What happened in Turkish football today? 12.05.2016

Trabzonspor and Antalyaspor game is great chance for both sides youngsters to show themselves to the coaches. 

The penultimate week of this Super League season will start with Trabzonspor and Antalyaspor in the game where both teams dont have any aims for last two weeks. It will be chance for both teams to see their position right now prior to transfer summer window and see weakness of the team.

Trabzonspor in similar manner as last week game against Rizespor will provide most of the time to the young players to see how the future of the team are performing right now. It is certain that Trabzonspor are currently arleady planning into the future games and those games would identify which players could be useful for them for next season and see weaknesses which team has. It did recieve lots of motivation boost with the 6:0 win last week and would aim for similar result at game against Antalyaspor. Galatasaray tries to get permission for Muslera to stay for Turkish Cup final from Uruguay. 

One of the questions at the Galatasaray side is will Fernando Muslera play at the Turkish Cup final against Fenerbahce on 26th May as he needs to join Uruguaian National Team prior to Copa America.

For Galatasaray, Turkish Cup final is the most important game of the whole season and it would try its best to keep him at game as it become clear with game against Besiktas that he is very important player for a sight. By alone Muslera can help Galatasaray to win Turkish Cup final against Fenerbahce and hence reduce the chance of having 1 year ban from UEFA competition to be raised for two. There are news that Fernando Muslera would also ask for permission from Uruguay explaining the importance of the game. Similar thing happened last year when Galatasaray played against Bursaspor but back then it was different situation and hence it wasnt big issue for permission to be given.

If Fernando Muslera will not be allowed to stay with Galatasaray it could have big issues at the game against Fenerbahce on 26th May.

Mario Gomez doesnt want to stay in Besiktas.

The future of Mario Gomez at the team is stays as number one topic at the team as their are rumours that Besiktas player wants to carry on his career at European sides.

There are rumours that Gomez did state to some of his friends that 33rd week Super League game against Osmanlispor could be last game when his supporters will see him playing live. There is high number of European sides, especially from his native German who are willing to transfer him especially when he has raised into his old performance with surely help of Besiktas. Fiorentina meanwhile doesnt look to play him again if he comes back but it would sell him with section of transfer fee going to Besiktas according to contract between two sides.

Mario Gomez once raised into high level is right to want to play for bigger teams in Europe but it would big loss to Besiktas who might feel unfair if it happens.

Fenerbahce is likely to sack Vitor Pereira.

There is strong talks around Turkish media about future of the Fenerbahce head coach Vitor Pereira at the the club for next season. The Turkish media has provided high criticism towards CEO Aziz Yildirim and tactics made by Vitor Pereira and started comments that Pereıra will leave club after Turkish Cup final against Galatasaray on 26th May.

Fenerbahce is known to only accept its head coaches successful when at the end of the season team becomes champions. With purchasing so many star players in last summer with a help of ex-sports director Giuliano Terraneo there was expectation that team will perform at top level but it didnt manage to do that and right now the whole blame is thrown to Vitor Pereira. From start of the season Fenerbahce players and technical staff didnt manage to become in unity and didnt show signs of team-game. This factor alone is being shown as main reason for letting Besiktas have 6 point advantage with 2 games left at the season.

There are rumours that part of the administrators in the team do want to carry on with Vitor Pereira next season, but most likely club CEO Aziz Yildirim will use his last word and sack Pereira at the end of the season as he tends to do so.

Galatasaray are interested to appoint Abdullah Avci

One of the strong rumours going around Turkish media right now is possible appointment of the Basaksehirspor head coach Abdullah Avci to the Galatasaray. It is known that Galatasaray favours to appoint foreign coach but Avci is first choice among Turkish options.

The interest provided by Galatasaray should not be surprising as it could be stated that Abdullah Avci is among best coaches right now in Turkey and assuming economical situation of the Basaksehirspor he has always provided great results in his team. Taking account that Basaksehirspor always been tough team for every team at the league especially to Fenerbahce, as due to them team has lost chance to get league title in two seasons back-to-back. However, it does need to be remembered that chance that Basaksehirspor would like to give him to Galatasaray are very low as both Avci and club are happy with his performance and circumstances at the team.

Galatasaray choice of Abdullah Avci is good one but it will be tough for them to convince both Basaksehirspor and Avci to join them in summer.

Besiktas should not lose concentration prior to Osmanlispor game.

Besiktas as the team are fully focused into the lifting title on 15th May during Super League 33rd week game against Osmanlispor as long as it takes at least draw at the game. But this factor might let lose concentration for the players during the game.

Even through without doubt Besiktas are preparing for those games with full focus, the factor that it only needs 1 point out of possible 6 could play role psychologically to the players. Fenerbahce needs to identify mistakes which were made during this season

It was stated at our blog and in general Turkish sports media that 32nd week of this season would be a deciding one as main two title contenders will have tough games. It did turn out like that as Besiktas has 6 point advantage and just needs one point to clinch title after this weekend.
During the game against Basaksehirspor, Fenerbahce has provided very poor performance and way behind of the performance of the team which is fighting for league title. In similar manner as last year
Fenerbahce has recieved biggest damage from Basaksehirspor against who it was playing a game to stay at the race last year. Fenerbahce couldnt control game and when it did find number of attacks, Basaksehirspor and right now Turkish National Team goalkeeper Volkan Babacan didnt allow for ball to pass goalline. There is lots of revision needs to be done by Fenerbahce by head coach Vitor Pereira and its players. Yesterday Fenerbahce player Luis Nani did state that issues were not only in this game but during most part of the season.

Fenerbahce chances of getting league title is left towards miracle as right now Fenerbahce needs to win last 2 games and Besiktas losing two, which seems very unlikely to happen.

Besiktas wants title to be given to them at the game against Osmanlispor.

Besiktas has send two requests to the Turkish Football Federation after it became clear that it just need 1 point to become Super League champions. First was to request for title to be present at Vodafone Arena at 33rd Super League game against Osmanlispor and 2nd for last week game against Konyaspor to be played at Vodafone Arena, instead at Konya.

Request to play last game at the home was also requested by Galatasaray during last season final game against Rizespor and was rightly declined by Turkish Football Federation and is very likely to provide same answer to Besiktas. In addition, Konyaspor CEO Ahmet San has stated that this decision will not be accepted by them as it aims to end season with its supporters who would like to watch their last game of the season. Second request is more optional as with 1 point left it will be able to get a cup its own hand in next week game, but this request would be also likely to be declined and Besiktas might hold its championship cup in the Konya on the game player very likely on 19th May. Besiktas does make this requests by being certain that their will get title but TFF is doing right things to decline them with especially request of last week as their need for fixture to follow as it was decided prior to start of the season.

Meanwhile, Besiktas still needs to focus into Osmanlispor game as it will play against tough team fighting for Europa League spot and would aim to bring big surprise next week against Besiktas.

Turkish Football Federation changes timetable for Super League 33rd week games.

Turkish Football Federation has once again made an interesting decision by changing timetable of games for 33rd week Super League games and providing reasonably short notice which has affected weekly plans for some of the teams.

Bursaspor has complaint today about this decision stating quite rightly that it had organised their schedule like was played on original date. It stated that their head coach Hamza Hamzaolgu has provided 2 day off for training session due of fact that their will be playing on Sunday and with their game now moved to Saturday their would miss one day training. This has affected also some teams as we are entering to the last weeks of games which would be crucial to number of the teams. Fixture list can change when there is other games which conflict teams but right now apart of managing regarding of importance and interests of different teams there is no reason for this change.

Turkish Football Federation needs to stop make rush decision without considering of Turkish clubs. Similar case was observed at changing 34th week from weekend to the weekday, this decisions affect quality of football in negative way.

What happened in Turkish football today? 09.05.2016

Fenerbahce made it chance to get title almost to none.

Fenerbahce has lost very important 3 points against Basaksehirspor during 32nd week Super League game and in similar manner as last year has almost given championship to its opponents during its game at the Basaksehir stadium. Besiktas right now only needs to get 1 draw to get league title during next 2 weeks.

Fenerbahce during the game didnt provide hardly any danger to the Basaksehirspor goal until conceding two goals. It made lots of mistakes at the attacks during the game and in fact all of the players at the field were providing performance way below its level. To some extend it does seem that Besiktas win against Galatasaray has affected negatively to the players, especially mentally. Number of football analysts did state that it should be surprising if Fenerbahce losses today after Besiktas has won yesterday since it would affect teams motivation and that what has happened to the team during the game. Fenerbahce didnt manage to control game a lot with poor performance of the main players. Even when Robin van Persie has raised his performance in last 20 minutes he didnt manage to score penalty and very good chance with his header. Meanwhile, Basaksehirspor player Edin Visca has probably provided themselves 4th place at the league and also league title to Besiktas.

With following results Fenerbahce chances are left for the miracle as it needs to win rest of the two games and hope that Besiktas loses all of the two games which is left at the Super League. The future of the Fenerbahce head coach Vitor Pereira quite naturally will be uncertain after this game.

Basaksehirspor has got an important 3 points from its perspectives and with good results from last 2 games will get 4th place and Europa League spot at the end of the season as it had 4 point advantage from Osmanlispor who are 5th placed.

Besiktas is just one draw away from league title

The goal which was scored by Mario Gomez at the 76th minute against Galatasaray during 32nd week of the Super League game could make Besiktas to get league title at the end of the season.

Besiktas right now needs to get only a draw out of 2 fixtures regardless what Fenerbahce does.
As been stated at yesterday's blog, Besiktas didnt play its best football but always had control of the game and did provide image that it can get much-important win against its historical rivals. Besiktas player Jose Sosa alone could bring comfortable win against Galatasaray if his shots during the game were much better as he had missed around 5 goal-scoring shots. Coming to the goal of Mario Gomez, there is lots of talk if goal should been eligible as their was fan inside the field. However, since he was too far and didnt affect at all to the game it was right decision to count the goal. If Galatasaray did start however counter-attack at that time, game would been stopped. Besiktas had some stressful moments during the game especially first half but it managed to get very important win at the end of the day.

Besiktas is now focussing to tough game against Osmanlispor but it will use its home advantage once again very likely and aim for at least a draw so it can celebrate championship on that game.

Galatasaray has provided best football but it didnt have enough stamina for whole game.

Galatasaray has provided one of the best football it had during this season and especially during 1st half has found high number of positions but as game carried on with so much effort given by the Galatasaray players had become tired which affected to rise of number of attacks by Besiktas in 2nd half.

It needs to be stated that despite of some comments made prior game Galatasaray did provide great football and tried to score at some moments of the game. In fact, in comparison it could be stated that Galatasaray played better football than it did against Fenerbahce. However, those attacks did come in spontaneous and most  of them lacked organisation which hence led them not to score goals. With players low motivation and stamina it lost its focus at 2nd half and after conceding goal from Mario Gomez it has mentally and physically gave up into the game.

Right now, Galatasaray has hard task for getting 4th place which would leave them with league route to Europa League and hence go through UEFA ban. Its 4 points behind 4th placed Basaksehirspor and it does seem tough to catch them

What happened in Turkish football today? 08.05.2016

Mario Gomez goal could bring league title to Besiktas.

Besiktas did manage to win 32nd Super League game against Galatasaray in stressful game and carries on its route for its league title in the game which was seen by many observers as decider. It needs however to be stated that Besiktas didnt provide great performances at 1st half but did improve at 2nd half.

Galatasaray with its performance was closer for a win during 1st half with catching much more chances while Besiktas did look like psychologically there were not ready for the game. Besiktas has provided much better performance during 2nd half with arleady Jose Sosa creating lots of chances from start of half. However, without much surprise Super League most goalscoring player Mario Gomez managed to find winning goal at 76th minute of the game. Besiktas didnt provide its best performances of this season but it create lots of attacks and did show that it came out for today's game for a  which it got. Meanwhile, during the goal position there was a supporter who has entered to the field to the midfield section of the field. It could be argued that game could have stopped but since his behaviour didnt affect directly to the game decision to carry on game and count goal as eligible.

Besiktas became much more closer to the league title as for them winning one game and drawing another will be enough to get a league title regardless how Fenerbahce plays. However, any moment Besiktas loses game it could give title to the Fenerbahce. Besiktas will play tough game against Osmanlispor next week and would meet against Konyaspor at the last week where Konyaspor prior to game could guarentee its 3rd place.

Galatasaray did provide a good football and did fight to finding chances especially during first half in which it could be said that the fearful fact that Galatasaray will allow Besiktas to win the game and with the lack of finding goals. Of course, after conceding goal and negative behaviour of supporters and lack of motivation by the players it didnt carry on good performance.

Trabzonspor surprisingly wins Rizespor with 6:0 scoreline.

With almost whole season providing poor performance Trabzonspor has managed to score 6 goals without reply against Rizespor during Super League 32nd week game and hence provided one of the biggest surprises of this week at the league.

Trabzonspor by finding 6 goals and with providing an attacking football during whole game has provided incredible performance without allowing any movement to the Rizespor. And it is important to note that the game was played 11 on 11 so its not like Rizespor could not match up. Prior to the game, with reference to previous games Trabzonspor was seen to have difficulty to the game but just opposite has happened in today's game. Trabzonspor youth player, born on 1997, Yusuf Yazici has become star of the game by finding goal 5th goal and also his general performance by creating number of good chances. This was by far the best performance of Trabzonspor with its head coach Hami Mandirali this season who was heavily criticised by the fans. Of course, as always this performance does raise question of why their didnt perform like that in previous weeks but it is great performance today.

It was stated several times at this blog that it is important for team to provide good performance at the end of the season as to make build-up for next season and if it carries on like that for last 2 games in the season it can raise some hope at administrators and fans.

Meanwhile, this unexpected loss by Rizespor made them lose their chance from getting from drop zone. Being 4 points ahead and 2 games to play it does have control at hand but now the team will be at stressful position at next week game against Gaziantepspor.

Fenerbahce does come out at better form against Basaksehirspor.

Fenerbahce is going to play one of the toughest games of this season during 32nd week Super League game against Basaksehirspor which could also be treated as another Istanbul derby. Basaksehirspor has always being tough team for top 3 teams in the Super League.

Besiktas needs to win tomorrow if it wants to get title this season.

Taking account the games left at the last two games and also affect it can have into team motivation, Besiktas tomorrow game against Galatasaray could be the most important for them of the season. If it manages to win the game it will get one step closer to the league title.

Besiktas main focus for the 32nd week Super League derby game would getting 3 points and get huge upper hand against Fenerbahce during last 2 weeks. Playing at the away game could be seen as disadvantage but Besiktas did get great results from previous weeks while playing away and with the strength between two teams Besiktas does come as strong favourite. The big role would be given to the attackers especially Mario Gomez as it will have difficult task at beating Galatasaray goalkeeper Fernando Muslera who even through does concede goals this season a lot, still can provide crucial saves at crucial moments of game. Besiktas still needs to play its top football as it will run risk of losing title at this game.

Besiktas will surely provide attacking football tomorrow trying to create as much chances and dont allow Galatasaray to feel comfortable during the game. If it manages to win it will got with 3 point advantage to the last 2 games of the league.

Meanwhile, there is huge talks around Turkish media that Galatasaray will allow Besiktas to win so Fenerbahce will not get league title. But this statements are pretty absurd as Galatasaray has chance to get apology from its fans at tomorrow game and also its importance for them to get Europa League spot at the league.

Galatasaray did improve with its performance in last few weeks at the league and also nice performance during 2 legs at the Turkish Cup against Rizespor but it is still weaker at strength against Besiktas. The behaviour of the supporters is very important because if its will show supporting behaviour towards Besiktas, to stop Fenerbahce getting title, then it could be only damaging to a team but it is unlikely to be done as Galatasaray fans would like to see victory tomorrow. What seems to be hard game for Galatasaray could become clear if it will be easier to them by their gameplay and behaviour of fans. It does need to be remembered that win tomorrow for Galatasaray could make them step closer to 4th position at the league.

Rizespor would aim not to lose game against Trabzonspor

Trabzonspor will play its 32nd week Super League game against Rizespor which would be battle between two teams who are located just below middle of the table. Rizespor is currently 4 points further from drop zone while Trabzonspor is 7.

Rizespor will see following game as the chance to get further from drop zone and in fact draw at such tough game will be enough for them. Fenerbahce has a chance to make a double at the end of the season

Turkish Cup final of the 2015-2016 season will be between Fenerbahce and Galatasaray at the May 26th in the Antalya. Once again the biggest rivarly will be taking place at the final and very likely providing exciting game between two teams.

Both teams has managed to get to the final without having much problem, with Fenerbahce looking at the scoreline has had easier entrance with an aggregate of 5:0 after two legs at the semi-final. Konyaspor could won game with 1:0 and still allow Fenerbahce get to final. Mircea Lucescu could offer his son Razvan for Galatasaray coach post while being sports director.

Intensive negotiations between Galatasaray administrators with Shakhtar Donetsk head coach Mircea Lucescu has been carried on with the news that Lucescu plans to leave Shakhtar Donetsk.

Despite of that there is an active talk that Mircea Lucescu plans to end his career as head coach as he believes that he is getting too old to catch-up with fast-paced football. To return, Lucescu plans to offer to Galatasaray his son as head coach Razvan Mircescu and in return he will be sports director of the team. With this, Lucescu would play more background role at the team and would provide strong assist to his son Razvan. This offer didnt look too positively at the beginning by Istanbul giants but with Mircea being playing an active background role it could be best option for a team.

Meanwhile, Galatasaray to have alternatives to the role of the head coach including Lucien Favre. Favre doesnt seem to be too interested for Galatasaray job according to rumours but this option is still open for him.

It is hard for team like Leicester City to come out in Turkey.

Following yesterday's Turkish Cup 2nd leg semi-final game against Fenerbahce, Konyaspor head coach Aykut Kocaman has stated that it is hard for them and in general in Turkey to be team like Leicester City.

By this statement he once against stated dominance of big 3 teams, where everything goes to finances, media and other factors which stop to create such a miracle. Of course, Bursaspor did manage to win title but that case was an exceptional. In Turkish football, bigger clubs always tend to get favourable condition by many factors outside of football field and inside, with referees being best example. Its not impossible for smaller clubs to become like Leicester City, but it needs to try for long time and hope that external issues allow them. It is possible, but needs lots of effort.

Konyaspor meanwhile needs to aim to become stronger team for next season and it will do by doing smart transfers and develop existed players and in return provide great performance at Super League next season and also at Europa League.
