What happened in Turkish football today? 18.02.2017

Igor Tudor didnt provide much improvement at game even through he being at Galatasaray for short time.

Galatasaray head coach Igor Tudor first game with his new club against Rizespor during Super League 21st week game didnt end up being as was planned as the game has ended with 1:1 scoreline and Galatasaray didnt manage to show any fast-paced organised game.

It needs to be reminded that Igor Tudor has joined the team during the midweek which needs to be stated is very short period of time for the the team to be ready as coach wants and hence it would be too critical to judge Galatasaray performance and use this game as reference point for upcoming week against Besiktas. Galatasaray has provided a poor performance without having too much tempo even when finding 1st goal even through it showed much more controlling football for rest of 2nd half. Another aspect which was visible at the 2nd half is when Rizespor has shown much more brave and forward seeking football to which Galatasaray wasnt able to respond. Igor Tudor did show some change of tactics and focussing into physical performance and seeking for much more organised football but the players are not used to keep this high tempo performance which has also helped Rizespor to play more active football during 2nd half of the game. Igor Tudor did provide some positive views but as the team it needs to improve physically to provide what coach will be seeking from them.

Rizespor didnt show much fear from Galatasaray especially during 2nd half using an advantage of them changing head coach as it would be reasonable for them to be affected by fast change of head coach of their opponents. Rizespor has shown much better performance during 2nd half and it was able to find a great free-kick goal which allowed them to get 1 point from game.

Galatasaray performance at today's game is not enough for Besiktas derby game which will be played on 27th February but it needs to be stated Igor Tudor would work much more active during this 9 day period and physically and tactically it is expected to be more ready.

Besiktas will be coming out with good mood against Akhisar Belediyespor.

Besiktas would aim to raise its point difference during Super League 21st week game against Akhisar Belediyespor as Basaksehirspor and Galatasaray has lost 2 points and would aim to make stronger its leadership even more stable until end of the season.

Besiktas has regained an important motivation and confidence at the 3:1 win against Hapoel Beer-Sheva at the Europa League 2nd round 1st leg game on 16th February after it has lost back-to-back at the Turkish Cup and Super League and would to carry on its good performance at the return to the Super League. Besiktas it needs to be stated once again becoming a team to play much more organised football at the whole league and is in good mood which would certainly provide a positive aspect to the game. Akhisar Belediyespor as it is known is not at best form right now and much below compare to last season but of course it doesnt mean that it is not capable to get a win as was observed from last week games as top teams lost sudden points. It needs to be stated that Besiktas needs to stay focus as it needs in all of the games but it is coming as an favourite and would likely to be met with usual strong defence by Akhisar at the night. One of the key players as once again seems to be at the Cenk Tosun who so far has scored 15 goals at the league.

Besiktas are coming out as favourite for the game against Akhisar Belediyespor and with winning against Hapoel Beer-Sheva it will not experience too much tiredness from midweek.

Fenerbahce are not coming with good mood against Kasimpasa.

Following pretty dissapointing performance against Krasnodar during Europa League 2nd round 1st leg game and recieving lots of criticisms at the game and also in general poor performance at the league, it would be specifically focussed how players would respond against Kasimpasa at the Super League 21st week game.

It is expected that Fenerbahce head coach Dick Advocaat to provide lots of changes at the squad due of poor performance with some players against Krasnodar as an punishment as reaction for some players not showing a good organised football which was heavily criticised by Advocaat after game on the Thursday. It needs to be stated that Kasimpasa would be coming with good mood after beating last week with impressive 4:0 scoreline against league title contenders Basaksehirspor and this result would only show that Fenerbahce will not have easy task as team needs to be show urgent reaction after recently performing poorly against team which has gained high motivation from last week but Fenerbahce has advantage of playing at home.

Fenerbahce are coming out as favourite but as not as strong if team has performed better and at level and with taking mental situation for both teams Fenerbahce will not have an easy game and it will not be huge surprise if Kasimpasa wins the game.
