Besiktas considers to appoint Guti as head coach until end of the season

With Besiktas head coach Senol Gunes being confirmed to be at the position of the Turkish National Team during Euro2020 qualifiers against Andorra and Moldova, future of his at his club is staying with question mark.

Besiktas administrators seems to be coming to an agreement that Senol Gunes doing his two jobs at same time would lead to lose concentration towards his club and hence their are talks taking place that assistant coach Guti Hernandez might be taking role as main coach until end of the season, if it decided to end contract in upcoming games. In fact, the chances of unwanted result during Super League 25th week game against Konyaspor could lead for such a decision, with also possibility that Senol Gunes might call for resignation himself following game. To be ready for such actions, it is reported that Besiktas administrators has told Guti Hernandez to be ready for such decision. It needs to be remembered however that even through Guti, compare to Senol Gunes, would be only able to concentrate towards team he doesnt have much experience at the main role and this could have even worser consequences, therefore Besiktas does have difficult decision to made until end of the season.

As been stated on previous blogs, for Senol Gunes staying at both Turkish National Team and Besiktas position could lead some issues to at least one of the sides, and since he cant leave Turkish National Team he might be needed to sacrifice Besiktas position.

Trabzonspor does have some barriers to have great season.

Trabzonspor head coach Unal Karaman, has been observed to have pretty heated press conference today showing his unhappiness and protest for recieivng high amount of criticism towards him after Kasimpasa game.

It needs to be reminded that due o financial issues at the team, which also naturally affected to the squad in sense of squad, Trabzonspor does have limited options to do changes and that is main reason why he uses high amount of academy players, even through this development has opportunity to do good for future of Turkish football. Due of recieving high amount of criticism of providing right changes and actions during Kasimpasa, he stated that media doesnt recognise into difficulties which club is at. Even through this blog did state criticisms in sense of performance, it needs to be admitted that team is doing great jobs with economical problems, which clubs previous administrations has created and has been building up. In fact, ending season at Europa League position, which is still possibility, would be seen as good performance for a team at the end of the season and should not be undermined if it ends at 4th position.

Trabzonspor is going through difficult but its important for players not get distracted of events which team go through in administrative part.

Bottom teams are doing their best to stay at the league. 

Even through at the top of the table, the picture of how rest of the season would develop does become more or less clear, especially with results coming from 2nd half, it needs to be stated that relegation zone continues to have an exciting race.

With almost half of the teams are still having realistic chances of being relegated, including Fenerbahce, every point seems to be very important for them. Even bottom 2 halves, which at table seem to be most disadvantage, Erzurumspor and Akhisarspor did manage not to lose last week and also gaining points with some good football could mean that their in 2-3 weeks can find themselves at safe zone. In all circumstances, bottom teams need to get points to stay at league at the end of the season,with this season all of them getting points frequently could lead that unwanted results for 2-3 weeks could put them from half of the table to relegation zone. Last 2 games of Galatasaray against bottom 2 teams, last minute goal against Akhisarspor and draw against Erzurumspor does show that those two teams might have issues as side but their are not giving up for staying at the league.

This league does turn around where none of the team cant lose any teams, only possibly
Basaksehirspor who does have 2 game in hand not counting Galatasaray game, cant lose any games as their might be away from their key points. Even through main spot seems to become clear, we are having league where 17 teams have games to win for last 10 games.

Trabzonspor performance carries on dropping at quality.

Trabzonspor wasnt able to prevent comeback from Kasimpasa as it has turned Super League 24th week game from 2:0 to 2:2 with showing much more an attacking game from Istanbul side while Trabzonspor drop of performance carries on taking place. Trabzonspor does show unstable condition once again.

As been mentioned at blog yesterday, it was expected that Trabzonspor would win this game without much issue as Kasimpasa lost all of the games during 2nd half of the season with also poor performance taking place. With Kasimpasa also showing not good start to the game, Trabzonspor did found two goals during 1st half with Nwakaeme but even during that period it didnt show very good performance. With Kasimpasa coming out with different motivation and focus for 2nd half it has managed to get an important goals to get draw and make its head coach Mustafa Denizli happy for sure as he was taking to hospital to check his tension which been raised during game. This game did show that performance wise Trabzonspor does have drop and this could provide an opportunity for chance to improve game for rest of the season. 

Trabzonspor now does have risk of losing its spot for top 4 position at the table which is to get to the Europa League so it should start getting points for not having another dissapointing end of the season.

Senol Gunes would be coaching Turkish National Team during March games of Euro2020 qualifiers

It became clear that Besiktas head coach Senol Gunes, which has been announced as Turkish National Team head coach since 1st June, would also be taking place at same position during Turkish National Team qualifiers against Albania and Moldova.

It became clear that TFF has send an letter to Besiktas stating that factor and has informed team that he would be joining into training team without an approve and if Besiktas would be refusing to send him, club would recieve very high fine. Taking account that Senol Gunes has been mainly focussed with his team and doesnt have much information likely about opponents it would be very interesting to see how Gunes would call players to the game and also what kind of tactics he would be using. Right now Senol Gunes needs to divide himself for two positions for next 2 games, and this could have some negative aspects either or both to Turkish National Team and Besiktas with both sides hoping that least amount of damages would be done. Actions of Besiktas would also be an interesting aspect to be seen and time would show what would happen.

This are certainly interesting times, and actions given by Besiktas would be interesting as their is possibility that it might even end contract with Senol Gunes before end of the season even.

Erzurumspor has appointed Hamza Hamzaoglu as club's head coach. 

Erzurumspor has appointed coach Hamza Hamzaoglu with replacing Mehmet Ozdilek despite of the fact that Ozdilek did improve performance of the team compare to 1st half and has shown good performance against Galatasaray last week even if it is located at relegation zone with 5 points behind safety zone.

Erzurumspor ex- coach Mehmet Ozdilek has stated that reason why contract has been terminated was that administration didnt believe too much of his success. Taking account that prior to him, Erzurumspor has shown much worser performance and shown good results with him, Erzurumspor administration looking at standings has made decision regarding to overall results and ignoring factor of effect which Mehmet Ozdilek has given him and this decision could even lead to be relegated. Stating that, Hamza Hamzaoglu who has been appointed today as coach does have capability to keep side at the league as he also has good performance as coach with also being at sides which are being at similar conditions as Erzurumspor before hand and knows how to treat in this condition at the team. Stating that Erzurumspor task is being difficult and it need to show good performance during last 10 weeks.

Appointment of Hamza Hamzaoglu is good one for Erzurumspor to make it best to stay at the league, but Mehmet Ozdilek should be given chance as team was going into right direction performance wise.

What happened in Turkish football today? 04/03/2019

Trabzonspor has lost an opportunity to get a win against Kasimpasa. 

Trabzonspor didnt manage to keep its 2:0 advantage against Kasimpasa during Super League 24th week game and has drawn game with 2:2 scoreline even through it was expected that Trabzonspor would be getting an easy win.

Despite of being in decline with performance from Trabzonspor during recent weeks and also finding itself far from title race, it was still expected that Trabzonspor wouldnt have much issue against struggling Kasimpasa. In fact, it has provided this kind of performances during 1st half of the game as it has got 2 goals thanks to the Nwakaeme goals. However, with possibly motivational boost which opponent got from their head coach Mustafa Denizli getting to the hospital, and also losing some concentration for Trabzonspor it has conceded 2 goals. To some extend, this performance also describes performance of whole season of Trabzonspor as it shows to some unstable performance in this season and also in previous seasons. With this result Trabzonspor now also finds itself in danger of not getting Europa League spot at the league and needs to start getting results in upcoming weeks.
In other hand, Kasimpasa has got its first points for 2nd half of the season even through it did show very poor start to the game and has provided image that it would be losing points again. Galatasaray didnt show top game against Erzurumspor

Galatasaray has lost crucial 2 points during Super League 24th week game against Erzurumspor which has ended with 1:1 scoreline and didnt provide a good performance during -5 degrees, but it didnt get those points due of weather conditions.

As Basaksehirspor has managed to win Yeni Malatyaspor on same day and hence has raised point difference to 9 points, Galatasaray needed to win game to keep itself at the title race but it has only managed to reduce that point difference to 8 points. Galatasaray didnt show great start of the game with providing slow and uneffective game which has been went into hand of Erzurumspor and helped them to end 1st half with 1:0 scoreline. Galatasaray as a whole didnt provide great performance and wasnt very effective and didnt respond to the game as a team which needed to get a win and it could be stated that Erzurumspor has wanted to get this 3 points more. Even Galatasaray head coach Fatih Terim following game has stated that his team didnt provide enough performance to get 3 points and needs to improve a lot. To some extend team has also continued its away game phobia as this has been another game which team has lost away.

With 10 weeks left until end of the season, and also with taking account that it would meet with Basaksehirspor at home during penultimate week, it would need to hope that it would reduce point difference of 8 points.

Basaksehirspor needs to stay focus for last 10 games. 

As Basaksehirspor has won against Yeni Malatyaspor with 2:0 scoreline and also Galatasaray drawing against Erzurumspor has made the club much more closer for achieving getting title this season but crucial games are starting right now for them.

One of the most crucial games which would be able to test about capability of Basaksehirspor to show top level performance at the road for a title, without doubt would be game against Fenerbahce as this game would affect both sides and also Galatasaray chances to keep their chances for title even higher. It needs to be stated that Basaksehirspor are playing main organised and patient football and even through it doesnt provide good watching experience, does provide targeted points which it aims for. Galatasaray didnt provide enough performance to get win against Erzurumspor. 

Galatasaray has lost an important 2 points for its title race as it has drawn against Erzurumspor who is currently is located at 17th place and also urgently needed 3 points as sides met during Super League 24th week.

It needs to be noted that Galatasaray didnt manage to provide good entrance to the game without showing too much organised game and hence has allowed Erzurumspor to provide much more effective and also found an early goal after 18th minute. Following that goal, Galatasaray also has failed to provide right reaction and has continued to provide good performance which more importantly didnt have much to do with cold weather but more like due of lack of concentration. It needs to be admitted however that Galatasaray did show some improvement and has provided better performance and in fact did find a goal from Younes Belhanda, but it has failed to provide strong performance and didnt create many chances. It needs to be stated that Galatasaray did come out to the game to win it and their was good-will performance from players, but it wasnt enough to get one of toughest away game regardless of fact that Erzurumspor is located at 17th place with 22 points. Galatasaray from now on needs to win games for last 10 weeks and expect for Basaksehirspor to lose 5 points + win Basaksehirspor at home ground on 33rd week.

Erzurumspor meanwhile carries on providing good performance at home ground but due of lack of strong players who can bring scores doesnt manage to get a win, but players willingness and whole atmosphere at away games does provide good game which at least pleasant to look. Erzurumspor could get a win today if it was been little bit more lucky during game.

Galatasaray is entering to difficult last 10 weeks as it aims to stay at title race until end and would now aim to win all games to turn around this difficult condition at the race.

Besiktas has shown pretty poor performance as Senol Gunes looks to be distracted.

Besiktas has got 2nd draw back-to-back during crucial section of the season as it has drawn during Super League 24th week game against in-form Kayserispor as it has gained 1 point from Caner Erkin but has found itself pretty far away from title race with losing those 2 points.

With an announcemenet from TFF that Besiktas head coach Senol Gunes would be appointed as Turkish National Team head coach and adding to that of rumours that he would be joining, has provided lots of focus and pressure to himself and whole team. Without doubt it would be difficult task for Senol Gunes to focus into two this jobs as mentally he has started his position. Coming to the game, Besiktas despite of scoring 2 goals did have trouble at getting at the game and didnt provide very organised game while Kayserispor especially during 2nd half has been controlling ball. Besiktas has lost all of its strongest strengths at yesterday game, and even through some people might connect that to derby game against Fenerbahce, it did have 6 days for preparation. Besiktas chances for league title and also for 2nd spot is getting much more difficult and this would have negative impact to side motivation and focus for sure.

Besiktas would be entering to difficult period for last 10 weeks of the game and with Senol Gunes also mind being also focussed to national team team needs to figure out way to end season with least amount of damages.

Fenerbahce didnt provide much promising performance despite of win. 

Fenerbahce did get an important win against Rizespor during Super League 24th week game taking account its situation at the league right now and this win could be even enough for them to stay at the league in the end of the season, but gamewise it still at the level which would be expected from them.

Even through Fenerbahce did show some signs of more attacking game with controlling tempo, its still has made game difficult especially taking account that it had an extra man at the field and has even conceded during that moment. It still has managed to find goal from highly talked penalty decision with Victor Moses converting it towards end. In addition, it did have trouble to get some control of the game as the game has been progressed while Rizespor has got control of the game. Attitude to the game once again has been positive from Fenerbahce as it aimed to go forward in organised and fast-paced but tactically its still has some issues and hence it could have difficult game next week against league leaders Basaksehirspor which provides focussed and organised game whole season and this could provide some issues to the side but again Fenerbahce does provide more better performance against strong opponents and Basaksehirspor are among them.

Fenerbahce still is away from game performance which fans and history of the club would be expected from but once again its main task for now is to get points as much as it can rather than show good game.

Besiktas has got 1 point against Kayserispor thanks to the goal by Caner Erkin.

Besiktas player Caner Erkin goal from distance has helped Besiktas to get 1 point against very in-form Kayserispor at away game during Super League 23rd week game despite of very poor performance during 2nd half as it ended game with 2:2 scoreline.

It does need to be stated that even through Besiktas didnt still had great start against Kayserispor it has been side which has controlled game and has found an important goal from Atiba Hutchinson during 37th minute. However, in similar manner as last week game against Fenerbahce, Besiktas has lost its control of the game and has allowed Kayserispor at 1st to balance game and afterwards starts controlling game even through it does need to be noted that Kayserispor didnt lose yet game during 2019 which also has provided an additional confidence and motivation towards game. Despite of Caner Erkin goal during 90+1 goal, it needs to be stated that Besiktas didnt provide great game and Besiktas head coach Senol Gunes does lose control of the game possibly with an appointment to Turkish National Team head coach position does provide possibly some distraction to provide right decisions as game progresses. Besiktas right now finds itself 10 points behind Basaksehirspor and thats taking account that their didnt play their game yet, so chances for league title are getting further away.

Kayserispor meanwhile even through didnt show great start towards game, it has managed to keep its deficit at half-time with minumum scoreline and with providing much more organised performance especially at attack it has found 2 goals and got control under the game. It needs to be stated that Kayserispor would find this as loss of 2 points even through it was against big club.

Besiktas head coach Senol Gunes needs to stay focus at his role at the team as his distraction right now seems to be only doing damage to the team right now.

Fenerbahce has got an important win against difficult game against Rizespor. 

Fenerbahce has managed to get an important win against Rizespor with 3:2 scoreline during Super League 24th week game, with both sides providing very exciting games and giving their best game to get a win and provide fighting spirit.

Without doubt, Fenerbahce has got very difficult win against Rizespor and to some extend didnt use very effectively its extra player during 2nd half but in same time and in all fairness it should be stated that Istanbul giant, which still has scare of being relegated, has continued to show an improvement and provided an attacking game always looking for new chances for most part of 90 minutes. It also needs to be stated that until end of the season, Fenerbahce would be having difficult games as Rizespor has shown that no team in the league would have fear with Fenerbahce especially bottom teams. One of the main positive aspects from Fenerbahce still has been without doubt the factor of being highly motivated and has provided an attacking game which was shown during 2nd half against Besiktas and more important at performance which Ersun Yanal is demanding and waiting from his side and his playing philosophy. Still, the factor that it has conceded goal while having an extra player and not killing game earlier at 2nd half still shows that Fenerbahce still needs to get into perfect football.

Rizespor even through did raise up to 10th place, in the sense of point and point difference of relegation zone is still has scare of not being at league next season and it has treated game in such a manner, and hence has shown provided very attacking game. This attitude and concentration in upcoming games should be enough for Rizespor to stay at league.

Fenerbahce has shown continuation of its good performance after Besiktas game last week, but it needs to carry on this and still improve for rest of season as scare to be relegated still exists and team should be aware of that.


Galatasaray will also try to beat through weather and field conditions against Erzurumspor. 

Galatasaray after securing its semi-final place at Turkish Cup during stressful game against Hatayspor, it would now focus once again to the league title aim as it would have very difficult game against Erzurumspor as weather might affect to the team.

As it is known, Galatasaray has asked for TFF to move game to an earlier hour due of extreme cold weather conditions as it is expected that weather could be in between -5 to -15 at the Erzurum, with even risk of the snow. As this request has been cancelled, it is known that Galatasaray has done right preparation which including using special cosmetic material to keep players bodies warm. Meanwhile, it is also reported that injured Mbiaye Diagne would be able to be starting at game as he has recovered from his injury however it would be still dissapointed that Yuto Nagatomo. Coming to importance of game, this game would be very important for both sides as Galatasaray needs to win game to get league title, Erzurumspor could be stated even more crucial as loss of 3 points could mean getting much further from safe zone from relegation and hence it would be aiming to show an attacking game and use conditions of weather and field for its own advantage as it is used more used to cold and icy conditions.

Akhisarspor has different motivation for Turkish Cup.

Akhisarspor which is currently located at the last place of the Super League, carries on providing different and more pleasant game at the Turkish Cup as it has got ticket to the semi-final stages with an impressive aggregate scoreline of 5:2 against Kasimpasa.

This scoreline does show that Akhisarspor is having different motivation towards Turkish Cup compare to Super League, as it managed to show much better performance at this competition as it did last season, even through Akhisarspor has been better at league last season. It needs to be noted that poor performance of Kasimpasa during 2019 has also played an important role as it does have serious attacking performance which was also pleasant at the game against Akhisarspor yesterday as it did manage to convert many changes despite of finding one goal. It is clear that Kasimpasa needs to provide more focus into how to solve those issues. Right now Akhisarspor as a team meanwhile has different choice of either going all the way at Turkish Cup with having a risk at being relegated from Super League so it would be difficult period for side without doubt. Stating that Akhisarspor with an appointment of new coach, could have new motivation in upcoming games.

Meanwhile, Akhisarspor has great chance to get another chance for Turkish Cup as it would be meeting with Umraniyespor but it needs to remember that Umraniyespor would give their best to get to the final stage.

Besiktas would be aiming to show again its at title race during game against Kayserispor.

After getting dissapointing result at the last week against Fenerbahce, as it has drawn against them with 3:3 scoreline, while ending 1st half with 3:0 scoreline, Besiktas would be aiming to raise its confidence and stay at title race with a win against Kayserispor.

Stating that, it would not be an easy game for Besiktas as Kayserispor is showing very good performance with Hikmet Karaman and did show that its not an easy team to beat with high organised game. Regardless of that Besiktas with their performance lately,excluding 2nd half against Fenerbahce, is in good form and if it provides right focus towards game. Another factor which could be playing role here is also how much focus would be given by Senol Gunes, to some extend being announced as head coach of Turkish National Team since 1st June could make him focus to game, while their is possibility that he was distracted with all this talks for uncertainty at Fenerbahce did show its damages during next season. Besiktas for sure, needs to win to keep their chances for league title but Kayserispor will give them difficult time for sure.

Besiktas as been mentioned are coming out as favourite but their need to show confident game to get desired results and dont get too much stressed from condition at the league their are at in sense of title race.

Fenerbahce needs to start showing top performance for 90 minutes. 

With 2nd half performance against Besiktas where it has come back from 3:0 scoreline to end game with 3:3 draw, Fenerbahce would be coming out to even more important game for them against Rizespor with high motivation.

It needless to say that Fenerbahce did provide an incredible performance at 2nd half but if it doesnt to get a win against Rizespor this week than this result would become meaningless for them and would keep them staying at danger zone with possibly being dropped again to relegation zone. Their would be playing against team which to some extend has achieved what was expected from Fenerbahce during last week as their got out from relegation zone and has got up to 10th place. Despite of that in point-wise Rizespor is still close to that zone, and hence it would be aiming at least for a draw which would mean Fenerbahce would recieve good resistance. Meanwhile, Fenerbahce during all games since Ersun Yanal more or less has shown very good performance in one half and poor performance during another half and it needs to sort out this issue for game against Rizespor for certain. This doesnt mean that Fenerbahce needs to show an attacking game for 90 minutes, as all teams would lose strength but have control of whole game which it didnt manage to do during this season.

It would be difficult and very important game and performance of Fenerbahce would show how much mentally and physically did Besiktas comeback affect players.

What happened in Turkish football today? 28/02/2019

Akhisarspor has set an eye to defend its Turkish Cup title. 

Akhisarspor at its road to defend its Turkish Cup title has also become last semi-finalists as it has beaten Kasimpasa with 5:2 aggregate scoreline and has also managed to win an away 2nd leg game with 2:1 scoreline showing their seriousness of Turkish Cup.

As it is known, Akhisarspor is currently located at the last place at the Super League and is performing poorly but this performance is not similar to Turkish Cup as it is showing totally different motivation to the tournament. Kasimpasa on other hand, is carrying on its downside performance at this tie in similar manner as it is has shown at the Super League and even through it did start 2nd leg game at good manner with creating chances, but didnt show any upper performance as it has conceded 1st goal. Stating that when it did make scoreline to 1:1, it has got some chance to turn around game as it needed to find 2 goals for extra time but it didnt use its chances. Akhisarspor on other hand has shown strong performance and motivation which has responded with organised game and also finding goal at 84th minute with Serginho. This win would also likely to provide an addiitonal motivation and confidence for rest of the season at Super League.

Akhisarspor would now meet with Umraniyespor during Turkish Cup semi-final and with their opponents showing historical performance it would be game between two sides which would be aiming for final of competition and hence would be an exciting game.

Galatasaray has almost been relegated to Hatayspor due of too much relaxation.

Galatasaray have almost been relegated from Turkish Cup quarter-final tie to 1st league side Hatayspor, despite of having an aggregate scoreline of 4:0 and an away goal at hand prior to 40 minutes until end of the game, but too much relexation from reserve and substitute had allowed opponent to show comeback.

As been mentioned at the blog yesterday and as it became clear Galatasaray head coach Fatih Terim quite understanably has shown reactive reaction for the team to show such relexation and has provided a valuable lesson of what could happen if their dont take opponent seriously. Luckily for Fatih Terim and players their still managed to get to the semi-final due of 2 away goals. Since the game has been mainly played by substitutes it could be hard to provide any criticism in sense of general performance of the side as starting 11 side at Super League would have unlikely to make same mistake. This game only has been important to note for young Turkish players which has shown too much relaxation and might also delay their chances to get to the starting 11 in upcoming future with such an attitude.

Galatasaray would now once again focus to the Super League as it would be meeting with difficult game against Erzurumspor at what would be expected to be taken place at cold conditions.

Yeni Malatyaspor has got to semi-final after beating Goztepe from penalties. 

Yeni Malatyaspor has managed to get through semi-final of Turkish Cup where it would be playing against Galatasaray after beating Goztepe at penalty kicks despite of losing 2nd leg game with 1:0 scoreline.

The factor that both sides performance at this season is being in similar manner, even through Yeni Malatyaspor did show slightly better performance during whole season, it was expected that tie would be hard to be found in between. And that has been a case as 1:0 scorelines at home ground has led for both sides to go until penalty with Yeni Malatyaspor being one to get a win. With such a win
Yeni Malatyaspor naturally has got one step closer to winning Turkish Cup as their top 4 end of the season for now is being uncertain but it would have tough game against Galatasaray at semi-final as their opponents are for now aiming to end season with a double. Coming to Goztepe, despite of being relegated it needs to be admitted that Tamer Tuna, who has returned to team just few days, has provided strong promise for rest of the season and their is high chance for team to end Super League at high note.

Yeni Malatyaspor has managed to get victorious at such close tie, but it would have tougher time against Galatasaray at semi-final.
