What happened in Turkish football today? 23/05/2018

Rizespor are back to Super League after 1 year absence.

After being relegated from Super League last season in pretty scandalous way, Rizespor has been promoted back to the top division and also being clubs which does have high number of season at the top division, would be aiming to provide high level performance.

Rizespor would be coming to the Super League as top team at the 1st league with showing high level performance especially towards last weeks of the season with an aim to show to its supporters and whole country that its a team which belongs at this league. In fact, Rizespor has extended contract with its head coach Ibrahim Uzulmez for one more year today and showing that it has full trust to its head coach, which is important move as we had seen from last summer period high number of newly-promoted clubs has ended contracts with their head coach with statement that their level is not good enough to compete at the Super League. It needs to be stated that Ibrahim Uzulmez has also experience as coach at the Super League and hence he could have be able to manage his club. Rizespor would make some additions for Super League this summer without doubt but it does have good squad in its hand right now which does put advantage to the side.

Rizespor as side has better experience at the Super League compare to other promoted teams in sense of administration and squad which would mean that it would be able to get adapted to high level football.

Ankaragucu would be only representative at Super League from capital next season.

Another club which has been returned to Super League this season has been Ankaragucu but compare to Rizespor it has been absent for number of years and had some serious economical issues at recent year.

In fact, when it was relegated it was coming down in economical wise which was also case with its performance levels but once when it has been able to solve those issues performance wise team has been improving and has been raised to Super League with high level performance during whole season with having an aim to get back to top division. It needs to be stated that performance of its head coach Ismail Kartal who did have number of experience with Fenerbahce in previous years has also played an important role with good performance by Ankaragucu. It also needs to be mentioned that with Ankaragucu getting to top division also means that it has took place of Ankara representative since two of the capital clubs Osmanlispor and Genclerbirligi have been relegated from Super League. With taking this role and likely getting full support from capital city football followers it would be aiming to make a team which would be able to stay at the league for longer time.

Right now quite naturally team would be focussed into making their squad stronger to be able to provide high level performance at top division next season.

Erzurum Buyuksehir Belediyespor will be youngest team at Super League as it has only formed in 2010.

With Erzurum Buyuksehir Belediyespor has been promoted to the Super League with beating
Gazisehir Gaziantepspor through penalties of 1st league play-off final game, it has also become youngest team at the top division as it been formed only on 2010.

What is also impressive from sides that during last 3 seasons it has been promoted from each of the divisions until it has shown great figting spirit at the 1st league regular season and also play-off round to become last team which would be taking place at top division next season. Apart of ex-Fenerbahce star Mert Nobre it also needs to be noted that it doesnt have much experienced players who has performed at the Super League and hence would need to do lots of experienced transfers but same time it has good players who has played an important role for team to get there and hence during summer transfer window it needs to give all focus. Coming to transfer their are rumours that side are interested with Fenerbahce player Ismail Koybasi. Now, Erzurumspor did raise by each level which is incredible for only 8-year old club but it needs to be aware that Super League is totally different level and hence it needs both at transfer and mentally to prepare for this during pre-season training camp.

Erzurumspor surely are happy just to be promoted to top division but it needs to prove also that it belongs there in next season to whole Turkey.
