Trabzonspor loses 2 points to Konyaspor while winning with 2:0.

Turkish Super League game between Trabzonspor and Konyaspor has ended with 2:2 scoreline which been pretty physical game between both sides as Trabzonspor didnt manage to keep its 2:0 leadership from penalties.

Trabzonspor needs to be mentioned did start game in high tempo and did look for opportunities from start of the game but couldnt overpass opponent goalkeeper Sehic who has shown strong and confident performance for whole game. In fact, all of the 2 goals did come from penalty decision which did come from close physical game which led for handball and foul towards opponent, to which both Bakasetas and Trezeguet has shown good penalty shots. It needs to be mentioned that with opponent still being focussed into game and showing good reaction, and some issues with defending from Trabzonspor has led for great comeback. In defence of Trabzonspor, it needs to be admitted that it did come from difficult game against Ferencvaros in midweek and also having physical decline from being relegated from Europa League to Conference League. Still, it is not acceptable for Trabzonspor to draw game which it led with 2:0 scoreline especially if it taking account that opponent played with 1 less men.

Stating that, it needs to be mentioned that Konyaspor did provide good performance and even it got behind with 2:0 scoreline it has stayed focus on its own task and continued providing positive game which led them to find 2 goals with Mame Diouf. This result would provide motivation and confidence for upcoming games.

Trabzonspor did lose an important 2 points in race for leadership and needs to get lessons from this result without doubt as it was winning with 2:0 scoreline.

 Galatasaray has got confident win against Besiktas.

Galatasaray has got an important win against Besiktas during derby game and has kept themselves at the race for the leadership with showing much more better performance compare to their opponents.

Without doubt, player of the game has been Mauro Icardi who has scored 2 great goals and showed strong willingness to provide performance which he is known on previous clubs. Stating that he only had three shots during whole game with two of them being goals and one being posts which does show into factor of star players showing their quality even when not showing best performance. Galatasaray has among Mauro Icardi has created many chances which could be converted with team getting very confident win. This win without doubt would provide an important motivation prior to Basaksehirspor game, last one before World Cup break and with also good result from there will let them enter to break with good mood.

Galatasaray hence did show one of the best performances during this season and has shown some good signs for upcoming weeks. 

Besiktas still unable to show top game for 90 minutes.

Besiktas on other hand did provide pretty poor performance especially during 2nd half and did struggle to get even balanced control of the game in duration of 90 minutes.

As remembered after confident win last week against Umraniyespor, its been noted that real test for Senol Gunes would be this derby game and it could be noted that this has been case. It does look like issues which were present beforehand are still issues, as Besiktas did show some balanced game during 1st half and did lose confidence and strong performance during 2nd half with letting Galatasaray to get full contol of the game. Cenk Tosun with finding goals and also some other opportunities did once again take key role in the team but it is questionable if he would be able to single-handedly push side into race for leadership alone in this season. It does look like Senol Gunes would have lots of to do during upcoming World Cup break.

Besiktas is being so far pretty unsuccessfully with ts performace for 90 minutes and it became clear during game against Galatasaray.

Galatasaray has wanted to win this derby game more and hence got deserved win

Galatasaray has got an important win at home ground in the derby game against Besiktas as it got well-deserved win as it has shown much more attacking game with Mauro Icardi playing most important role with this 2:1 win.

It could be argued that Galatasaray didnt necessarily provided its best performance during this season but compare to Besiktas, it looked to be side which have focussed into an attacking game and did look much more organised in all the field. Without doubt best player both at Galatasaray and whole game has been Mauro Icardi which has scored 2 goals, with 1st one has been into great goals and could even scored 3rd goal as he got into post. Without doubt this has been best performance of Icardi since he has joined. Meanwhile, Galatasaray without doubt did looked highly focussed and organised performance which did play an important role with getting much better chances. It is clear hence that Galatasaray did been prepared for this derby game and used an opportunity with Besiktas losing tempo in the 2nd part of the 2nd half.

Even through Valerien Ismael has left Besiktas on previous week, it has been visible that even through there are some positive signs with Senol Gunes it does look to be having similar issues such as having decline during 2nd half to which Senol Gunes has issues to solve or there is issues of side stamina. Stating that it needs to be mentioned that Besiktas players did look to be pretty willing with creating chances but still did have issues with transition performance for most amount of the time which did lead to lack of chances. In similar manner as in previous week, Cenk Tosun did look to be most willing as he had some good chances and has found an only goal for his side, even through he did overdo it in start of the game as he did provide much more simpler shot, Besiktas might been getting ahead and get control of the side. With Besiktas playing Antalyaspor next week where it would be aiming for 3 weeks, it does look main focus would be for side to raise its performance during World Cup break.

Galatasaray did look much effective in this derby game and has got crucial win against Besiktas and did raise confidence and motivation in upcoming weeks while Besiktas continues to be having same issues which it had with Ismael.

Trabzonspor need to give extra effort against Konyaspor

Trabzonspor are going back to the Super League following relegation from Europa League to very important game against Konyaspor as it would be aiming to get win against opponent which is being above them at the table.

Even through Trabzonspor generally does get result which it seeking for in the league, its performance is being pretty unstable during this season and it could be seeing this game as an opportunity to get motivation prior to World Cup break. Konyaspor tends to struggle against big clubs which to some extend being main reason for getting out from title race, but it still shows some resistance. Therefore, Trabzonspor despite being below in table would be coming as favourites but there would need to provide some extra effort to get that result as Konyaspor would be expected to be tough opponent. Most important for them it would need to show strong and confident game for 90 minutes and be careful at defence and creative in attack.

Trabzonspor are being favourites but it wont be an easy win for sure for them and it would need to give an extra effort for win. 

Napoli are interested to sign Arda Guler

Napoli are reported to be having strong interest with Fenerbahce player Arda Guler who is being one of the main stars of the game and has played key role against Dynamo Kyiv and hence being main reason also for top spot at Europa League group stage.

Meanwhile, Napoli tends to be showing interest for some time at Fenerbahce players with signing Eljif Elmas and Kim Min Jae on previous season, and this time showing some strong interest to new wunderkid of Turkish football Arda Guler. Without doubt, Napoli will not be first and last big club which would be showing interest towards player but it does look like it would be first one to act on it as it wouldnt like to miss such great player. Fenerbahce has high aims at Europa League despite Jesus stating otherwise.

Fenerbahce has got into last 16 of the Europa League following win against Dynamo Kyiv with 2:0 scoreline and also with help of the AEK Larnaca which draw against Rennes as Jorge Jesus continues to dominate tournament.

Jorge Jesus did start Europa League competition stating that tournament is not they priority and that Dynamo Kyiv, which did provide suprisingly poor performance which been affected by war without doubt and also Rennes but managed to compete group stage without losing game and at the top of the group with record number for club. Right now, Jesus states that winning title is not being their priority. His statement without doubt is being realistic as among couple of strong teams in competition itself, there is also coming of sides from Champions League which by themselves are in level to get to that competition final. Therefore he is being realistic, but it should be known that this is being statement not to raise expectation as he would do everything to win this competition as he never accepts loss.

Fenerbahce has shown great performance at the competition and likely to do so after New Year for sure.

Trabzonspor performance were unsatisfactorily but it is still in Europe after New Year.

We are being without doubt all proud, Turkish and Turkish football followers that all 4 teams would be seeing European competitions after new year, but we need to be honest that Trabzonspor has been most dissapointing.

Trabzonspor performance at Europa League has been unstable but mainly it did provide poor performance as it also did in the league compare to previous season. Even through it did look into good chances including against Ferencvaros on last week game, it mainly did look to be passive which led them to lose an important points. It is important for Trabzonspor to identify issues especially loss of tempo which been seen in the previous season if it wants to have successful Conference League, as it does mainly mediocre opponents but it would need to aware that all this sides would fight for wins and would provide issues to Trabzonspor if it wont show good game.

Therefore, Trabzonspor would need to go through revision and identify mistakes which they did during this Europa League campaign for sure.

Sivasspor showed great achivement with getting to last 16

Sivasspor which has been least followed by Turkish media, including by our accounts, actually needs to be most praised as it is being side which much lesser budget and strengh quality compare to Fenerbahce and Basaksehirspor.

Sivasspor also didnt have great start of the competition, but it has risen its level of performance when it matters and got an important points in 2nd half of the competition. Also, group to be highly competitive has led them to get 1st spot with few but crucial wins. It does need to be mentioned that also experience of competing in Europe for past 4 seasons also played an important role with this great achievement and good news for them is that they would start in last 16 which will give them enough time to get some good transfers in mid-season and work on improvement as team.

Sivasspor did provide great achievement without doubt regardless how much sports media including us tends to degraded.

Fenerbahce ends its group at the top in well-deserved manner.

Fenerbahce has marked history as it managed to end group stage at the top spot during Europa League as it has managed to beat Dynamo Kyiv with 2:0 scoreline as Rennes drew against AEK Larnaca.

Prior to game, there were expectations that Fenerbahce would need to get confident win against Dynamo Kyiv as Rennes has high possibility to get confident win against Cypriot side, but thankfully to Fenerbahce it does look like AEK did provide some good resistance. Coming to Fenerbahce game, it needs to be mentioned that Fenerbahce did provide tactical game without raising tempo of the game too high and finding goals when needed as it did find great goal with Arda Guler who has scored his 1st European goal in his career by being most importantly at right moment at the right time for sure. Fenerbahce after 2:0 has reduced tempo after 2nd goal which been scored by Arao as Rennes likely also lost concentration and belief that it could find more goals than Fenerbahce.

Dynamo Kyiv did aim to provide some good ending at the group stage, and it did to do that but with lack of motivation and also issues outside of football didnt let them to provide strong resistance. Meanwhile, despite of poor performance Dynamo Kyiv and other Ukrainian clubs needs to be praised as they did compete while they country is going through very difficult times.

Fenerbahce did have good competition so far without losing one game and ends at top in deserved manner for sure.

Win against Ferencvaros wasnt enough for knockout stage for Trabzonspor.

Trabzonspor has got win against Ferencvaros in the last week of the Europa League group stage thanks to great goal from Bakasetas but this win hasnt been enough for knockout stages as Monaco has won in parallel game against Crvena Zvezda.

With Ferencvaros arleady securing its top position in the group and hence was expected to come out to the game with rotation, Trabzonspor were expecting to come as favourite as it needed urgently a win and it has got an early goal at 1st minute. However, with goal news coming from Monaco it has reduced tempo of the game for Trabzonspor as Monaco carried on scoring to secure its 2nd spot. With Ferencvaros as been noted coming out to game with being secure of top spot, game has been played in mediocre side with Trabzonspor more or less securing top place. Still, Trabzonspor did show good game and right attitude but due of points which been reduced on previous week, it didnt get results which it seeked for.

Ferencvaros as been noted did come out to the game with securing 1st spot it didnt show level of performance which it has shown during this group stage but still showed some good organised game with rotated squad.

Trabzonspor did they best to get top spot in the group but with loss of points on previous weeks has led them to lose an opportunity to get to the knockout stage and would now compete at Conference League.

Sivasspor gets result which it seeked for top spot in the group.

Sivasspor has ended group stage at Conference League Group H at top spot as it did get minumum scoreline which it needed even through it did have pretty nervous last 20 minutes due of own goal from Goutas.

Sivasspor it needs to be mentioned didnt have very good start of the group stage but did raise its performance during 2nd part of the group stage and for sure did well deserved top spot. Coming out to this game, Sivasspor did start game in strong and confident manner with showing that it wanted to get at top spot and hence not wanting to play to 2nd round of the game. Sivasspor in fact did find an early goal thanks to the Max Gradel. It needs to be mentioned that after that it did look confident and did look for 2nd goal but couldnt find one as Slavia Prague did show also organised game as own goal did come from pressure which led for Goutas to make mistake. Still, Sivasspor did show good game with high concentration and got result which it seeked for. 

Slavia Prague did come to much pressure game as it did need to win and hence provided in such manner but did have time to find needed goals against Sivasspor as it shown strong confident game. With this outcome Sivasspor has been relegated from Conference League with this result as it been mixture of competition for them.

Sivasspor did show impressive performance in this tournament and would be happy not to play next round and until March could focus to league game which didnt go as well as Conference League until now.

Europa League knockout stage is not in control of Trabzonspor.

Trabzonspor would be coming to last game against arleady promoted at top spot Ferencvaros with hope to get win against Hungarian side and also waiting for positive result from Monaco and Crvena Zvezda.

Trabzonspor which are currently located at 3rd spot did have mixture of performance at this group stage as it shown very dissapointing performance and also there been games where it has top performance like against Monaco. This time it would be coming to game which it needs to be focussed to get win and its advantage is that Ferencvaros would be playing game entirely for formality as it has secure 1st spot but still it cant afford to take opponent lightly as Ferencvaros would be aiming to end its group stage at high note and show that it didnt end at top spot by accident. In addition, in case of winning it would need to be waiting for Crvena Zvezda to get win against Monaco even through this result would not be helpful if it loses as it would not even get to Conference League.

Trabzonspor hence would be coming to game where situation at the group is not being at their hand but most important thing here is to focus into own game as it would have risk to be relegated entirely.

Fenerbahce will aim to get confident win against relegated Dynamo Kyiv.

As Fenerbahce and Rennes has drawn against each other on previous week has led for league leaders deciders into last week of the competition as Fenerbahce does have extra goal advantage as it would be meeting with Dynamo Kyiv.

In the sense of competition where all sides would be competing after new year is being clear, both Fenerbahce and Rennes would be focussing to get goal-scoring results against Dynamo Kyiv which been relegated from competition and AEK Larnaca will be competing at Conference League. Sivasspor which like Fenerbahce and Basaksehirspor would be coming out to its last game with knowing that it got into next stage, would be aiming to  get at least draw against Slavia Prague as loss would mean it would lose its top position.

As it is known, Sivasspor did lose to Sparta Prague which means that despite of Sivasspor having 3 point advantage, in head of head Slavia Prague is right now being upper hand and hence it would be smart decision by club to focus into strong defensive game and even more ideally to find an early goal.  Fenerbahce fans changed 4th referee of Dynamo Kyiv.

UEFA has 1st appointed Ivan Bebek as 4th referee of Europa League 6th week game between Dynamo Kyiv and Fenerbahce, but has later changed it to Marin Vidulin due of strong pressure from supporters.

As some long term followers of Turkish football might remember, the game between Europa League between Fenerbahce and Braga in 2016 has been pretty scandalous game with questionable decisions of Ivan Bebek which led for 4 red cards at Fenerbahce. In overall, Bebek during that game has shown very poor performance with all decisions going against Fenerbahce as our blog back on the day has provided lots of criticism towards him. Seeing his name as 4th coach for sure let for disbelief from Fenerbahce supporters which led for high number of criticism to this decision. It is very likely taking account timing that UEFA has listened to supporters due of such strong pressure. 

As would been remembered, Ivan Bebek has been showing very poor performance as referee in that game and this decision would reduce tension between him and club for sure.

Arbitration Committee has reduced Abdulkerim Bardakci ban from 2 to 1 game.

TFF arbitration committee has changed decision of PFDK regarding of 2-game ban to 1 Galatasaray player Abdulkerim Bardakci which means he would be playing against Besiktas as he did go through ban in previous week.

Without doubt, this decision would make Galatasaray to be satisfied as it got justice from their eye for wrong decision during Alanyaspor game and also would be coming with extra player to Besiktas derby game as player could be playing a crucial role in midfielder if he would be taking his time. Senol Gunes will use derby game to prove his worth at club

Fenerbahce once again showed that its being best side so far.

Fenerbahce continues showing an impressive performance and breaking records with Jorge Jesus as it has managed to win Istanbulspor with 5:2 scoreline and has scored so far 34 goals, making it equal amount of scored in 1959-60 season in same time period.

Fenerbahce didnt provide its highest tempo performance which been observed during this season but this has been expected after difficult and well-fought game against Rennes at Europa League but it still has found 5 goals which shows how much an attacking focussed side it. Only issue which been observed in this game and previous ones is being number of conceded goals which does come from an attacking being at front due of its tactics and Altay Bayindir going forward too much. Still, Fenerbahce has managed to at least score with same amount of opponent and hence not to lose game. It needs to be mentioned that so far Fenerbahce are showing best performance at Super League and does show sign of improvement in upcoming weeks.

Return of Senol Gunes to Besiktas has been more than impressive as it has found goal against Umraniyespor with 5:2 scoreline but this result should not be treated as that things would go perfect for them.

In all respect with Umraniyespor and also identifying its aims to show positive game which it sometimes achieves to do so, Besiktas winning against them in such confident manner should not be seen as great achievement and with highly criticised Valerin Ismael it would also won this game. It is reported that Trabzonspor has send complaint and change of decision to UEFA arbitration committee and there is possibility it could be changed but still it is being unclear. Sadly, and even through Ferencvaros will come to formality game this game is being very important for side to get to knockout stages and Maxi Gomez likely would be affected to team performance.
