What happened in Turkish football today? 22/06/2020

Trabzonspor lost crucial 2 points as it draws against Alanyaspor.

Alanyaspor player Bakasetas last minute goal has brought an equaliser goal against Trabzonspor, which led their opponent to lose crucial 2 points in title race and lose leadership to Basaksehirspor with providing not very impressive performance.

Even through Trabzonspor did provide some good performance during 1st half and did start 2nd half in good manner and finding 2nd goal with Filip Novak on 50th minute, it could be noted that for rest of the 2nd half it did lose control of the game with Alanyaspor and could be seen to be lucky to get 1 point from such performance. It needs to be noted that Trabzonspor did play with some absences during game with especially Jose Sosa absence been felt during game which did lead for such performance, and meeting with one of the sides which does provide positive football and also being cup finalist did provide some difficulty towards them. With league getting to last 6 weeks during this season, every point is without being very important especially when its being same points with Basaksehirspor and side did lose its advantage. Still, it needs to be noted that Erce Kardesler performance in 2nd half who substituted injured goalkeeper on 1st half did provide very crucial saves to get this 1 point which could be crucial in title race.

Alanyaspor whose chance for title and being bit outsider of Europa League spots, did see this game more like training for Turkish Cup final as it would be meeting against Trabzonspor. It needs to be noted that club did provide great performance and does make it clear it capable to provide performance in same level as Trabzonspor.

Trabzonspor didnt provide very effective performance during 2nd half with allowing its opponents to get high number of chances. Even through it does have some absences, it needs to show better game for title race.

Skubelic keeps its title chances arrive for Sivasspor.

Sivasspor carries on its hopes for league title alive thanks to last minute from Skubelic during Super League 28th week with 2:2 scoreline, and enters to last 6 weeks of the season with 6 point behind leaders.

It could be noted that for most amount of time as been noted on previous day entry, Sivasspor didnt provide specifically effective performance but performance and attitude it showed during last 20 minutes with providing all its effort to find equaliser did provide that it doesnt have any plans to fight for title during this last stage of the season. With having pretty strong fixture advantage since it would be playing against clubs which could be identifying as easy and not having supporters pressure during such period could go into their advantage as both Basaksehirspor and Trabzonspor would be meeting with Galatasaray which could lead to potential loss of points. Still, Sivasspor needs to be aiming to manage to keep control of the game for whole game if it doesnt want to lose some crucial points.

Sivasspor did get important point and with it coming in last minute likely to have positive impact in confidence for last games then negative one.

6-second rule has been used correctly towards Kocuk

With conceding goal from penalty goal during high -tension game against Gaziantep and ending game with 3:3 scoreline, it did found itself against leaders 8 points with only getting 1 point following resume of league after lockdown.

There has been high number of arguments and discussions regarding of 6-second rule used towards Galatasaray goalkeeper Orkun Kocuk who has kept ball in his hands for 18 seconds, which led for free-kick and later to penalty kick due of same position. Even through everyone agrees that according to rulebook decision is correct, it didnt been used for lots of years and hence should not be given. This argument in our view is pretty unusual since rule is correct but shouldnt be used is weird one, as it is crucial to follow rules. Our blog believes that decision has been right and all this arguments are premature. If anyone did make mistake in this position, it was Kocuk who did keep ball in full control. Despite of having one less men meanwhile, Galatasaray drawing game with 3:1 scoreline is still not acceptable and needs to find reasons why this outcome took place.

Galatasaray would play against Basaksehirspor and Trabzonspor next 2 weeks and those games would identify aims of the club for rest of season.
