What happened in Turkish football today? 15.08.2016

Fenerbahce fires Vitor Pereira as clubs head coach.

As was expected, Fenerbahce has fired its head coach Vitor Pereira stating reasons as due of poor results and not following areas which were put into his contract has led for such a drastic decision to take place. Surely, the poor performance at the game against Monaco at Champions League 3rd qualifying round has been catalyst for such a decision.

Vitor Pereira has recieved high number of criticism as soon as he has joined team and did look like he will be leaving the team as soon as previous season was over. Fenerbahce, mainly due of high compensation, has decided to keep him at the post but poor performance at the Champions League 3rd qualifying round game against Monaco has led team to fire him without having any choice in its hand. Even through he did fight for league title during last season until last 3 weeks and helped team to get to last 16 of the Europa League the lack of the attacking game for team did cost him a lot. The team has been winning for most part of the game with 1:0 scoreline. Of course, with Fenerbahce providing Pereira with psychological pressure on last weeks made it clear that for him to stay at the team would only bring damage to both parties.

This blog did defend several times Pereira but it did become clear that with this performance it was hard to see big successes for a team in upcoming season. Right now Dick Advocaat has hard job with season starting straight away so it is important for him to get used to the team very fast.

Fenerbahce is close to appoint Dick Advocaat as club's head coach.

The news that Fenerbahce has appointed new head coach, namely Dick Advocaat, has been going around the media even before Fenerbahce has announced officially that Vitor Pereira is fired.

According to Dutch media, Advocaat in fact has made an agreement with a team for 1 year and stated that following offer was hard to refuse making it clear that Fenerbahce did offer high amount of cash to the team in such a short notice. Dick Advocaat main eye-catching point of CV is surely his successes at the Russian club Zenit St.Petersburg where he has enjoyed Russian title and Europa League title, success which he would look to succeed with his new club this season. Only problem is that he would be coming to new team without knowing much about it, apart of Robin van Persie, and not being familiar with Super League and playing this weekend against one of the most tough opponents at the Super League, Basaksehirspor. Surely, Advocaat needs to be given time for start of the season to get adapted but those weeks could cost much to the team.

Dick Advocaat choice is hard to comment if it was right one as the upcoming results would show if he fits to team or would be another unsuccessfully appointment for a team.

Besiktas need to transfer Vincent Aboubakar.

Besiktas game against Galatasaray at the Super Cup has shown to everyone that team is not ready at attacking wise to the season and hence it started transfer negotiations with forward players, with focussing to Porto player Vincent Aboubakar.

Surely, Aboubakar will not be as good as transfer as was Mario Gomez but team does need urgently attacker for its Super League and also Champions League. Aboubakar is in calibre to solve this issue as he did score number of goals in Portugal and could be best option for such a short time. If this or another attacking transfer will not happen for Besiktas than it would have high problems at the attacking section of the games and hence make it defence of league title into difficult area. Transfer window is still open for 16 days and Besiktas as noted needed to solve this as soon as possible.

In fact, if Besiktas will not solve Vincent Aboubakar it will end without any options at the front as it hard to find good attacker so late at the transfer window.
