What happened in Turkish football today? 22/05/2018

Osmanlispor has relegated from Super League despite having quality side.

Osmanlispor as would been remembered has been side which has shown very impressive performance during last season at Europa League getting as far as to knockout stages but as the side it didnt manage to carry on this top performance in this season.

Osmanlispor in the sense of the squad is possibly one of the strongest among relegated teams including players such as Karcemarskas and Serdar Gurler and certainly are in level of Super League. However, due of some unexpected losses and lack of motivation of some weeks didnt manage to show performance which is needed. As it is remembered, Serdar Gurler has joined team during mid-season break and provided good performance and by many has been seen as among best during past season but his sole performance wasnt able to move team forward and stay at the league. It needs to be noted that in similar manner as Basaksehirspor, Osmanlispor is been run by governmental administration, this time from Ankara municipality but as we see it didnt manage to do same amount of good job taking account that it did have an aim to become team which would be fighting for top positions even before success at Europa League.

Being relegated from Super League would be able to provide some revision of this season and it would be aiming for sure to get back to top division after one season with being much better side.

Genclerbirligi has been relegated at season named after their legendary CEO.

Another Ankara side which has been relegated as Genclerbirligi and their relegation has been more tragic as it took place at the season which was named after their ex-CEO Ilhan Cavcav, and father of current CEO Mustafa Cavcav, who has passed away.

Genclerbirligi has been regular of Super League since 1988-89 season and has shown very impressive results but without being run as club in more organised manner as in previous years has led them to be relegated in such a manner. Genclerbirligi head coach Umit Ozat who has been fired in start of season and later being called back didnt provide performance which was awaited from his with his side even through he was remembered to get wins against Fenerbahce and Galatasaray which also makes it especially surprising of their relegation. It could be stated that games which was played against their direct opponents at relegation zone has cost them mainly and led them to be eliminated. As been mentioned, on previous blog entry - Super League next season, at least in the beginning, would be certainly be felt unusual as Genclerbirligi has been side which was associated with whole league for long time. All fans also aware that team belongs to top division, and administration needs to do their best to bring them back.

Genclerbirligi elimination without doubt has been among main shocks of this season but at same time it chance for Murat Cavcav to study his father period to recognise what he is not doing same to keep this club at top.

Karabukspor season has been tragedy for them.

If Genclerbirligi elimination has been as biggest shock, condition of the Karabukspor without doubt has been among biggest tragic stories which took place at past season.

Many Turkish football pundits has provided criticism towards Karabukspor for not providing much fighting spirit during 2nd half of the season and becoming "average" side for other sides. However, it needs to be aware that condition which team was at means that it wasnt at easy to play games even at all. It was known that club administration has trouble at providing fees towards players at the side and has also high number of other difficulties with taking account that city has left team alone and didnt provide much support from local businessman. Adding that many players has left side during mid-season transfer window, mainly due of not recieving enough salary on time has also affected team at negatively without doubt. Club which has such high issue and was at short at the mess, it would be not reasonably to expect from them very good performance. In fact, team was at such situation that administration had admitted any point would be saver for them due of money coming from TFF but with lack of motivation concentration from players has led them not to get those points.

As with all clubs relegated, it would be also present to see Karabukspor coming back with stronger condition but taking account into situation this could be very difficult task and it would just aim to show best at 1st league.
