Fenerbahce has improved defensive game from last season.
Fenerbahce return to the Champions League experience has not been at the way which their had hoped for as their lost to Benfica during 3rd qualifying round 1st leg but as been stated at blog entry yesterday team did show some important improvement from last season.
Even through team did lose game, it got a scoreline which would keep team a strong chance to get to the play-off round where it would get strong support from its fans. It needs to be stated that performance of the team during 1st half especially, against Benfica has provided an important hope for 2nd leg and whole season as it provided very organised football. As been promised by Phillip Cocu the focus of the team would be to defend without forgetting an attack. However, Fenerbahce didnt manage to carry on this top level performance during 2nd half where it went into fully defence as it also conceded single goal from mistakes of Nabil Dirar and also Volkan Demirel. However, apart of that position and also lack of centre-forward players at Benfica Fenerbahce did show very good performance with showing strong focus at defence especially from Martin Skrtel and Roman Neustadtner. It is important however during 2nd leg for Fenerbahce do not concede goal and show good attacking football during whole game and possibly extra time.
Fenerbahce is going to meet against Bursaspor during opening week of Super League and win and good performance at that game could provide important motivation for Benfica 2nd leg game.
Besiktas aims to end tie at home game as it would be meeting against LASK Linz.
Besiktas is going to carry on its route towards Europa League group stage against LASK Linz where it going meet them during 3rd qualifying round as it would be coming out as strong favourite and would aim to conclude tie at home.
Besiktas with beating B36 Torshavn on previous stage with 8:0 aggregate has gained an important motivation for their game against Austrian side who also has went through to this stage with 6:1 scoreline against Lillestrom. Even through this aggregate, does raise some eyebrows it does need to be mentioned that Lillestrom is in similar level as B36 Torshavn. Besiktas surely would be providing an attacking game against LASK and aiming to end tie at this game.
Besiktas is capable to achieve that against not very strong side but it needs to be aware that this test is harder compare to B36 Torshavn and take it much more serious.
Basaksehirspor needs to show attacking game against Burnley.
Without doubt, Basaksehirspor would be having tougher task during Europa League 3rd qualifying round against Burnley as it would be meeting with English side which has won Aberdeen on previous stage after extra time.
Even through without doubt Burnley doesnt have much experience at the European football compare to Basaksehirspor, it is still from nation of football and is used to play an important and tough games which does raise them one step ahead of Basaksehirspor. Even through Basaksehirspor did gain some experience at European football at recent seasons it is still hard to state that it has got very good performances at those front and hence could also have some difficulties. It is crucial for Basaksehirspor to provide some respect to Burnley but also be aware that it is not much weaker to their opponents and provide pretty balanced game between defence and attack showing some organised attacking games as their did in Super League during last 2 seasons. This focus and believe would be able to move team forward against Burnley.
It is crucial for Basaksehirspor also to get good result to make task easier for away return game for certain due of strong support of Burnley fans.
