What happened in Turkish football today? 05.08.2016

Osmanlispor gets easier opponent among Turkish teams but it wont be easy game.

Osmanlispor carries on being one of the teams so far at the Europa League which has passed its expectation by reaching to the Europa League play-off round where it would play against Danish club Midtjylland.

With comparing to other Turkish teams at the draw it could been seen that Ankara side has gotten easiest opponent but it wont be easy game for them taking account that Danish side has an experience from Europa League last season including beating Manchester United. It is important for Osmanlispor, who so far being relatively lucky and didnt lose 4 games at the Europa League, that it needs to raise performance if it wants to get to Europa League group stages. Right now team is at the good motivation though and with strong belief it can provide another pleasant surprise.

Osmanlispor is fully confident right now but it does need to keep its feet at the ground in game against Midtjylland and give it all its best in this draw.

Basaksehirspor will have tough time agaisnt Shakhtar Donetsk.

In other side, Basaksehirspor has gotten one of the strongest teams at the play-off round stage of Europa League, which is Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk which is in some extend in the level of the Champions League.

It is certain that in game against Shakhtar Donetsk, Basaksehirspor needs to raise its performance wise as the game against Rijeka wasnt satisfying and in fact it only got through with Edin Visca away goals and didnt manage to win games at two legs. Therefore, with this performance Basaksehirspor would have pretty tough times at its game against Ukrainian giants. Saying that, Basaksehirspor does get positive results against big teams around Turkey so there is small space for surprise result but it would have toughest time among other Turkish teams at the play-off round.

Basaksehirspor does need to believe it can achieve result and provide football which it does at the Super League against big 4. Only good news for Basaksehirspor is that Shakhtar Donetsk is not in same level as it was last year.

Fenerbahce is been drawn against Grasshopper at the Europa League play-off round.

Fenerbahce has been drawn against Swiss legendary club Grasshopper which however needs to be stated is far away from its memorable Champions League performance back in 1990's. Fenerbahce would come as strong favourite even through their were better options at the draw.

One of the factors for Fenerbahce as been stated at last season blogs several times however is that sometimes style of play by Istanbul side is being biggest downside and some tactics actually helps its opponents more. Fenerbahce needs to improve as a team with number of training and believe that it can achieve great result against Grasshoppers. With more likely that newly-signed players would get more adapted to a team would also help for team to perform better and get results which it seeking for and start another Europa League campaign at the group stage in September.

Fenerbahce as long as it is focussed at the game and improves its own game shall be confident at getting to the tournament and provide high quality football.
