What happened in Turkish football today? 05.07.2016

Fenerbahce has sold its player Luis Nani to Valencia.

Fenerbahce has announced today that it has sold Luis Nani with transfer fee of 8.5 million to  Valencia, as Spanish club has used "release clause" part of the Nanı contract. Even through Fenerbahce was hoping to sell him for more money, it has still able to sell one of the players which it was aiming to get rid of this summer.

In fact, both of the clubs has agreed for transfer few weeks before but the official announcement was made today by the Istanbul side. Luis Nani during his one year period at the Fenerbahce was not able to provide football at the level which was expected by everyone and hence it could be referred as dissapointing season for both parties. In fact, it was observed that Nani has performed much better at the Euro2016 with Portuguese National Team and helped them to reach to semi-final stage. This top performance did however play an important role as it led Valencia of deciding to transfer him.

Most important thing that it did manage to get rid of the player which it didnt want with getting some extra cash which it could use with upcoming transfers such as to Liverpool player Martin Skrtel. Now club would aim to sell another its problematic player Robin van Persie.

Galatasaray players are unhappy with unnecessary card fines given by club administrators.

Galatasaray players, especially foreign players, are showing strong disbelief and protest towards decision by the team administrators to provide fine for unneccesary cards during the last season games at any competition.

Number of players, such as Wesley Sneijder and Fernando Muslera, in fact see following fine as the sign that club wants to sell them, with both players stating that it would been better if their have told them that it plans to sell them. Muslera has stated that he was wasting time against Akhisar Belediyespor purposefully as team didnt play good and he wanted time to go through in last minutes. There is also talks that number of players will not ask for reduction of salaries since large part of their salary is taken away from this new fine system towards players.

This story might develop a lot as Galatasaray is going through very tough time especially administrators of the team, and this fine decision is highly unpopular. It does look like team has created to itself another problem out of nowhere.

Besiktas has difficulty at keeping its key players.

Besiktas right now has a very difficult task at keeping its players who played an important role at the league title of the previous season. It is known that Atiba Hutchinson wants to leave to West Ham United and Jose Sosa to Estudiantes, while Mario Gomez doesnt seem to be certain if he should stay at the team or not for next season.

With terror attacks taking place in Istanbul Ataturk Airport, it does seem that it has mainly affected to the Besiktas player who doesnt want to stay at the club and using this as an excuse. There is even talks that some of the players wants raise for their salary due of terrorism fear in Turkey, even through its hard to find any connection between those two factors. Interesting part is that from outside Besiktas seems to be in good condition with relations with players but there seems to be something taking place behind the scenes which leads for those players for wanting to move which could be due of salaries or chance to develop better in other teams. Taking account that so far Besiktas was not specifically active with transfers, with only transferring Gokhan Gonul so far it does raise questions if transfer politics are not going great for a team.

There were talks after league title that team would make stronger team in level of the Champions League but so far it has trouble at keeping its key players of current squad.
