What happened in Turkish football today? 18.07.2016


Super League 2016-17 draw has been taken place today.

Turkish Football Federation has made a draw for the Super League season of the 2016-17 season which would start on 18th August and is promising to be among one of the most exiciting seasons.

Next season among race for league title as usual between Fenerbahce, Galatasaray and Besiktas trying to keep its title, would be especially interesting into ways how last season surprise packages Konyaspor and Osmanlispor would perform among usual top 5 contenders Kasimpasa and Basaksehirspor giving their fight. Another interests note is how would new comers: Adanaspor, Karabukspor and first time Super League competing side Alanyaspor would compete. In first week, Besiktas and Galatasaray would play with those newcomers, Alanyaspor and Karabukspor respectively while Fenerbahce would play against Basaksehirspor team which been among reasons why their lost league title last 2 seasons.

Next season countdown has to some extend has started today with 1 month until kick-off of first games. With more transfers to be made, it would be expect for teams to come out with strong squads.

UEFA didnt recieve change of location from Monaco for game against Fenerbahce.

UEFA has announced today that it didnt recieve call from Monaco for changing location of the
Fenerbahce game on next week and has stated that those are only rumours.

Following rumour has been come out after failed coup d'etat events that has taken place in Istanbul and Ankara on the 15th July. Fenerbahce has also stated that there is no reason why game would be cancelled and has stated that game can be played safety. Club states that it would organise accomadation to the Monaco even through there were also rumours that Monaco are not doing any reservation. It is important for game to be played in Istanbul to show world and to some extend coup planners that life still goes on Istanbul.

With following UEFA announcement it does look like game will be played in Istanbul.

Galatasaray player Bruma and Martin Linnes are staying in club.

Galatasaray players Bruma and Martin Linnes has announced that their dont have any intentions at leaving the team and are aiming to provide strong performance at the next season.

Bruma announcement was more crucial stating that he did recieve an offer from PSV Eindhoven but he sees him as Galatasaray player. He did state however that negotiations would take place between clubs hence not declining his move is possible but provides signs that he is looking forward for next season in Turkey. Martin Linnes meanwhile has stated that even if those events in Turkey over weekend has negative effect he still has no intentions at the leaving club.

Both players are planning to stay at the team and will likely provide good season and would give respect to their contract.
