towards Galatasaray in recent periods has been turned into numbers, with difference of 70 votes and appointing Fatih Terim as club's head coach didnt manage to save Dursun Ozbek. Mustafa Cengiz has started his turn as club's CEO officially today and has arleady stated that he aim is to keep Fatih Terim as club's head coach and also aim to reduce debt to almost none during his period. Galatasaray has won after long time an away game with great performance during 1st half. 

Galatasaray has managed to win an important Super League 18th week game against tough opponent Kayserispor with 3:1 scoreline at the game which has been played with two different halves, as Galatasaray has shown great start at the game but 2nd half was dominated by Kayserispor.

Galatasaray have shown very good start during 1st 25th minutes as team has dominated game and has found 2 goals from Eren Derdiyok who has scored his 1st two goals during this season. With factor that Kayserispor has been pretty far from their used performance has helped Galatasaray to dominate game in 1st half. However, as Kayserispor has improved their performance during 2nd half, Galatasaray did show that its still has issue at away game even through Galatasaray goalkeeper Fernando Muslera saves during this period likely to be played an important role as Kayserispor has found very good chances. In fact, there was risk for Galatasaray to lose points if Garry Rodrigues didnt found goal towards end of the game which has put final dot of the game. Galatasaray didnt show great 2nd half which would provide to Fatih Terim to recognize weeknesses which team currently have.

Kayserispor in surprising manner didnt show performance which would been expected from them but during 2nd half it has shown great attacking game with Umut Bulut once again scoring a goal against top 4 clubs in the country and does show that it can show good game at the top despite of poor 1st half.

Galatasaray in all of the criticism did manage to win away game after long time and has once again shown as confident team with Fatih Terim being coach of the team.

Besiktas has managed to win an important against Antalyaspor with help of Talisca.

Besiktas was coming to its 1st game at the Super League after selling its star forward player Cenk Tosun as it has met with Antalyaspor during 18th week game with an question how the team would perform at the front.

Even through it is expected from Alvaro Negredo to take place of the player during upcoming games, it was Anderson Talisca who has provided an attacking performance for a team and among finding 2 goals at the game yesterday, could have scored even more himself. In fact, when coming to the creating chances Talisca has been only player at the whole team. In fact, with taking account with unstable performance from Garry Medel and Domadoj Vida who was playing his 1st game and still being adapted to team and league, has led for their opponents to create high number of the chances. Taking account that Antalyaspor has come out at least to show high level performance and seeking to leave relegation zone did show good performance and provided some promises for upcoming games. Still Besiktas without doubt has won an important game and keeps themselves at the title race as it aims to carry good performance until Bayern Munich game at Champions League.

Besiktas as stated has got an important win and now would be given all of the focus to the upcoming game against Kasimpasa where it would be aiming for a win for sure.

Burak Yilmaz seems to be only player to give high level performance for Trabzonspor. 

Trabzonspor was coming to the Super League 18th week game against Konyaspor certainly as an aim to provide revenge for their loss during Turkish Cup last 16 tie but didnt manage to beat them once again as game ended with 2:2 scoreline.

Even more worrying from Trabzonspor side that it doesnt manage to win game even through it was playing with an extra man for most part of the game and the goal from Milosevic at 73rd minute seemed to wake them up as Burak Yilmaz has shown come back during 7 minute period. However, Konyaspor player Orkan Cinar with a great free-kick has prevented win for Trabzonspor. Meanwhile, one of the issues at the Trabzonspor seems to be that it has been mainly lead by Burak Yilmaz while other players are not showing same level performance which could provide lots of issues for its fighting for league title during this season as it needs to play more collective football without doubt.In fact, team doesnt show same performance when Yilmaz is not available.

Burak Yilmaz seems to be key player for upcoming Fenerbahce game during 19th week, which could present some issues as Fenerbahce in contrast start playing much better collective game.

What happened in Turkish football today? 21/01/2017

Anderson Talisca has played most important role for Besiktas winning game against Antalyaspor. 

Besiktas player Anderson Talisca has played main role for bringing crucial win for his team during Super League 18th week game against struggling Antalyaspor for a win with 2:1 scoreline at more difficult game than expected.

With taking into condition of the both teams Besiktas has been expected to get simple win against Antalyaspor however with its new head coach Hamza Hamzaoglu has come out with a win and has created number of chances and has managed to find an early goal using an example from Ricardo Quaresma. Meanwhile, Anderson Talisca has shown one of his best performances since his arrival to team with creating all of the chances and scoring 2 goals with having chance to find at least 2 more goals. There were big questions who would take place of Cenk Tosun who has left to Everton and from this game Talisca shows among one of the candidates. Domagoj Vida has also enjoyed his 1st game at the league and did show his best performance but time would show his overall performance as it would be tough to judge from 1 game.

Antalyaspor who is in struggling performance did show a  good performance with showing an attacking football which could be touch of Hamza Hamzaoglu for a team to show better discipline performance and with games coming up it would become clear if it would bring important points which it needs right now.

Besiktas has got an important win and keeps itself at the title race with 6 points behind Basaksehirspor who also has won today with title race getting more excited.

Trabzonspor had some trouble against Konyaspor despite playing with extra man for most game.

Trabzonspor didnt manage to beat Konyaspor which was playing for around 75 minutes with one man less even through didnt manage to create lots of the chances as the game progressed it has ended game with 2:2 scoreline with all of the goals coming in last 13 minutes of game.

Trabzonspor who didnt win Konyaspor during Turkish Cup last 16 tie in both games did come out to the game with high motivation and attacking football which was especially visible from attacks from Burak Yilmaz who didnt play at Turkish Cup. In fact, both goals which were scored during game has been coming from Yilmaz one of them from penalties. Even through Trabzonspor were one to show an attacking game it is worrying that it had so much issue to pass defence of Konyaspor and with aiming for league title this season it has shown some worrying image as the team and needs to find solution to this issue. This game in fact does show that Trabzonspor does lack number of creativity players as it wont be able to show leading game only with Burak Yilmaz in attacks as the season progresses and it needs to show better game against Fenerbahce next week.

Konyaspor meanwhile has shown great character against Trabzonspor with playing most of the game with an extra player from start to end. One of the positive aspects is goal from Orkan Cinar as he only joined team 2 days ago as loan from Besiktas.

Trabzonspor didnt start its 2018 in great manner as it ended with 2 draw results against Konyaspor and have some tough time next week against Fenerbahce for sure.

Fenerbahce needs to spread top level performance game to 90 minutes. 

Without doubt Fenerbahce has won very important game against Goztepe during its race for league title even through its performance wasnt still perfect from which many would be expecting from them.

In fact, Fenerbahce performance at the game has been very different at the draw scoreline and point when it was winning game with 1:0 scoreline. At the time when it didnt have scoreline at its hand it was providing very attacking game finding solutions but when it got scoreline to 1:0 with help from Fernandao who have scored his first goal for long time, it has become too relaxed to the point that it played an important role themselves to concede goal from Andre Poko. Therefore, one of the issue at the team seems to be an issue of spreading game into all of the 90 as if their would be able to play with high concentration and tempo for rest of the game their would be team which would be hard to stop at. Trabzonspor especially with Burak Yilmaz aims to keep the game always at high tempo and hence Fenerbahce needs to solve those issues of not showing great fast game in 90 minutes for that game.

Still, Fenerbahce are fighting for league title at this season and does keep its winning spirit as their didnt lose at league for 12 weeks right now.

Fenerbahce has got an important win against Goztepe despite of not showing dominating during whole game.

Despite of having poor performance for most of the parts by Fenerbahce and being far from its expected performance, it has managed to win very important game against Goztepe with help of an own goal from Kosanovic with unlucky touch in last minutes, as their have won game with 2:1 scoreline.

Fenerbahce however did start game in very good way with high tempo as Giuliano has found very good chance and has hit into upper post at the 15th second of the game. Fenerbahce has carried on similar performance as game has developed showing an attacking football proving that it was aiming for a win. However, as it has found goal during 14th minute from Fernandao it has reduced tempo during the game which has affected for  a team to lose its domination and allowed Goztepe to get into game and raise its motivation and belief. It needs to be stated that even through conceded goal from Andre Poko with simple mistake it needs to be stated that it didnt make much mistakes at the defence but its main issue wasnt mistakes but not dominating game. After conceding Fenerbahce slowly did get an control of the game and with providing pressure did get an important win at the end of the day.
Goztepe didnt manage to start well not expecting such an attacking game from Fenerbahce but as game progressed it went into more brave game and has shown some organising football but it wasnt strong enough to get game into their hand. With this performance Goztepe can end at top 5 but league title would be tough in all honesty.

Fenerbahce has got leadership at the title race at least for 19 hours and would recieve an important motivation as team didnt lose its habit of the game and would now look forward for Trabzonspor game during 19th week.

Besiktas would need to pass closed defence to win against Antalyaspor.

Besiktas which without doubt has high aims for the 2nd half of the season would be resuming its attempt to defend its league title with game against Antalyaspor where it would be having just focus to win game against struggling opponent.

Besiktas would be come out against the opponent which was seeking to make this season among teams to fight for high spots but wasnt able to get. Therefore, it is expected that Besiktas would be coming as favourite but it would need to solve out its problems of not solving finding position of closed sides as it had those issues during most part of 1st half of the season. With Antalyaspor being aware of quality differences between sides and also knowing this weakness of Besiktas would be aiming to provide this kind of football. One of the notes of the game would be also for Besiktas that Domagoj Vida who has recieved his licence from team yesterday would be expected to be playing tomorrow and hence would be able to make his 1st mark to the team at the league.

Besiktas are expected to be favourite side for the game as it would be highly motivated to the game and are aware that are aiming for league title.

Trabzonspor are expected to seek revenge for being relegated from Turkish Cup to Konyaspor. 

Trabzonspor would be aiming to get revenge from Konyaspor following being eliminated from
Turkish Cup last 16 stage with 2:1 scoreline and would be seeking way to provide higher performance.

Trabzonspor has been expected to provide much better an attacking game during that game but Konyaspor has played a smart game with being cup holders and hence this performance has affected them, however Super League would be having different aims as Konyaspor are having poor season right now and would be providing much better focus to Turkish Cup. With taking that in-side and with Trabzonspor expected to provide better focus to game it could be providing more organised and attacking game. Stating that it would be reasonably to expect for Konyaspor to gain high level of motivation from Turkish Cup tie and hence would be coming against Trabzonspor believing that it can beat them as their didnt lose to them in last 2 games in Turkish Cup.

Galatasaray has got into quarter-final of Turkish Cup in confident manner.

Galatasaray carries on its impressive performance since Fatih Terim has been appointed to the role of head coach as team has won comfortably against Bucaspor during Turkish Cup last 16 2nd round game with 3:0 scoreline.

It needs to be stated that Galatasaray has recieved most comfortable scoreline at the aggregate among all of the last 16 ties as it has won it with 6:0 scoreline even through it needs to be reminded that it has played with easiest team at this stage of the tournament. Galatasaray needs to be stated has shown pretty dominating game during all of the games but still it could been argued that Terim didnt still get his strongest test since he has been appointed even through mentally and physically has shown lots of improvement with his appointment but on 22nd January it would be playing with its fellow title race team Kayserispor at away game which would be able to provide some difficult time with also cold weather. It would be also be 1st league game following an election of CEO.

Galatasaray mentally and physically has gained lots of motivation and mood for the upcoming games following those 3 wins and would be looking forward for Kayserispor game certainly.

Fenerbahce and Goztepe would be game with both teams giving their best to win.

Fenerbahce would be restarting its title race for at Super League with fellow team which is hoping to get into title Goztepe during Super League 18th week game as season would be restarted during this weekend.

Fenerbahce would be hoping to get into the right performance which it has shown in recent weeks of the 1st half of the Super League and does need to improve its performance compare to what it has shown at Turkish Cup against Istanbulspor as this performance is not enough. However, as been mentioned beforehand it is clear that team would be getting prepared at different mood to the game knowing that it needs to win game if it wants to end season at high note. With Fenerbahce playing at home it would be coming out as favourite but it would be hard game and if Goztepe manages to play an attacking brave football it can provide some good result at the game.

Turkish Football Federation has announced its slogan for Euro 2024.

Turkish Football Federation has announced today its logo and slogan for Euro 2024 candidacy which it has announced last year and has been focussed mainly into unity with slogan "Share Together".

Turkish Football Federation has been seeking to get hosting rights for either World Cup and European Championship for many years with some being total failures and some being very close including hosting rights for Euro 2016. It is known that Turkish government has been focussed a lot to the building of modern and hi-tech stadiums around Turkey and making game modernised which does put lots of advantage for its candidacy but it does have football national icon Germany as its opponent so things would be tough. Turkey's other bonuses that despite of not hosting those championships, it has managed to host many tournaments of different sports and also Champions League 2005 final, UEFA Cup final of 2006 and would be hosting UEFA Super Cup game on 2019, so it has enough of foundation especially in Istanbul and also in different cities. Winning hosting rights will not be easy but its very possible.

Right now, Turkish Football Federation has task to convince UEFA that it is ready and capable to provide great Euro 2024 and do better job than Germany.

Galatasaray has shown full confidence against Bucaspor at Turkish Cup. 

Galatasaray has taken 2nd leg of the Turkish Cup of the last 16 as serious as 1st leg as it has won game with 3:0 scoreline against Bucaspor and has carried on winning spirit with its new head coach Fatih Terim.

With an appointment of Fatih Terim, Galatasaray has won all of the 3 games as it has provided full control of the game from start to the end. Most important aspects which has happened with Galatasaray is that among winning back to back it has provided an attacking game from start to end and hence has led for a team to show dominating football which Fatih Terim waas seeking for. As it was observed from other opponents during 2nd leg games among big 3, namely Fenerbahce and Besiktas, has taken 2nd leg games in light manner and hence has led to not show full dominance. While Galatasaray was coming to the 2nd leg with most confident scoreline, wasnt affected from 1st leg result and has shown dominating game once again without providing much chance to Bucaspor. Stating that, Bucaspor it needs to be stated is being from 2nd league didnt have much chances against Galatasaray due of huge difference of quality and hence its hard to use this game as good reference point for Galatasaray for Super League, but still team is in good situation right now.

Meanwhile, as been mentioned there was very big level of quality between sides which has led for Bucaspor not to show an upper hand during 2nd leg of Turkish Cup against Galatasaray. Besiktas has got into quarter-final despite losing 2nd leg to Osmanlispor.

Besiktas has managed to get to the Turkish Cup quarter-final stage even through it has lost to Osmanlispor during 2nd leg game with 2:1 scoreline with goals coming at the last 10 minutes. This calmness from Besiktas has been arisen from confident win from 1st leg.

Following game Besiktas head coach Senol Gunes has stated that he was unhappy with performance of the team as their couldnt provide top level performance and were conceding goals from very simple mistakes, including penalty given to the team. Of course, winning 1st leg game with 4:1 scoreline against team which it is superior to (to all respect towards Osmanlispor) has provided high number of calmness from Besiktas players and hence such a calm performance even through would make all coaches around world unhappy would be highly understandable. However, it needs to be fully focussed again with game against Antalyaspor during Super League 18th week game as the competition as always expected would be getting pretty tough with fighting spirit, as all of the games at Super League would be from now on.

Basaksehirspor loans Riad Bajic for 6 months. 

Basaksehirspor has loaned another important name for themselves during this transfer window, Udinese player Riad Bajic for 6 months who without doubt would be playing an important role for a team at the fight of league title.

As it is known, Riad Bajic has made his name in Turkish football at Konyaspor where he played most important role for very good performance of the team in recent time including including league at 4th place 2 seasons ago and also winning Turkish Cup last season and hence has high level of performance for this league and also will not have issue with adapting to the league, two areas which without doubt are good news for Basaksehirspor. Confidence from 1st leg has led Besiktas not to show high level performance against Osmanlispor. 

Despite of losing game during Turkish Cup last 16 2nd leg game with 2:1 scoreline against
Osmanlispor, Besiktas has managed to qualify to the quarter-final stage with 5:3 scoreline due of win at 1st leg game.

All of the 3 goals which were scored during today's game has been come at the last 10 minutes of the game and has been played quiet at low tempo prior to that with Besiktas been confident for getting to the next stage even through the silence has been end by  Pektemek goal from Besiktas at 83rd minute. However, with Osmanlispor coming out to the game with an aim not to lose game has followed for them to turn around scoreline to 2:1 scoreline with two goals from Cikalleshi within 2 minutes. Besiktas has been played with reserve team and also being aware that their got into next stage without much trouble has affected for them to provide such a calmer game.

Osmanlispor as was stated beforehand did come out for not losing the game and hence did provide such performance especially providing much more attacking game after conceding goal. Osmanlispor could have lost game but their got an important motivation prior to start of 2nd half of Super League which expects for them to be tough one.

Fenerbahce has got into quarter-final without showing its best game. 

As was expected, Fenerbahce did manage to pass Istanbulspor during 2 legs during Turkish Cup last 16 stage even through it didnt show their best performance which was visible in the recent weeks at the Super League.

Fenerbahce surprisingly has shown an economical football in both legs which led their opponents to create high number of chances and lack of quality at last touches has prevented Istanbulspor to find goal yet get to the next stage. This could be explained for Fenerbahce to take their opponents likely being certain prior to tie that it would be at quarter-final, factor which could be dangerous and
Fenerbahce was lucky for incapability of opponents to find goals.
