What happened in Turkish football today? 17.07.2016

Players who use failed coup d'etat excuse are ones who wanted to leave.

After some important notes which been stated at our blog yesterday regarding of football impact
failed coup d'etat has to some extend has shown reality from today's news from sports media. With some players wanting to leave Turkey.

Stating that, most of those players are ones who were planning to leave team anyway and are using this issues as an excuse. This mainly regards of Besiktas players such as Atiba Hutchinson, Jose Sosa and also Galatasaray player Blerim Dzemailli with who team was close to make an agreement with its teams and seems to be agreed to stay at the team. It is expected that those players would use failed coup d'etat as another reason to leave country to another team. However, its need to be noted that number of foreign player has announced that their are staying at the Turkey and have no intentions at leaving the team showing solidarity with recent events.

Those players are surely play much important role showing its support to the Turkish public for democracy and its loyalty to a teams, and also probably being happy with its contract with those teams.

Monaco requesting to play Fenerbahce game at neutral location.

As Monaco has become first team who had refused to play against Fenerbahce by sending request to the UEFA for the Champions League 3rd qualifying round game at the neutral location. This decision has recieved big criticism around Turkey.

Many fans of the Fenerbahce are unhappy with that request stating that in return game to be played at the France to be moved also neutral location due of lots terror attacks taking place in the France. There is big expectation however that following request will not be accepted by UEFA as there is few weeks until that game. It would been understandable if this request has been taken when games was played in few days time but with the following request UEFA would deny or make decision week before game. The chance for game to be moved to neutral location seem to be low.

Monaco also could use this an opportunity to get its slight advantage but UEFA should make decision according to situation in Turkey prior to game.

Clubs has taken care of its players during failed coup d'etat events.

It is known that all of the clubs had an important role it had played to calm down its players when failed coup d'etat has taken place at the night connecting 16th July. With high number of players hearing bombs and being affected by those events.

Club administrators across all teams has played an important role at keeping players at calm situation stating them that their should stay at home and be careful for their security. It has controlled situation by informing foreign players and hence keeping them in calm. Galatasaray player Fernando Muslera has arrived to home 15 minutes after airport was taken into control into coup, and some players being outside at the restaurants. It is good that number of players who has been direct involved are still low.

Safety of players would certainly be opened as an important topic in upcoming days but for now this issue seems to be in control of clubs.
