Trabzonspor gets confidence boost after winning amateur club in the Turkish Cup.

Trabzonspor has started its Turkish Cup campaign this season with a comfortable win against amateur club Serhat Ardahanspor with 6:0 scoreline and this win could also provide motivational and confidence boost to the fans and players as 5:1 win for Fenerbahce did few days ago.

It does need to be emphasised that compare to Fenerbahce result at the Super League it was predictable win for Trabzonspor and it was expected to win the game in comfortable manner. But even with taking this into account it was important for them to win game with confident scoreline like 6:0 and also with fact that all goals has been scored by different players. Trabzonspor has been dominating the game from start to the end as it was expected at its own ground despite of not having fans. This result would surely calm down also Trabzon local media and supporters as it provided high amount of trust prior to Super League 5th week game against Konyaspor.

Serhat Ardahanspor as been mentioned was arleady coming out to the game with a loss before a kick-off and only thing it could do is provide its best football which it certainly did. This game would only go as plus for them as it surely provided lots of experience to players.

Samuel Eto'o is taken away from Antalyaspor squad indiffenitely.

Antalyaspor has announced yesterday that it took away from squad its star player Samuel Eto'o from the team squad for indiffenite time following his criticism towards the club at his Instagram account. The following post by the Samuel Eto'o has been made after club's CEO Ali Safak Ozturk has provided some criticism towards transfer period of player with Besiktas.

As it is known during summer transfer window, Besiktas has made transfer negotiations with Antalyaspor player Samuel Eto'o without taking a permission from his team. Samuel Eto'o at least according to the media has agreed to be transferred. Even through club didnt take any direct action towards Eto'o after this event it was observed that his start for this season as for whole team didnt start very well and it has only obtained 1 point after 4 weeks at the Super League. Ali Safak Ozturk at the statement even through didnt have direct comment against Samuel Eto'o did state that his actions were not done correctly to which Samuel Eto'o has shown protest at social networking site. After finding he was taken away from squad, Eto'o stated that following comment was done to one specific person and not to CEO and towards club as overall.

It is clear that events during summer transfer window between Samuel Eto'o and Besiktas has affected for this events to take place and could affect performance of the star player. Right now,
Antalyaspor has stated that defence would be given to the club by Eto'o by which would decide on following actions taken by club regarding of this matter.

Its normal for Fenerbahce for wanting to transfer Eren Derdiyok in summer.

Fenerbahce administrator Mahmut Uslu following 5:1 win against Kasimpasa during Super League 4th week game has stated that the team was interested to transfer Eren Derdiyok after planning to sell Fernandao but it didnt manage to.

It became clear that Fenerbahce did offer 4 million euro offer to Kasimpasa but has frozen this offer believing that noone would try to transfer him while it agrees with Bursaspor for transfer of Fernandao. However, this project didnt go well as their planned due of not be able to sell Fernandao and also Galatasaray has got into transfer market for Eren Derdiyok and have managed to purchase him. This transfer negotiations take place and Mahmut Uslu has made statement. The problem here is how it was said by Mahmut Uslu as providing that it was doing good job but reaction gives to this is also surprising probably trying to make news in those relatively quiet days of early season.

This stuff does happen during transfer window and those statements can be made and would be made but there is no reason to build huge arguments about them.

What happened in Turkish football today? 20.09.2016

Fenerbahce win has come late but not too late.

After very dissapointing start and showing worst start of the season in league history with only 1 point after 3 weeks, Fenerbahce has got a very good and strong response against Kasimpasa by beating them with 5:1 scoreline. Even through the opponent didnt provide much troube to the them, it was important win in sense of motivation and confidence to the team.

It needs to be stated, as it was mentioned in our blog yesterday, that Kasimpasa did play game very poorly and didnt provide any worries for Fenerbahce and hence it will be hard to analyse game in the sense of strength of Fenerbahce. However, the fact that Emmanuel Emenike and Jeremain Lens has played a great game with assists and also fact that goal has been scored by 5 different players means that players and team as overall has obtained high motivation which it desperately needed. Right now its important for a team, which surely aims for league title and success at the Europa League it needs to set this winning streak with 3 important games: Gaziantepspor, Feyenoord and Osmanlispor prior to the national team break. It has also good chances to reduce point difference from its main rivals, Besiktas and Galatasaray as their would play against each other.

Fenerbahce would surely hope for a draw to be taken from that Istanbul derby game and undoubtedly aim for a win against Gaziantepspor. As it is known the 5th week at the league even through is not crucial, its a week which known to more or less structure the league at the table. Hence, even through this win could be seen late its not too late for Fenerbahce to start changing its season and raise up at the table.

Trabzonspor needs to win Serhat Ardahanspor with comfortable score to regain a bit confidence from community.

Among top 4 teams in the Turkey, Trabzonspor is the earliest team to start its journey at the Turkish Cup where it would meet with an amateur club Serhat Ardahanspor where it would aim to obtain a good scoreline and hence raise motivation following dissapointing start of the season which supposed to be transition season for a team.

As would been expected, Trabzonspor would be using youth players and substitutes at the game which would allow head coach Ersun Yanal to study his team and become aware of the strength of his youth team even through Serhat Ardahanspor might not be too strong opponent to make this clear. Even through main players will not be playing at the game it would also raise their motivation and a bit for the fans who are known to be very unhappy with how team has started the season. Trabzonspor head coach Ersun Yanal has recieved lots of pressure from league performance and at least with getting good results he could a bit reduce high number of criticism which he recieves lately.

Parties show signs of away fans derby game fans ban to lifted.

This week is very important for Turkish football as it is opportunity to lift the ban for away fans during the derby games as the first meeting between Istanbul mayor Vahip Sahin Club's Union CEO Goksel Gumusdag, Besiktas CEO Fikret Orman and Galatasaray CEO Dursun Ozbek has been taken place.

The main focus of this meeting has been regarded about lifting ban for the Super League 5th week derby game between Besiktas and Galatasaray to be played on 24th September, but this decision would surely also end the ban for every single derbies this season. During today's meeting, all of the parties has stated that it could be good decision to lift the ban and that there were seeking for, hence providing messages or chance that the ban would be lifted on Thursday in the meeting where all parties would make decision after considering the police and security departments view also. Even through the events at the Super Cup final this season has shown and this blog did mention that it is too early to lift the ban, the good will by club's to lift the ban is possitive factor. But it is an important note for club's CEO also to mae sure that there will do their best for negative events will not take place on derby game days around stadiums.

It is good sign that all parties are showing interest to lift the ban but it is still unclear what decision would be made due of security reasons. Any decision would be seen reasonably when made on 22nd September.

What happened in Turkish football today? 19.09.2016

It was important to get such a comfortbale win for Fenerbahce after poor start to season.

Fenerbahce has won its 1st game at this season with a comfortable scoreline like 5:1 against fellow struggling team Kasimpasa and has regained high motivation after poor start of the season. The game has been mainly dominated by the assists by the Emmanuel Emenike and Jeremain Lens who surely has played their best games since joining the team this summer.

As soon the game has begun it became visible that Fenerbahce as a team is much more motivated for this game as Kasimpasa has played very slow game and since has allowed Fenerbahce to create chances. Even before Josef de Souza has scored 1st goal for a team it became visible that Fenerbahce would dominate this game until the end. Even through as been mentioned assists has played an important role at today's game it needs to be noted that Kasimpasa defence as other parts of the field were very poor today. Fenerbahce arguably at the tempo sense didnt provide best football but by winning game in such comfortable manner could easily be turning point for the season and this could be an important point of restart for Fenerbahce. Meanwhile, it is important that all goals has come from different players namely Josef de Souza, Emenike, Ozan Tufan, Ismail Koybasi and Moussa Sow.

Kasimpasa meanwhile has provided weakest performance so far at the league after 1st 4 weeks and it is obviously that the team needs to improve a lot which it has chance to do with its new head coach Kemal Ozdes but time is running out for them and it would have tough season if their wont find solutions as early as possible.

Fenerbahce has got an important win after very poor start and with scoring 5 goals against weak opponent it would be able to build on this as it was lacking motivation and belief to itself. Best way to regain those is by winning with such a goal margin.

Besiktas has won crucial away game against Akhisar Belediyespor despite of poor game.

Besiktas had trouble at providing top football against one of the toughest opponents of the league Akhisar Belediyespor in Manisa but despite of that has managed to get an important with 2:0 scoreline. This result would surely mean that team would go to the derby game against Galatasaray at the high mood.

It was visible that Besiktas had become tired after very tough Champions League 1st week game against Benfica and hence tried to play game against Akhisar Belediyespor. Taking account that Manisa side is not at same strength as it was observed to be in last 2 years, it was not hard to provide such an important win even through it had played badly at the game. Alessandro Talisca has once again has shown great game yesterday, continuing his raise of performance since at the game against Benfica, and does show that he would become very important player at the side during this season. Besiktas would now focus into Galatasaray derby game on 24th September and it is clear that yesterday performance will not be enough for them to win against them but it is clear that team is capable of much better performance.

Basaksehirspor aims to build on its 100% winning league start.

Despite of the poor performance against Gaziantepspor yesterday, Basaksehirspor carries on 100% start of the season with making 4 out of 4, becoming only club to achieve in this season. During this period, at the opening week it has won an important opponent Fenerbahce.

Basaksehirspor vice-CEO Mustafa Saral has stated to the media that it didnt set its aim as league title this season, quite rightly so at the early stages of the league, but underlined that it would like to and would aim to become something like Turkish version of Leicester City who won league title at the Premiership last season. Basaksehirspor as usual shows top level of football and even through it had trouble to show this performance at the Europa League qualifiers back at the league it provides gream tem play lead by their head coach Abdullah Avci and surely would aim to carry on this success in upcoming weeks and try to win as much as games it can. Besiktas has got deserved win against Akhisar Belediyespor despite of poor game.

Besiktas has won its first game in its history at the away game against Akhisar Belediyespor with 2:0 scoreline and carries on an impressive performance at the Super League without having any losses at the league and has obtained 10 points so far. Meanwhile, Talisca carries on an impressive performance since scoring free-kick goal against Benfica at the Champions League.

In fact as soon the game has begun, Talisca has been providing most active performance at the field with scoring a goal as early as 8th minute. Prior to scoring that goal he had also created 3 chances at the front which showed him that he set an eye to score goal as soon as possible  at the game against Akhisar Belediyespor. Besiktas has played at the Manisa against Akhisar Belediyespor 4 times without winning at the game. It needs to be stated that the goal by the Hugo Rodallega own goal which was reflected from Caner Erkin free-kick , after that goal the game has carried on at the low tempo with both sides looking to accept the scoreline. Saying that as usual most active player at the Akhisar Belediyespor has been Hugo Rodallega who have created 2 chances during the 2nd half. Besiktas didnt provide in fact its best football at this season but it did provide enough to win the game and has won game in deserved manner.

Akhisar Belediyespor carries on providing weaker performance compare to last few years and didnt manage to get control of the game. Besiktas does go to the Istanbul derby against Galatasaray next week with very high motivation and focus after winning today's game and Champions League draw against Benfica.It would be game between two sides with high motivation.

Galatasaray has got very easy win against Rizespor.

Galatasaray carries on its impressive performance at the Super League with comfortable win against
Rizespor, with big help of the Eren Derdiyok who have scored 2 beautiful goals. Derdiyok and Tolga Cigerci are proving to be star players of the team so far during this season.

Rizespor has provided one of its worst performances in the past years yesterday without being able to control the ball and create any chances to the extend that almost whole game which allowed
Galatasaray to set pace of whole game from start until the end. Therefore, Galatasaray had a very easy game prior to derby game against Besiktas on next Saturday. This win which was obtained too easily could also provide issue to the Galatasaray as it sometimes better to have very tough opponent which could identify negative aspects which team has. Galatasaray is in good mood right now but so is Besiktas so its tough one to call for next week.

Galatasaray carries on its season without losing any single game, with carrying on with 3 wins and 1 draw, and it carries on to keep this record at next week for sure.

Fenerbahce must win against Kasimpasa.

The game between Fenerbahce and Kasimpasa will be game against both sides who have started season with only obtaining 1 point from opening 3 weeks and hence are providing performance much below its level of the game.

As been mentioned for few weeks arleady at our blog that despite of season being so early it is clear that Fenerbahce needs to start winning games as it is currently 11 points behind the leaders. Its coming to the weeks when the point difference could be so big that it could be hard for the team to come back. Kasimpasa meanwhile are having same issue and did terminate contract with its head coach Riza Calimbay and appointed in his place Kemal Ozdes on Friday, who is coming at the team with high hopes. Kasimpasa does come out to the game with advantage of new head coach and hence new motivation, but Fenerbahce needs to play its game which we are all used to and expect them because time is running out for its chances to be in league title at the end of the season. Fenerbahce administration does show patience to head coach Dick Advocaat but this patience as it is known will not be too long.

Fenerbahce needs to aim for only a win to pre-start season and once again start aiming high as it is unfortunately does run out of time as early as 4th week of the Super League.

What happened in Turkish football today? 17.09.2016

Eren Derdiyok is one of the best players at the start of this season.

Galatasaray and especially Eren Derdiyok are carrying on its great start to the Super League 2016-17 season with a very comfortable win against Rizespor with a 2:0 scoreline at the game where it had controlled the game from start to the end.

Galatasaray was coming to the game against Rizespor as strong favourite and with an addition that it was 1st game of the season with its fans at its home ground Turk Telekom Arena, it has provided a controlled and impressive game. The impressive goal by Eren Derdiyok at the 6th minute of the game has also affected positevely to the motivation of the Galatasaray and had surely has an negative effect towards Rizespor. Galatasaray player Eren Derdiyok carries on being most performing player at the Galatasaray at this season by scoring 4 goals during of the 4 weeks. It could also have won with 3:0 scoreline with a last minute deserved penalty kick, but captain of the club Selcuk Inan, who has recieved lots of the criticism by the media and administration didnt manage to score a goal, which could been affected psychological and affected his motivation from negative coverage he has recieved from media.

Rizespor couldnt get into the game, especially following by the Eren Derdiyok 1st goal, and has trouble at creating chances even through it had get into number of chances. It does need to improve if it wants to have calm season from relegation zone.

Galatasaray right now would focus into one of the Istanbul derbies which will take next week but one thing is certain it would go to such an important game with high motivation. Despite of draw against Kayserispor last week, Galatasaray is among teams with best form at the start of the league.  

Alanyaspor has shown more superior game compare to Trabzonspor.

Alanyaspor has provided one of the biggest surprises of Super League 4th week games by providing 3:0 win against Trabzonspor and following very unimpressive game against Besiktas on opening week, it carried on not losing in next 3 weeks. Meanwhile, Trabzonspor carries on providing poor game with losing 3 weeks back-to-back.

Trabzonspor carries on providing worrying performance at the Super League which to some extend shows some similiraties from last season. It was expected that the team would improve from last season by transferring lots of new players, appointing Ersun Yanal as head coach and stating that this season would be transition one. Trabzonspor did in their defence started better the game and during 1st half has been seen as much more strong and quality side but it didnt manage to create dangerous attacks and found goal. Instead, of improving during 2nd half it started to play much worser which led Alanyaspor to show much better football and found 3 goals within 2nd 45+5' minutes and end 4th week with 7 points and at the 5th spot at least for today.

Alanyaspor has shown big improvement from 1st week and has made everyone take 2nd look at them after it was seen that their are main outsiders from the league. Alanyaspor main aim has been set by administrators and technical staff to stay at the Super League for next season but it can achieve better position at table if it carries on this performance.

Trabzonspor needs to come to themselves because their would be outside of title chances in few weeks as the difference between them and leaders is getting bigger and bigger and performance wise it doesnt provide much hope.

Besiktas would go to Akhisar Belediyespor with good motivation.

Besiktas following an impressive draw from Benfica at the Champions League, is getting back to the Super League against one of the tough sides in the league, Akhisar Belediyespor. Despite of poor start of the season Akhisar has always been known to provide high performance against big clubs.

With Besiktas games being played at the short notice, it is expected for Besiktas head coach Senol Gunes to provide lots of changes to the starting 11 but still start the game with an important players against Akhisar Belediyespor. It is been observed, including Benfica game, that Besiktas is improving by each game and would surely look to obtain motivation boost prior to first derby game at this season against Galatasaray. Coming to the Akhisar Belediyespor this game would also provide an opportunity for newly-signed players, who are not at their best performance yet, to become more used to their new team and aim for great game and improve in performance wise.

Besiktas is starting to provide top football by each week and would aim to carry on this performance at the game tomorrow. It has all chances to provide that but it wont be an easy game against tough opponent.

Fenerbahce needs to start providing  top football as soon as possible.

Fenerbahce has started its Europa League route of this season with a draw against easiest team at the group, Ukrainian Zorya with a help of last minute goal by the Simon Kjaer. In what is otherwise very tough group this could become a loss of two points to Fenerbahce at the final standings as group also contains Manchester United and Feyenoord.

Even through Fenerbahce had controlled ball for the most of the time at the game it still had provided problematic game and has shown that it needs to have much more creative play especially when it comes to go to the attacking. It was also observed as it was at the previous games that Fenerbahce has issues with defensive play. With Europa League has started and arleady 3 weeks has been passed at the Super League it is now time for Fenerbahce to start performing top football which is rightly everyone is awaiting from them. Fenerbahce head coach Dick Advocaat has stated that he is aware of the strength of the team and now feels ready for the top performance by the team. This is true as it been stated games are going by without very good performance given by the team so far.

Fenerbahce will play against Kasimpasa this weekend and as it is known the team didnt start very good also with having also 1 point after 3 weeks. This is good chance for Fenerbahce to show top football and restart its season.

Osmanlispor carries on impressive performance against Steaua Bucharest at the Europa League.

Osmanlispor carries on providing incredible performance at the Europa League and statistically is being best perfomed team at the Turkey so far at the European stage. This time it has managed to win Romanian side Steaua Bucharest during 1st week game.

It is only team in the Turkey which won opening game at the Europa League proper among Turkish teams and this is taking account that it has started campaign at the 2nd qualifying round, earliest stage which any Turkish team has started in this season. It has provided great game against Steaua Bucharest even before the goals has come but surely red card by Romanian side and penalty goal has changed the game from start to end as Ankara side started controlling the game from beggining to the end as the game progressed. It needs to be stated that it has won among the team which would fight for the top 2 spot and did get an important advantage for knock-out spot but of course its too early to discuss about that.

Osmanlispor head coach Mustafa Resit Akcay has once again underlined that team mainy focusses into Super League but this performance doesnt show that club gives importance to Europe and it seems like team wants to go as far as it can.

Konyaspor needs to provide more attacks if it wants to get good results at Europa League.

Konyaspor is only team among three which has lost its opening week game against Shakhtar Donetsk, but it does need to be remembered that it has also played against strongest team among three. Shakhtar has been headache team for most of the Turkish teams in the past years.

Konyaspor realising its chances of getting win against Shakhtar Donetsk are pretty low, did mainly focus into defensive game and hence has tried to stop an attacks by Ukrainian side. In fact, it did succeed that to some extend with only making one mistake during whole game which has led for a loss at the end of the game from the goal which has been crossed by winger. Konyaspor head coach Aykut Kocaman stated after game that focus at defence was given to the centre of the field, which has led mistake at the winger parts. Still Konyaspor did provide great performance against very tough opponent and has shown that it has good chances to perform good at Europa League this season. It just needs to play more brave football as it would be hard for them to get good results with focussing too much at getting draws, but again this should be seen as only tactic done to Shakhtar Donetsk.

Konyaspor despite of the loss, did show great game at its debut at the Europa League and even through not much does show some hope for performance for upcoming games at the group.

What happened in Turkish football today? 15.09.2016

Fenerbahce still performs at the level below its strength.

Fenerbahce has started its campaign of the Europa League with a draw against Ukrainian side Zorya which seemed to be an easiest team at the group and did provide number of issues to the Istanbul side during the game.

However, it needs to be stated that most of the problems were created by Fenerbahce themselves as it did start game very slow and did have problems at creating dangerous moments and even have control of the game. In fact, Zorya has shown much better football at 1st half with controlling the ball and being more at the dangerous moments during the game. Fenerbahce did start 2nd half in much better way and as it improved its game and has created two dangerous attacks, it has conceded goal by Zorya which needs to be stated was scored in a great manner. It does need to be stated that as game developed it did have problem at going forward as the game carried on and having last touches at the front. However, the great goal from Simon Kjaer which has been scored by ball which have returned from Zorya defender during freekick has brought an important point for them.

Meanwhile, Zorya did show some good resistance against Fenerbahce as it did control the ball and has provided some brave football as the game has developed and did show that it wont be an easy team to beat at the group.

Fenerbahce did get an important point but it is still a loss as it has Manchester United and Feyenoord at the group and even more importantly as a team it still below its level and needs to improve urgently if it wants to succeed at this season.

Osmanlispor carries on impressing at the Europa League

Osmanlispor carries on providing very impressive performance at the Europa League as it has also started with a win against Romanian side Steaua Bucharest with 2:0 scoreline and has shown very impressive football.

The game did start at the equal level and Steaua Bucharest did in fact start game well but the red card and also penalty kick at the 64th minute has provided great opportunity for Osmanlispor which it has used very smartly and has found an important goal from which it manages to carry on and get an important win. Osmanlispor as been mentioned before provides much better performance than was expected from them in this tournament. It arleady became more or less team of surprise even through we still at the early days. It showed great character against strong Romanian side and has strong message to its other opponents at the group.

Steaua Bucharest did start game well and has controlled before its mistake with red card and with penalty kick it has lost total control but still showed that it is a team which is capable for great results and performance and still tough team at the group.

Osmanlispor carries on being memorable team at the tournament and does seem to be really motivated by this tournament regardless how much it states that it takes league as a priority. With this performance it will not be huge surprise for them to be to get knock-out stages.

Konyaspor provided defensive play against Shakhtar Donetsk.

Konyaspor did start Europa League with a loss to the Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk, the team which seems to be big issue to Turkish team for last of the couple of years.

It does need to be stated that Konyaspor did play game by showing respect to their opponents by focussing into defence knowing that it would have tough teams. Even through this could be seen as not playing an inefective football to some extend it was being aware of its capacity. However, with small mistake at the wingers Shakhtar Donetsk did achieve to get good cross which has ended with a goal by them. Still it does need to be stated that Konyaspor did show good resistance against strong Ukrainian side and didnt give up very easily to them.

Shakhtar Donetsk as always has shown top football and has got an important win against Konyaspor and has manipulated game as was expected as it expects to do with rest of the group.

Konyaspor would play with an easier opponents as group develops and would likely to provide better performance and still aim for 2nd place at the group
